Atrium at Burswood is one of the few buffets in Perth to actually serve decent food. My wife and I ate there on Friday 1st February.

Not being seafood eaters, the cold entrees became a bit limited for us, but the cold chicken breast done in coriander was sensational.

The hot main courses featured a beef rendang curry, with a good amount of heat for curry lovers and beef medallions cooked well done in a red wine sauce. The roast was lamb, which was very tender, although a bit fatty.

The dessert station is a feature and must definitely be on the avoid list for weight watchers. The petit fours were exceptional as was the chocolate gateau.

What let the night done was some very average service from wait staff without a great command of English, but that’s the current market I suppose. The overall ambience is let down by the influx of people heading to shows or the casino flies, definitely out of place in business attire.

Although, given that, the meal was very good and we'll go back, preferably on a mid week night to avoid the great unwashed.

We left this buffet absolutely stuffed! We were in a large group for a birthday celebration. You need to book months in advance to get a large group in on a Friday or Saturday night, as when we phoned a few weeks in advance we were extremely lucky to get a cancellation.

The food is excellent (the 2nd best buffet we've had in perth) and the range is just fantastic. Everything from a carvery, to Asian, to meats & cheeses, fresh seafood. The desserts were extravagent - Conisseur ice cream in many flavours, plus about twenty different types of cakes/tarts/puddings. It was impossible to try it all!

Since we were there for a birthday they also brought us a free chocolate cake and a box to take it home in, since understandably with all the other desserts it won't get eaten!

For the price, this meal was worth it. I especially enjoyed the desserts! We found that overall whilst the buffet was busy, there seemed to be enough staff cleaning up etc. I would advise arriving early so you can beat the rush, and also take longer to eat!

We decided to try the atrium restaurant tonight before the walking with dinosaur show...I’m pleased with our choice!

Beautiful fresh seafood, crisp cooked vegetables and lovely salads.

Hot buffet included roast beef, beef curry, pork chops done with apple and a few different types of fish dishes.

The desserts...well i think it was dessert heaven! My little one loved the chocolate fountain and all the little delicacies available to dip.

Staff were attentive and the sous chef was wandering around answering any questions...she wouldn’t give me the cold chicken recipe though!!! not fair!!!

On arrival all ladies were also presented with a single rose that was a nice touch.

All up I think we will return at$45 per head it was good value and we all left happy and very full...

Deciding to have a lazy afternoon at the casino one day, we opted to start with lunch at the Atrium. We didn’t have a booking but we were shown a table close to the buffet quite promptly. Orders for drinks were taken with another waitperson also promptly.

We both started with the soups of which there was a choice of two. The cream of vegetable soup was very tasty and I would have loved to have had seconds but wanted to save room for everything else. The seafood buffet I found to be a tad dull with just the standard prawns, chilli mussels, smoked cod (which was yummy) and yabbies. This was supplemented with a large bowl of seafood extender which doesn’t really make the grade in terms of a quality seafood buffet in my mind. Phoney fish is something you anticipate in lesser establishments. There were also the usual array of salads, cold vegetables and cold chicken. The glass “roof” of the buffet made getting some items rather difficult, as you had to stoop and bend into the buffet itself in order to obtain these items. The other issue is that the sauces aren't labeled so short of putting a bit on your plate and trying them, you don’t know what you are dressing your food with. Additionally, while the sliced bread that was on offer with the soup was lovely and fresh; the same could not be said of the rolls at the salad stand. These did not taste fresh at all. Personally, I also did not find the chilli mussels very tasty.

At the hot buffet, there were a couple of interesting choices but otherwise nothing really made me want to eat them and the lack of attention provided by the staff milling around in the carvery square, made me not want to bother with the hot food. My companion tried the fish in white wine and thought it to be quite tasty and found the roast turkey meal to be nice, although not exceptional. If you are dessert oriented, you would enjoy the dessert buffet, as there were several cakes and other decadent desserts to choose between. There was also a simple fruit salad (which I chose) and pieces of fruit and a freezer of icecream.

The cheese and biscuits could have been vastly improved upon as all the cheeses were pre-sliced and piled into pyramids and after a little while, they start to sweat and go a bit floppy. There was also no Brie/Camembert or blue cheese to choose from. The three cheeses they had on offer all tasted a tad plastic to be quite honest.

Now, as I previously mentioned, our drinks order was taken promptly. The alcoholic drinks were delivered in a similar fashion, except the Rothbury Estate Semillon Sauvignon Blanc turned into a red, and when this was pointed out as incorrect, this new waitress seemed incapable of understanding that a SSB is a white wine. The original waitress later returned with our correct drink. And yet the water still hadn’t arrived. The second waitress returned to ask if we had ordered water, which we had, and so scurried off to complete the delivery. Otherwise, service was fine with plates being cleared efficiently.

I don’t believe this buffet to be one of the best in Perth. I think for the price charged, it is okay. With the Entertainment Book discount, our meals worked out at $26 pp, which made this meal better value but I wouldn’t choose to go here at full price.

Had a lovely dinner with friends and I would say that this is one of the best buffets in Perth. The price is reasonable and there is a wide variety of food from salads to the desserts. I always love the seafood in Burswood especially the yabbies. The main also covers a variety of dishes from Asian to lovely lamb cutlets. The dessert was awesome as mentioned by the previous reviewer, the chocolate fountain was just a delight. Apart from the chocolate fountain, there were a lot of cakes and ice cream that will cater from the very young to the very not so young diners. Very nice ambience especially if you sit near the flowing man made waterfall. Staff was friendly and helpful, making sure that we have enough drinks on our table. We are going back there with my family on my daughter's 6th birthday dinner before watching a show at the Dome next month.

Overall:
Atrium is consistently one of the best buffets in Perth with its crowd-pleasing and extensive range of hot foods, salad & seafood and desserts in an open, cosmopolitan atmosphere. There is even gourmet icecream. The range of Asian-Western food is very good and caters to a wide audience - dishes include pork vindaloo, soy-honey chicken, lamb cutlets, fish in white wine sauce, beef in a wine sauce and roast chicken - but is (therefore is?) cooked very conservative, the fish in white wine sauce in particular did not have much taste. I sampled the oysters from the cold foods section, which were nice and fresh, but one of the cooked prawns I had seemed to be oozing something and did not seem fresh at all. I also tasted the Thai vermicelli salad, but this did not seem to have much in the way of flavour. Now the deserts, an absolute visual feast with a multi-tiered chocolate fountain centrepiece, where one cannot help but be compelled to dip a marshmallow and imagine one is within Willy Wonka’s factory. Cheesecakes with chocolate handsaw motifs and miniature chocolate Éclairs the size of cocktail frankfurts? Who is responsible for this slightly warped and wonky paradise? I sampled a miniature chocolate Éclair, stewed strawberries, chocolate pudding, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate mousse puff and some very fresh pineapple and dew melon. I ate at Atrium about a year ago and it seemed to me that the food and desserts were more superior during that visit, but the others I was dining with who were there for the first time were very impressed and shovelling down huge plates of everything so they had a really great time. We asked for teas and coffees to cap off the night and the coffees came out lukewarm. Efforts to get another coffee resulted in something that was lukewarmer. Perhaps the temperature of their urn needs to be checked. Otherwise, a good experience and if only one had a big enough stomach to sample everything!

Went there with my hubby for his work Christmas do. There was a huge spread of food with lots of choices. I must say that the seafood selection is the most impressive that I've had. There were yabbies, prawns, marinated grilled octopus, chilli mussels, oysters. They were all very fresh. I am quite particular about the oysters and these were fresh and were replenished quite quickly unlike some other buffet places. There was a very eclectic selection of hot food; from Asian to Western food. There was rendang ( nice and tender but not what I'd call rendang), some luscious tender grilled lamb, roast and "tau sar pau: - red bean paste buns which are a sweet. The desserts definitely catered for the sweet lovers with there being a big choice of cakes, fruit, ice cream and even a chocolate fountain!! If you like your buffets, I definitely recommend the Atrium.

There were 6 of us that went there on a Tuesday night for my brother's birthday.

Definitely the best buffet meal that I've had. The soups, salads and huge range of condiments were extremely tasty. On our way around to the hot section, the chef struck up a conversation with us and cooked us a steak while we waited - awesome! And let me tell you about the desserts! WOW! The mini pavlovas, eclairs, cheesecakes, hot chocolate pudding and chocolate fondue fountain were to die for! If you advise the staff beforehand that there is a birthday, they will give everyone on the table a complimentary glass of champagne and even come out with a complimentary cake and sing happy birthday to you. Will be back for sure!
