REVIEW GUIDELINES

Article Date:28 October 2007

General

Basically what we are after is a concise, accurate and personalised opinion of your restaurant visit. In a restaurant things don’t always run smoothly, we know. However, if you do have a bad experience, then explain the facts, and move along. EatingWA is not about punishing restaurants for mistakes. We are here to highlight the best that WA has to offer.

Our restaurant review team’s decision on restaurant reviews is final. So please abide by these guidelines to ensure your review is published on the site, for the world to read, and not just deleted. We would hate for you to have wasted your valuable restaurant going time.

Food

This is what we would like your article to focus on. Whilst the other factors do contribute to your overall dining experience, we believe that the food served should be the primary consideration when composing a review. We would like to hear what you ordered, how it tasted, how it arrived, how it matched your wine (or beer!) and how it left you feeling at the end. You can even tell us what your companions ordered and what they thought. If your review is not food orientated, then we will likely choose not to publish it.

Service

Whilst we agree that service is something that can make or break a night out, we prefer not to have this aspect dominating a review. We are more than happy for you to detail any incidences of rather ordinary service, but if this becomes the focus, or if a negative attitude is carried through the article because of the service, we will likely choose not to publish it.

Ambience

We do like to hear about a restaurant’s ambience. Its decor, music, style and vibe can all be mentioned and a simple sentence or two that paints a mental picture of what to expect is quite sufficient.

Price

If you choose to disclose the price of your meal, we ask that you be accurate. Please include all of what you ordered, so that the price can be fairly judged. If you choose not to include the total price, then a few words to indicate whether or not you adjudged the bill to be on par for the style of restaurant will suffice.

Length

We ask that your reviews are between 100 and 500 words in length. This is to ensure you provide enough information to your fellow members, whilst avoiding long, unreadable diatribes most people will avoid.

Legibility

Not everyone is a professional writer, but we do ask that you proof read your reviews before you submit them. We do edit them for spelling, but the grammar and coherency is up to you. If you wish for EatingWA to use your review, then please, a little care when writing.
