Overall:
We went for dinner and the Kangaroo backstrap was excellent. The kangaroo was very tender but it was also served rare and while I enjoy a medium rare steak this was definitely rare! so if you like your meat well done, then I would let them know.
While the food was fantastic the ambience was not, it felt like a cafe even for dinner. The lighting was to bright and the tables don't have cloths on them so it doesn't make you feel like staying for long, just eating and going. Unfortunately we didn't bring our coats to dinner and of the 9 tables that were occupied, 7 of them had their coats on, one was wearing thick jumpers and we just shivered. We did ask them to turn the heating up which they did, but it was still cold so we left after we had had just a main course.

We had been there previously and enjoyed the steak sandwich so much then, we were determined to try it again to see if the 2nd time around matched our memories of it. Relatives of ours were visiting from abroad and we were showing them the South-West. This was our first lunch stop of the trip. On our recommendation, three of us had the steak sandwich. The onion jam that was served with it made all the difference, besides, the steak being done just right on fresh crusty bread. I tried the seafood chowder on the recommendation of a friend and give it a big thumbs up! Lots of lovely fresh seafood, a good mix of prawns, scallops with the roe on, fish and mussels on the shell in a smooth creamy soup. This came with a nice serve of the same crusty bread to mop up the soup. Others had the Caesar salad served with prawns ( this is an add-on, you can have chicken instead). They were very happy with it. This place caters well for children as they provide kids menus which the kids can colour in on the back as well as a toy corner with toys the kids can play with while waiting for the food to be served. My son had nuggets and chips while his cousins shared a steak and chips. They all came with salad. I highly recommend this place as an ideal stopover when traveling down south.
Overall:
En route to Pemberton for the start of a glorious 5 day holiday in the South West, we decided to celebrate my birthday by treating the extended family to lunch at Equinox in Busselton. The café has glass windows throughout giving a wonderful view of Geographe Bay, Busselton Jetty, the adventure park and being a Sunday, the horde of tourists and locals alike having picnics or a swim.
The steak sandwich ($17.50) served with chips was top notch with a decent size perfectly cooked steak with tomatoes, lettuce and fried onions sandwiched between their own home baked bread. All 3 adults who had it shared the same positive enthusiasm. The seafood chowder ($19) was declared the best my sister ever had with prawns, fish, mussels and scallops. Only my Caesar salad with prawns ($17) was a slight disappointment due to insufficient dressing and the prosciutto too crispy until it was actually hard. However, the five prawns were very fresh and grilled to perfection. The biggest surprise of all was the kids meal of steak and salad with chips/mash. My daughter declared it really yummy. At $8.50, it was way ahead of the other normal kids choices of nuggets & chips, fish & chips etc. Not a cheap café but the quality speaks for itself.
