  • Very average for the price ($20+ entrees, $40+ Mains). Foie Gras and quail was bland and almost unpleasant, beef ribs were tough, scallops for entree were probably the highlight. The lamb main had some perfectly cooked fillet, then a portion of below-room temperature and incredibly tough lamb neck, just strange. Was not up to scratch.

  • The food is presented so artfully & is always a delight to look at. It is superbly cooked with flavours that are well matched and often original combinations. When I am out I like to order food I would not cook myself and I can honestly say that I would never acquire the skills or imagination to cook what is on this menu. If you are people who like steaks or large bowls of pasta- do not come here!

The wine list is OK & not too pricey. You'll be looking at $100 each to eat well but you will struggle to recreate anything you taste at Bouchon at home!

For my first degustation, this was a disappointing start. The manager seemed not to care that the service was slow, we had to wait to be offered a drink for 40 minutes after we arrived and the timing between courses worked out to be just over an hour - which is unacceptable. The staff knew little about the degustation or what the experience should deliver and the lack of pre-planning put into the meal by management was evident when we were informed it was a surprise degustation!

  • The food here is just exceptional. Compliments to the chef!!! Bursts of flavour with every bite. I would say only one thing though - in having a degustation, when the choice is offered between fish or meat - logically, fish is a safe option if you are a vegetarian - however a fillet of barramundi came served on a bed of finely chopped up ox tail !! Luckily none of us were vegetarian - but it would have been a disappointment for someone if they were!

  • The food at this place is very disappointing. The best word way I can describe it is "over-wrought". Just read the menu itself and you will understand. Every dish is at least five separate items comprised of a dozen ingredients which are neither tasty individually nor collectively. I can see why it's about $100/head for dinner as these dishes are extremely complicated to prepare. That also means they are generally not fresh - every dish had quite a few bits which seemed to have been prepared a day or two in advance.

The Bouchon is top of our "dining out" list, and is also a favorite among other friends. If you like to treat yourself to a relaxing night out with a touch of class, then this is the place to go. Fantastic staff, excellent food, great wine choice and not overly expensive.

  • My husband and I have been to the Bouchon several times now, and every time the meal has been absolutely superb. I was surprised the portion sizes could be so filling as at first glance they appear quite small, but if you go with the entree, mains, desert and cheese platter, it will fill you quite substantially. Also the complimentary bread and appetizer are a nice touch, too. Each time the appetizer has been different, but the Truffle one is still my favorite. Can't list everything that we have tried, but on our last visit I had Venison which was cooked to absolute perfection and would have that again on our next visit if it's still available. Definitely try one of the French wines that are on offer, they compliment any meal of choice.

  • Low light sets the mood and the Edith Piaff playing quietly in the background adds a nice touch. Although can get a bit noisy if there are a couple of groups booked in, that's just the way things go. On the whole, you're not sitting on top of each other and it's a relaxing atmosphere.

My wife and I went on a Saturday night just before we watched the movie No Reservations. I'm glad we did pay a visit because after the movie, good food was on the top of our minds. We had a great time at the Bouchon. After reading the other reviews, I was amazed they said the service was not good. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely lady and shown to our table. After ordering some drinks, we saw the waitress bringing these espresso cups to us. I thought 'we didn't order coffee'. After a closer look, it was a porcini and truffle soup. This was free of charge and extremely tasty. We both had entrees, mains and dessert and all three were absolutely brilliant. The only down side that turned into a upside was the paper on the tables. My wife knows I hate going to a restaurant that uses paper instead of table cloths, but they used it in a novel way. You could write a message on the paper and they rip it of and stick it on the walls. Still not the most 'classy' thing but it was different so I accepted it. All in all it was great. The service, the food and the unique French ambiance. Well done.

hello well where do i start i went to bouchon bistro last month on Wednesday night for dinner with a good friend of mine on arrival we were shown our table we ordered and then we were given a amusebush( appetiser) which was a shooter glass of broccoli and blue cheese soup which was very nice and started the evening well. on to the food the food was highly enjoyable. i had for entree a prawn ravioli which sat on some braised oxtail with a celeriac cream... the raviloi was great the pasta was delicate and light/ thin not chewy and the prawn was whole inside and was accompanied with some type of mousse inside but yet i could not quite describe it as it was less than a tablespoon worth the oxtail was delicately done and braised to a nice tender and rich flavour, and the celeiac cream was also nice and smooth and creamy all the ingredients matched well and the whole dish in total complimented each other. very nice for the main... i had a duck breast which was around 5 slices 1/2 a breast which was cooked nicely to medium. it come with a scampi mousse and a cocoa tuille and was accompanied with a light jus the duck was nice and the scampi mousse was smooth and lovely the sauce lacked a little flavour and the whole dish needed a little more body for my liking but then again that is my opinion.....each to their own i guess then i had cheese which was 4 varieties which come with some sliced apple and i forgot what it was but some type of fruit bread, the cheese was good which as it should be you just have to buy quality, but the bread was cold which in turn just come out of the packet in the fridge, would be nice to have warm bread or at least room temperature. the dessert was nice but yet a little let down as it was too simplistic and expected more from it. it was a mousse with nougatine and caramel sauce. very nice indeed but expected a little more in the presentation side. OVERALL... UPSIDE......... the food was nice, rich in taste and depth , and everything matched well DOWNSIDE........... the service is disappointing, there is no finese... highly priced and over priced for what the whole package offers. the portions are small, table settings should be better (hence tablecloth), service should be better. all this is based on the money you pay. you should just get more....... but then again they are just a bistro... but then if you are a bistro and cant offer a all around package you should price it accordingly. COMPARISON.... way better food than jacksons restaurant, but the setup at jacksons is better and the service is better at jacksons. but then again you go to a restaurant to eat food so bouchon is a place for food just a shame it doesent have the whole package to match the price.

We went on a busy night before ‘xmas 06 so the restaurant was VERY noisy - even though it is a small restaurant. The noise level was quite unbearable as I couldn't even hear conversation. Besides the noise levels, the bistro is tastefully furnished, although not to the level I expected for its price range. Service was adequate, except the owner was not friendly and unfortunately appeared to be snobby to us. Food is good, at $58 for a three course meal is not bad value for French food in Perth =) The duck is good but compared to other mains is very small in terms of portion size. Seafood dishes are done well. Otherwise the food was good quality and well presented. Dessert is also well done - have the coconut brulee.
