  • Went with 4 others to celebrate a birthday. Others ordered the wagyu beef special (looked very nice, very tender beef but a bit on the expensive side at $48); the lamb (very good, tender lamb) and the grilled snapper (standard stuff, I assume was good).

Now it seemed that myself and my sister ordered the wrong stuff. We decided to have the mezze share plate and beef carpaccio. Carpaccio was good, but very small serve- it was an entree serving though. And the mezze, I really suggest you avoid it. We ordered the traditional mezze at $35 or so and it came with some bread and dip, 2 fried prawns, calamari, deep fried olives ("interesting")and a chunk of cooked salmon. Disappointing. Dessert is good though- had the fig pudding yum but very rich

  • My husband ordered the oysters and said they were lovely. We both ordered snapper for our main which was a nice flavour but very small for the $37 and was only luke warm. Our sides came out a good 5 minutes after our mains where served but the chips and vegeis where the best part of the meal. The dessert menu left a little to be desired and so we ended up just having coffee which took over 15 minutes to come out so not all that impressed.

  • For a pre-dinner drink we went for a 2006 Howard Park Riesling. A beautifully crafted white from the South West of WA (Denmark region).

For starters we shared some toasted Turkish bread, that was served with an artichoke cream which was a very nice combination. For the mains I ordered an Eye fillet which was served with fries. As a side I chose the Rocket, Parmesan and Pear salad. My partner chose a Pizza with Chorizos.

The steak was very disappointing. Ordered medium, but it was served bone dry, burnt on the outside. What a waste of fillet. The fries had a dark golden colour - good indication of old oil being used. On top of that I found pieces of beer batter in the fries - I guess the fish was cooked in the same fryer as the fries.

  • The staff was very attentive and friendly. The meals were served at a good pace. After complaining about my steak (which I did not send back), our waitress took approx. 15% off the final bill. A nice gesture. I asked her to please tell the chef that his steak cooking was not up to scratch that night

  • A brilliant location, right on the Swan river on a nice hill. Beautiful views of the Perth foreshore, King's Park, the UWA campus. Building is an old mental asylum, with high ceilings, Jarrah wooden floors and a lot of character. We liked it very much.

    V
  • The nice atmosphere and great service was unfortunately let down by a bad performance in the kitchen. If I pay $36 for a steak with fries, I expect that it is cooked to my specification. I found this very disappointing especially considering the fact, that the restaurant is called "Bluewater Grill". I am not sure if I will come back for food, but I might give it a try on a different day and trying one of the seafood dishes.

  • This place has one of the best views in Perth but sadly they missed out on our booking for 12 people. They told us we had to have a set menu - starting at $60 per head, and they required a deposit of $20 per head up front. So Raffles here we come.

  • Overall this was a very good experience, we started with some of the mixed breads as we were having the seafood platter as a main, which were served with some very tasty dips and oil.

The seafood platter was superb more than enough for two very hungry appetites, especially the Marron although it was quite strange thjat 3 halves were served between 2 people.

The wine list was OK in fact the only dissapointment was the weather as we seemed to pick the only day this summer where we could not sit outside and enjoy the view.

    Will definately return.

    V
  • What a beautiful spot! We sat outside with an uninterrupted view and the weather was glorious!

After looking at the extensive wine list we enlisted the help from the staff to choose a nice drop. We went for Rosily, a white semillon sauvignon blanc 2007 from Margaret River. Very very nice dry crisp wine, perfect for a summers day lunch!

We started with garlic bread and for mains I had rack of lamb with creamy mash, sauteed mushrooms and sweet potato crisps, I specify crisps, not thick chips as I was expecting so I suggest ordering a side veg or salad was very nice but not quite enough.

My brother had the sirloin with béarnaise sauce and chips. A little tough on the outside but done perfectly in the center. Dessert was scrumptous, I had moist fig pudding with vanilla bean icecream and my brother had chocolate and almond cake with icecream. Even though we were under the umbrella I came away sunburnt! Service was a little slow, it was ages before they took our order for a drink and ages to get the menus and then for them to come back to take our order. Apart from that it was a really really nice lunch, with good company, good wine, good food and a superb view to top it off. I will return, would love to go for a breakfast next.

    V
  • We took a large group to the BlueWater Grill on a weekday and had a fine evening. The restaurant's position in Heathcote, overlooking the river and the distant city, must be second to none. But at first glance the menu was uninspiring and the amount of seafood was on offer was disappointing. We started with oysters and mezze plates both of which were very interesting and encouraging.

Moving on to mains, we managed to secure some marron for one of our crustacean loving party and I had a smokey paprika chicken. The fish of the day was Samson fish or swordfish. The marron and swordfish were judged to be the winners of the night, with my chicken coming in a close second, but the Samson fish was dry and lifeless.

Desert was also a mixed bag. Good ambience and good service but it feels like the chef has run out of inspiration. Good but not great (except for the view).

  • Firstly, what a beautiful day and a beautiful setting. Difficult to have a bad experience with these views on such a warm and fresh day (after rain last night).

The food was all excellent. Yes a little expensive, but great and the portions are large. We had the Marron (app sized) and the grilled Barramundi. Was not sure about this choice after reading one of the other reviews. However the fish was excellent, fresh and really nicely cooked (i.e. just cooked not over done). The also had the broccoli and almonds and green veggies. All very nicely done. The only comment I might have was that the broth was a little salty. Also we had too much food, I might only order the one veggie dish next time and have some room for dessert.

Ambience, well it’s all been said. This location is amazing and the place is really nicely done.

The service was excellent for us. Friendly, but not too familiar. We were not in any hurry and I could see that it could be slow if you are trying to get to your afternoon’s activities. They seemed responsive to our requests and so I might make it clear if I have a particular timeline next time we go.

All up it came to $118 for 2 with starters and wine, which is excellent value and overall one of your better restaurant experiences in Perth so far (remembering that we are new here).

  • Met my girlfriends at Bluewater for a pre-Christmas catch-up one morning. We treated ourselves to the $27.50/head full breakfast. Our view from our alfresco table was awe-inspiring - Looking out across the vast expanse of the Swan River to the city skyline.

My plate was filled with scrambled eggs, chipolatas sausages, bacon, grilled tomatoes, freshly cooked mushrooms, asparagus, toast etc. There was a wonderful selection of goodies to choose from! I went back for seconds and had fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberries, melons) and pastries like Danish pastries and croissants. They also had cereals, nuts, dried fruits, yoghurt etc.

Everyone helped themselves to a variety of teas and coffees as well as four different types of fresh juice!

Service was a little lacking, but the waitresses were busy and friendly/cheerful once you got their attention.

If you're after somewhere beautiful and impressive to go to for breakfast, this is it!

  • Joined a group of friends to celebrate one of them becoming a soon-to-be-Dad. The pre-dinner drinks service was slow. They told us they didn't have the first choice of champagne our group requested, so we got our second choice.

Seated for dinner we looked at the wine list and our first choice champagne was there! At the price we paid, why didn't they just give us the champagne we wanted in the first place???

There were three other tables with patrons and service was slow (it was a Sunday night). Views were fabulous, though, and there was a lovely intimate atmosphere with fires crackling in the background! When the cocky waitress finally got to our table we were told we had to order quickly because it was getting late!

I had a duck dish - The duck breast was bland and dry, but edible. This was coupled with a miniature duck pie which tasted like it was filled with dry left-over shredded duck portions from the night before. I didn't eat it.

Dessert was amazing - loved it. Moist fig pudding with vanilla bean ice cream.

I think this place has potential. Maybe we just got there on a bad night and I chose a bad dish. I think I'll try it out again, despite my experience!

    V
  • I went to the Bluewater Grill with a work function a couple of weeks ago.

The food was just divine. Could not fault it. We had a four course set menu. Everything was lovely.

The view, amazing. We had an outside table with an outdoor heater and it was just lovely.

The service was not the best. We were constantly asking for drinks, to the point that a few of us stopped drinking because it was too much effort to get some drinks served to us. Some took 45minutes!

And the plates were left on the table for too long. Other colleagues started stacking them as they didn't want them in their face anymore.

If they can get the service right this place would be a wonderful place to visit.

May give it another try because of the food and view.

  • Went on Valentines day, lucky we rang to confirm time as they didn't have our name on the list (had booked and paid over the phone a few weeks prior, money already taken out of visa) Talked firstly to a man, got put on hold, then to a girl who got increasingly irritated with me even when we said we had proof of payment. Got put on hold again then spoke to another girl who didn't know what was going on (all passing the buck, maybe) then back to the irate girl who again questioned if we were sure we had booked for valentines day! By this time I'm in no mood to be hearing all this as THEY had clearly stuffed up. In the end she assured us we would have a table.

Arrived somewhat stressed however hoping for some apologies. Was greeted by a lady who asked our name and then said "Oh, your the ones that had the problem" we were then asked to wait at the bar for our seats. No apology or explanation. We spent the rest of the night calming ourselves down.

By the way, food was great, wait-staff were attentive. Initial reception left a bad taste in our mouth, won't be going back.

  • Christmas Eve dinner was enjoyed by three of us at the The Bluewater Grill. Stunning views of the Swan River and city from the outside tables made it a very enjoyable and relaxed experience. The staff were all very friendly and professional. We all had seafood dishes which were extremely fresh and prepared to perfection. A comprehensive wine and cocktail list complimented the varied food menu. I recommend this restaurant for that special occasion.
