Overall:
We had a lovely buffet breakfast at Bistro 38 at the Joondalup Resort. The atmosphere is tasteful and relaxing, with large indoor and outdoor sections near the attractive pool area, and a nice selection of hot and cold foods, including eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, muesli, fresh and dried fruit, nuts, pastries, breads and cereals. Couple of things kept me from giving it 4 stars: the syrup is not real maple syrup; the coffee and tea comes from a machine -- which I wouldn't mind as I had a decent flat white, but there was only one machine and the queue got fairly long; and the fruit salad didn't seem as fresh as it might be (though the cut melon was fine). At $28.50 per head it's pricey but not ridiculously so when you consider that everything is included. Service was unobtrusive, with staff whisking dirty plates away quickly and quietly. Even though the place was busy it never felt frenetic, and the atmosphere of the resort, on the lovely grounds of the golf course (where we spied 3 kangaroos), made it feel like a special occasion.
