Welcome to Attivo Restaurant

Attivo Restaurant

Looking upon the sleek ultra-modern exterior and the bright, airy interior of North Beach's Attivo, 'traditional' is the last word to spring to mind. However, behind the double doors of the kitchen, Attivo is all about tradition, albeit with a contemporary twist. After almost eight years at the helm of Hobart's Da Angelo Ristorante, chef and owner Tyrone Hinds made the move west to introduce the Mediterranean chic to North Beach's sophisticated dining scene.

The garlic pizza bread was a perfect starter. The homemade pasta was perfectly cooked. I had the Pollo Vodka & would happily order it again. My husband had the Pollo Paesana, the only fault of this dish was the lack of olives - if an ingredient is worth a mention in the menu we would expect more than 2 olives to be included, & so when we asked for more an extra 4 were given as a small side dish.

The dessert!!! The standout was the Iced Marsala Cheesecake with Warm Marsala Sauce, this dish was HEAVEN! If I never eat this again it would be a very sad thing. The combination of the cold cheesecake with the warm butterscotch-like sauce is genius. The chocolate truffle (more like a rich mousse) was yummy too.

Service was attentive, helpful, reasonably quick. The owner at front of house was lovely, not at all bothered by our overtired newborn. Staff quick to notice an empty glass or a hungry look around when ready to order.

Ambience:

Modern, classy establishment. Makes you want to get a little more dressed up than usual. But it is still a comfortable place to be. Don't think we'd take our 4yr old though. Maybe a little cold.

Overall:
The focus here is Quality over Quantity, which means you have room for dessert - & that is something you don't want to miss! Few restaurants make their own desserts in house as it seems cheaper & easier to bring them in from outside, I am so glad Attivo didn't make this mistake.

We ordered the antipasto platter which was okay but not as nice or as generous as we'd remembered from a previous visit. My partner had salmon for mains which he really enjoyed. The salmon came with a choice of a side salad or vegies but really the salad could be better described as a garnish. I ordered the seafood risotto which I found to be average.

Service:

Overall table service during the evening was fast and pleasant. However, once we'd finished our mains and declined dessert, no-one came near us to check if we'd like another drink of any kind. We assumed perhaps they wanted us to leave to free up a table for the next round of diners.

Ambience:

The restaurant is modern and comfortable.

Overall:
We returned to Attivo after having truly loved everything about it on a previous visit. This time we were very disappointed. At the end of the evening we tried to give some feedback about our disappointment with the size of the 'side salad'. We were told that if we wanted a larger salad we should have ordered off the salad menu. 'Not your fault, but you'll know for next time', we were told. Not impressed that they won't take feedback on board, instead blaming customer choice. We won't return.

The food was absolutely incredible, all fresh and because the pasta is made there it made all the difference!!! as a vego they said they could make any meal without the meat, now that's freshness and service! I had the pasta with veggies in a cream sauce - delicious and the sauce wasn't sickly! also at our table was a risotto, beautiful! also try the desserts! lemon tart is incredible. $200 for 5 mains, 4 desserts and numerous drinks including alcoholic ones!

Service:

Everyone was quick and just lovely! the owner (i think) lady was always wandering around ensuring everything was ok with everyone, just great!

Ambience:

Modern lovely place, great layout and comfortable! tables are quite small if you are having more than four but not terrible. Lovely look of the place and sort of more private area on the side too if you wish to be a little more secluded, very vibrant environment

Overall:
MUST TRY IT OUT!! lovely place!

We decided we couldn't be bothered dressing up and going out for the night and having been here a few times before we knew they did take away. I have to say the food was unbelievably delicious. We ordered the Pollo Vodka shells and the Ravioli alla Pollo (we could have been more original) and the sauce was fantastic on both dishes and the flavours were even better than I remember experiencing in the restaurant itself. This is definitely a great idea if you want awesome, flavoursome food without the hassle of cooking. One thing I love about this place also is that the pasta is made on the premises - divine!

Service:

The service was brilliant - we rang, ordered & the lady went to check with the kitchen so she could tell us exactly how long the food would be. 15 minutes was all it took to cook, had our meals paid for and collected in 2 & we had dinner at home within a half hour (including driving time to collect

Overall:
If you are not interested in cooking and can't possibly deal with people but still want to enjoy top quality food made with care then try Attivo's take away option. The prices are quite good and the portion sizes generous, so we felt we got real value for money but didn't have to pay the mark-ups for drinks and table service. In this time where people are getting hit left, right & center with high prices, this is a great way to still have a little luxury & not compromise the budget.

Went to Attivo for the first time on friday night. Pleasant modern surroundings, though did get noisy at times. Food was nice, not spectacular but still nice. Heard the wait staff say that it was a full house for the night and that was noted as time between entree and mains was over an hour. Though that being said the wait staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend it and return again just not during peak times.

Decided to take my boyfriend out to dinner for a celebration and decided on Attivo as it is near the beach and I love pasta.

I booked for 2 at 7:30 on a hot Thursday night, we were promptly seated and water was already on the table. We were then advised that we would be having a trainee waitperson, no problem to us.

We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and shared the antipasto platter for starters. The antipasto was a nice balance of food and is really only a starter rather than a full entree. Which is fine when you are eating pasta.

For mains I went for the seafood ravioli in a mornay sauce, was a beautiful dish but also quite heavy and creamy. My boyfriend went for the Spaghetti marinara which was filled with plump pieces of seafood and a not too rich tomato sauce. I think he won in the mains.

We decided on dessert as we were celebrating, I went for the Tiramisu, which was ok, perhaps I should have ordered something with no cream, after my mains. BF went for the icecream, which was Connoisseur, he loves icecream so he enjoyed it.

I would love to go back and try some of the other pastas, perhaps even for takeaway, as there were some very delicious combinations.

The service was great even though our little trainee did drop a tray of glasses which smashed on my legs, but no harm was done and she was obviously more upset than I. I am sure she will become a wonderful waitperson.

All in all a pleasant experience which I will be keen to repeat as we went for great stroll down to the beach after our meal.....so romantic....

The food is great & the service is fantastic! The Alla Roma and the steaks are amazing. Only downfall is that the sounds are not absorbed and it can get quite noisy on busy nights.

I have been to Attivo twice recently. Both times the food was exceptional, and the service outstanding. Prior to this I had only ordered my food from through their takeaway service.

The first time was a catch up with mates - which we arranged at the last minute and they were happy to fit us in, we were all equally impressed with the brilliant table service, and he running of Attivo in general. The three of us all loved our entrees, which we had the pizza breads, all of these are great. For our mains two had the ravioli and i had a Napolitano cream pasta. I am not generally a pasta person, however the menu is extensive and they are happy to mix and match pasta and sauce combinations, and add or take away anything that you don't want in the dish. Both of my friends has desert the tiramisu and sticky date pudding which both said were really great.

The second time I went with a party of four, two of which are my fussiest friends, we all loved our meals, this time i tried the home made beef ravioli, and the spinach salad, I would very much recommend both. Two of our table had desert peppermint chip icecream and the lemon lime tart, which I am told are both very good. A great desert menu is on offer if you can fit it in.

The restaurant itself is light and bright and funky, there is a passage outside that opens up to let in the sea breeze, and this is where I prefer to sit if it isn't too cold.

The food here is fantastic, fresh and it would be hard not to find something you love on the menu. The very strong point of this restaurant is the great table service, you are warmly greeted and once you have been there once they remember you. Orders are taken quickly, and meals follow shortly after, your glasses are regularly filled with water, and there is very little need to sit around waiting for staff to help you out.

Lots of parking available, and very easy to find and get to.

Great food, great service. Highly recommended. Do yourself a favour and try this restaurant.

Yum! Italian is one of my favourite cuisines so Attivo has become one of my favourite restaurants. The pasta is all freshly made on the premises and you can tell as soon as you bite into it - it melts in your mouth.

The staff are all extremely friendly and have exceptional memories, which makes you feel quite special and is an unusual trait in restaurants these days.

Everything we have tried has surpassed all expectations. My favourite two dishes would have to be the spaghetti marinara and the seafood ravioli - my mouth is watering!

My only qualm is the table layout - some tables are shaped like surfboards and can be quite narrow for large groups. Also often you feel quite snug with other tables - but all this does not take away from the delightful food!

We've been to this restaurant a couple of times and have never been disappointed with the warm reception we've received

The staff are really friendly and attentive and the extensive menu makes it hard to decide what to have!!!

On a couple of occasions we have asked for a dish to be varied a little and our request has been accommodated. Staff state they have to put run all requests via the chef so its nice to know there is some flexibility.

Whatever we've had off the menu be it pasta, chicken, fish or steak - it has never been disappointing. Dishes are very flavoursome and portions a good size.
The home made desserts are also to die for!

The decor is nice and modern and adds to the ambience.

Others to whom we have recommended this eatery have also given positive feedback which is also satisfying.
