Nat @ Nova Jumps Onboard with eatingWA – Piccolo Restaurant Review

The ever so gorgeous Natalie from Nova's morning show “Nathan and Nat” has jumped onboard as eatingWA’s first female celebrity restaurant reviewer! Thankfully, for her first assignment we sent her off to the lovely revamped Piccolo’s restaurant in North Perth to check out their offerings.

"Piccolo, in that funky little strip on Angove Street, North Perth, was absolutely flat out. Not bad for a Tuesday night, although the fact that it was just a week out from Christmas might have had something to do with it. We scored a table outside – it was probably a good idea to keep us away from the normal customers, given our conversation can tend to be a little, er, salacious (which is a polite way of saying “smutty”!)

For entrée, Jilly and I opted for the salt, pepper and green tea squid ($19). The serving was especially generous, and the flavour was amazing. It was dressed with a chilli lime dressing and there was just the right amount of chilli (enough to notice, not enough to burn!). The other three chicks went for the sautéed wild mushrooms and potato rosti with poached egg and asparagus ($18) which looked delicious with great flakes of shaved parmesan topping it off, and it got a thorough thumbs up from everyone."

Lynchy Heads Down South to Clairault Winery

"I was really impressed with the Cellar Door/Restaurant. It has an earthy, homely feel to it, with its huge open fireplace and windows that overlook the spectacular view of the vineyard. The place becomes quite intimate without even trying and in true Margaret River style it has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I’m sure on a sunny day the deck would be a great place to sip on a glass (or two) of their estate 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon while enjoying a meal.

The food was truly AMAZING! I couldn’t tell you my favorite course out of five; they were all as good as each other. Daneka loved the scallop and lobster tortellini however, I had to eat my venison loin extremely fast because I could see her eyeing it off and ready to swoop after she gobbled hers down."

New Tapas in Northbridge, Fuze

"Fuze is the perfect place to hit up for a snack or meal before heading out for a drink in Northbridge, or just an easy last minute dinner after a busy day.

They have a good array of tapas on the menu, also including a number of main meals but I'd like to see those limited to just a few and the full concentration on the tapas menu."

Couple of the dishes in the photo gallery:

Tempura Whiting Nori Rolls with Radish & Aioli

Very fresh Whiting wrapped in a thin and crispy seaweed tempura batter, placed upon creatively sliced sour and salty radish and alongside a very creamy aioli.

Peking Duck Pancakes with Shanghai Dipping Sauce

Succulent duck with julienne cucumber wrapped in a delicate pancake with a sweet and sour dipping sauce.
