Overall:
Went to the Brisbane for a casual lunch with another friend, and it was a most pleasurable experience.
There were no tables available in the main beer garden, but we were offered a small corner table under the jacaranda tree, which was probably more appropriate for the two of us because we could lounge about on the cushioned benches while we enjoyed a drink and waited for our food.
We decided to share a Thai Chicken pizza (my companion's choice - I was a little reluctant as Asian pizzas are notoriously dodgey!), and a serve of the beer battered fish and chips with tartar sauce.
We did have to wait quite a while for our food to come, but we didn't really notice due to the classy and comfortable surroundings (it was perfect weather for al fresco dining), and with a Beez Neez in hand, nobody was complaining.
When the food arrived, we were presented with the pizza as well as a serve of barramundi on lemon risotto instead of the fish and chips. We informed our waiter who took the plate back and informed us the fish and chips would be 10 minutes more. I actually would have eaten the barramundi with risotto had I not been sharing, because it looked so delicious!
We happily chowed down on the pizza while we waited, and as far as Asian flavoured pizzas go, this was a pleasant surprise. The toppings were tasty and not too strong in Asian flavours that they overpowered the subtlety of the pizza base.
The fish and chips however were the star. We were amply rewarded for our 10 minute wait, as the fish was battered in a beautifully crisp coating which was neither too thick nor too oily/greasy. There were two generous pieces, on top of a generous serve of crispy hand cut chips with a token side salad and some tartar sauce.
All in all it was an extremely pleasant location to enjoy a sunny afternoon with a beer and some very yummy food. Despite the hiccup with the fish, it was just what we were after.
Highly recommended.
