I've eaten at Amarin Thai twice and I can't remember exactly what we had but once was with a big group so we sampled quite a few dishes and they were all sensational. They would be some of the best Thai dishes I've had, so I'm really surprised that other reviewers found fault with the food.
I'm not overly fussed about service so I don't really notice unless it's bad. I didn't notice it being bad.
It's a nice cosy restaurant, a bit dimly lit perhaps. When we went as a group we ate on the balcony which was actually quite good because it was quiet and we could hear each other quite well, which is sometimes an issue when dining as a group.
Overall:
The food is brilliant and I'd recommend it to anyone. This restaurant has been around for ages and there's a reason for that. It's also really easy to park which is good and when you've finished your meal you can head in to Subi and find some dessert.

We hadn't been to the Amarin for quite awhile until saturday the 16 th feb. We dined early and avoided the balcony as it was in full sun (one of the negatives of day light saving!)
We started with chicken in pandan leaves and curry puffs. The curry puffs came out luke warm, but were still quite tasty. The chicken in pandan leaves was very disappointing. Dark chicken meat, and it seemed it was overcooked.
Main course was a beef and basil, tasty, but largely devoid of beef, penang chicken curry, very nice, quite spicy and with a good amount of chicken, as well as mixed thai vegetables. We had asked for this with no mushrooms, and it came out full of them, and as such was sent back. Eventually it reappeared at the end of our meal.
Overall, the food was not as good as in the past. Service was quick, but not overly efficient and the decor needs a revamp. Overall, a good meal, but there is better thai food around.

Amarin Thai
I have been to this place a couple of times the most recent being with my partner on a Saturday night and it as always was a pleasant experience without being anything earth shattering. The inside of the restaurant and the décor seemed if anything a bit on the dated and dark side however as we were lucky enough to have a table on the balcony this really wasn’t as much of a consideration. The staff were attentive and friendly and we were able to get assistance when asking about different things on the menu , in the end we went for a share arrangement between us having a thai green curry and another that just escapes me at the moment either way both had a good amount of spicyness and the serves were plentiful enough that we felt full at the end as well as being very reasonably priced. All in all this place is a good consistent performer being what you would expect from a restaurant of this size and type.
