Today was a public holiday and silly me i didn’t make a booking so we had to sit inside, which was still nice but not as fab as the garden.

Our waiter was one of the friendliest and most efficient i have had in a while, he did everything properly. he replaced our entree cutlery with clean ones for our mains, changed our empty water carafe without us having to ask and checked a couple of times if our meals were fine and if we wanted extra drinks. So i give him five out of five!

Onto the food, we decided to have a cheese plate as our entree to share, the cheeses were good quality but it could have used some fresh fruit and a cheese knife would have been handy but it was enough for the three of us to pick at until our mains arrived.

My friend ordered a scotch fillet medium/rare which came out accordingly and it was served with homemade béarnaise sauce, which i tasted and it was delicious. It came with the usual pub chips and salad. My other friend had the lamb shanks, both a little small but were tender and tasty he said but was not impressed with what tasted like packet mash potato. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken, orange, rocket, sweet potato and pistachio salad. The chicken came out hot and seasoned well, it was a whole kiev sprinkled with the nuts and the salad was just the right size and arranged well.

We skipped dessert but all enjoyed our wines which we let the efficient waiter pick for us. Would recommend that you book if you would like a spot in the nice garden, but couldn’t fault anything today!

We decided to try this place on a Tuesday night. The place was humming along when we arrived, and we were seated on a 'high table" with stools, next to the doors which lead to the outside garden area.

As we were away from the main dining/restaurant area, we felt a bit forgotten. After waiting a while for someone to take out order, I finally "waved" at the waitress, who had sat us down. She took our order and was very friendly throughout the night.

It seemed like ages before our meals came out, and when they arrived, they presented very well. I had the pasta, with prawns, chilli and garlic ($20). It had fresh cubed tomato tossed through, but frankly, I could have made this dish at home, and I would have used better prawns!

The other main was the duck in red curry sauce served with jasmine rice, which was a leg of duck, cooked well, but the sauce was a disappointment, as it was really salty, and spoilt the whole dish ($29)!

The night was saved with dessert; the spanish doughnuts (churros) were just divine!! Served with a crème anglais and chocolate sauce, they were freshly cooked and delicious ($11)!

We would like to go back to try the "Roast & Red Special" on Tuesday nights, as the roast meals going past looked great. We would also ask to be seated in the main restaurant seating area, as it was much quieter, had a better feel to it, and had more passing waiting staff.

The Brisbane has come a long way and I recently saw it mentioned in the Qantas Magazine as one of the more notable “wine pubs” in WA. Met a friend for a light Sunday lunch and although there was a decent crowd there when we arrived, we still had no trouble finding a great place to sit. There is a great courtyard with big tables, small round tables for two and lots of cushioned bench space around a central water feature. Most of the couches and armchairs inside were taken or reserved, but there was space at tables up the front with the sun streaming in. A good mix of patrons too, more of a 30 something, crowd with some kiddies thrown in and some golden oldies too. Everything on the menu looked great so we decided to share a couple of dishes’ salt and pepper squid with aioli and a Greek lamb pizza with baba ganoush and minted yoghurt. The squid looked a bit odd when it came out, it wasn’t browned at all and looked quite raw but it was really tasty (I loooove aioli). The pizza was a nice thin base, a bit light on the lamb but tasty none the less. The other pizza combinations all sounded great and I think it was a great, light meal to share. Service by the team of young, gorgeous and funky wait staff was friendly and prompt and we both agreed it would be a great place to come again with a group of friends for a long lunch.

The Brisbane Hotel has been a firm favourite of mine since mid 2006. Told that the pizzas were divine I had to try for myself. On my first excursion there I had the chorizo pizza, a thin base with a lot of flavour I was reward by the tasty food and laid back atmosphere. The bar staff were all friendly and chatty mind you it was a Wednesday night and therefore the crowds were minimal which meant more service could be given to our small group. Since that time I have visited the Brisbane over 20 times and every time I am not disappointed. Friday nights are packed but at the same time the atmosphere is casual and laid back. My favourite meal to date is the prawn and chorizo salad, so many subtle flavours when combined provide an explosion of taste in your mouth. The Brisbane rarely disappoints, while getting service on a busy Friday or Saturday night can be difficult it is definitely an "it" spot and I certainly recommend it.

Went to the Brisbane for a casual lunch with another friend, and it was a most pleasurable experience.

There were no tables available in the main beer garden, but we were offered a small corner table under the jacaranda tree, which was probably more appropriate for the two of us because we could lounge about on the cushioned benches while we enjoyed a drink and waited for our food.

We decided to share a Thai Chicken pizza (my companion's choice - I was a little reluctant as Asian pizzas are notoriously dodgey!), and a serve of the beer battered fish and chips with tartar sauce.

We did have to wait quite a while for our food to come, but we didn't really notice due to the classy and comfortable surroundings (it was perfect weather for al fresco dining), and with a Beez Neez in hand, nobody was complaining.

When the food arrived, we were presented with the pizza as well as a serve of barramundi on lemon risotto instead of the fish and chips. We informed our waiter who took the plate back and informed us the fish and chips would be 10 minutes more. I actually would have eaten the barramundi with risotto had I not been sharing, because it looked so delicious!
We happily chowed down on the pizza while we waited, and as far as Asian flavoured pizzas go, this was a pleasant surprise. The toppings were tasty and not too strong in Asian flavours that they overpowered the subtlety of the pizza base.

The fish and chips however were the star. We were amply rewarded for our 10 minute wait, as the fish was battered in a beautifully crisp coating which was neither too thick nor too oily/greasy. There were two generous pieces, on top of a generous serve of crispy hand cut chips with a token side salad and some tartar sauce.

All in all it was an extremely pleasant location to enjoy a sunny afternoon with a beer and some very yummy food. Despite the hiccup with the fish, it was just what we were after.

Highly recommended.

I went to the Brisbane for lunch today with two friends and we sat in the garden area, its lush and green and well taken care of. Its a lovely setting, probably the nicest garden i have eaten in and i must comment on the clean and trendy restrooms, very flash!

The service was friendly and professional by the waitress we had while the other waitress had her bum crack constantly on display, which we all found funny but i could see that others around us thought it was disgusting.

Okay on to the food, we started with the dip plate, the Turkish bread was fresh and tasty and the Persian feta just melted in your mouth and the homemade dips were delicious, the sausage was nice but a bit fatty.
We also shared the salt and pepper squid, the homemade aioli was smooth and creamy and the squid just needed a little more seasoning but i liked it!

For mains, my friend had the prawn salad which she enjoyed very much, it wasn't just a pile of leaves. My other friend had the fish of the day which he said was cooked well and the risotto just delicious but the fish was not hot when he got it! I had the Vietnamese chicken salad which was a huge portion and i could not eat it all. This dish was okay, there was nothing at all wrong with it but i probably wouldn't order it again.

On to deserts...mmmm....two of us had the homemade pavlova which we really should have shared as it was bigger than our mains. They were fresh with berries and whipped cream, and the cream wasn't from the cream gun so it was even better. Definitely have desert here. YUM!

All in all i would go back to the Brisbane it was an enjoyable lunch!

my girlfriend and i frequent this establishment nearly every week. it is becoming a little ritual of ours to go down on the weekend, start with a campari or caprioska, then move into the wine list over some of the fantastic food coming out of this little hot spot.

a venue that has such a high demand from its customers, busy periods running from open to close and still manages to provide consistently better than good food, drinks and service deserve all of Perth’s support and thanks for giving to the industry and culture of Perth.

Thank you Geoff for putting this down the road from my house and manning it with industry savvy professionals that enjoy their job and are passionate about giving the customer the experience they want but do not expect.

I went to the Brisbane for a business lunch on Thursday.

I usually just stop at the Brisbane for a beer or two and some pool but this was my first lunch there.

This place had a revamp a year or two back, maybe more, and I think it is definitely one of the best looking and feeling pubs in Perth.

All four of us loved the lunch and commented so throughout the meal. I had the warm chicken salad, which included walnuts and pumpkin with a balsamic dressing.

I have had a fear of pumpkin my whole life (thinking about it made me nauseas) and have started to give it a go recently. Unbeknownst to me, balsamic and pumpkin go brilliantly together and this salad was easily one of the best I have had in a long time.

So simple, and perfect for lunch.

The staff do their job well. They don't interfere but if they are walking past they will quickly check to make sure everything is ok.

For what they are doing there, the Brisbane has got it spot on.

One of our guests flew over from Melbourne that day and he was very impressed with the design and layout of the Brisbane.
