Food:

Being tapas, we tried a large selection from the menu. We ate the chorizo (tasty), the tortilla (good), beef Carpaccio (great), deli cold cuts (tasty), Pan con Tomate (lovely), croquettes (delicious) and lamb cutlets (amazing). Really good wine and beer list - plenty to choose from. The only small point (and I'm being really picky here) is part of the dessert tasting plate was frozen rock solid. Other than that, it was fantastic.

Service:

Attentive without being over bearing. Such attentive service, I was handed a clean fork after less than a minute after accidentally dropping my original one on the floor! Also gave good wine recommendations - not pushing the higher end, the wine was a great suggestion.

Ambience:

Tucked away down a lane on Howard Street, Andaluz is small, loud and crowded - just like being back in Spain! A very trendy 'Melbourne style' restaurant.

Overall:
Being huge tapas fans we are pretty tough critics. However, we were thrilled to find such a great place. We look forward to our next visit.

Was tasty albeit the tiny portions. Was a few weeks ago now, and maybe this is an indicator, but can't really remember details of what we had. Food was good but not exceptional - a bit safe? Pork belly and scallops, lentils/rabbit dish (?), I know labneh was in there somewhere, beetroot and the ubiquitous chorizo was in amongst the mix. What we tried though (I do remember thinking) did not push/inspire us to want to keep ploughing and sampling through the menu like other tapas-style places have. It was a bit - "right, are you done? Yeah, had enough, I'm done - ok, let's go" for us.

Service:

Was ok - not great - seemed a bit pretentious & aloof but maybe we hit a weird night. Staff gave off the vibe of wanting to be elsewhere.

Ambience:

Great location, wasn't that enamoured with the set-up of the interior - felt a bit disjointed & disconnected in certain areas. Tables a bit too close together. Not sure - wasn't a huge fan. Hard surfaces, sound carried conversations afar.

Overall:
Admittedly, we had high expectations from other reviews and from word-of-mouth. A bit disappointed. Probably won't be going back but at least now it's another one off the list of the never-ending "places to try". Feel it was a bit overpriced for what we had, level of service etc. Nothing exceptional.

The Tapas menu had some highlights which included the prawns (delightful) and the scallops & pork belly (worked well) however most of the other dishes ordered were pleasant without being a standout! I think some of the dishes were somewhat overpriced for what was on offer.

Service:

The service was terrific - pleasant and friendly staff who know their stuff!

Loved the whole feel of this place which was why we stayed on for Tapas - it is a good idea to get there early to secure a good posi (we went early on a Saturday night).

Overall:
Great little place to check out (and be checked out by the look of some of the patrons) with an interesting wine list. Perhaps somewhere to go before or after a show or dinner
