Welcome to Cafe Relish

Cafe Relish is a great place to meet up with friends before heading to the beach, or just to be able to relax in a casual setting but still with the great service. Good value and an easy way to enjoy a few hours on the weekend.

Food:

I've already reviewed Cafe Relish once but I'm not sure I really did it justice. I just visited with a group of friends and everyone raved about the food. We started by sharing a taste plate and plate of dips and everything on the plates was top quality. The dips were different to your standard dips and really lovely. There's an interesting choice of mains including pastas, beef fillet, sausages, mash and gravy, and snapper pie, as well as a few daily specials. A friend ordered a prawn pasta which she loved and couldn't believe how many prawns there were. Another friend thought her kangaroo dish was great. I can't go past the steak. I've had it a few times and it's always perfect. Desserts are cakes and tarts and are unbelievably good

Service:

I can't fault the service. The staff are friendly and accommodating and we had quite a nice chat with the waitress on the way out.

Ambience:

It's a cafe and it feels like a cafe but it has a certain warmth and is comfortable.

Overall:
The food at Cafe Relish is great. It seems to get pretty busy though so I'd book. I think they have a cheap pasta night but I'm not sure when it is. They do do takeaway if you can't get a table. Apparently it's popular with a few of the Eagles if you fancy a perv. Ashley Hanson was there when we dined there and Danny Green came in to pick up some takeaway. Makes the night a bit more exciting to spot a few 'celebs'.

Cafe Relish is my regular breakfast haunt on a Sunday morning, for a different swing on breakfast you must try here. A couple of dishes to mention are the Kickstarter, a combination of bacon, spinach, sausages, tomato and mushrooms with a hint of chilli, a fantastic cure for any hangover or hungry stomach. They also do a great Vegetarian Breakfast and Eggs Rumble.

A bit out of the ordinary, but once you have been here for breakfast you will find it hard to go elsewhere. They also bake their own bread on the premises, which is a great change from Tip Top with your breakie.

Cafe Relish is a small slightly alternative cafe, and you have to love that about it, it is always extremely busy at breakfast, but food and service are both great. Is is moderate on the pricing but completely worth it.

I also decided to drop in here for dinner last year to sample the dinner menu. Both my partner and I had seafood dishes, which we both loved, the food was fresh, tasty and the night time at this restaurant is quite relaxed and their is a nice quiet ambience, with table candles and dimmer lights. Wine is also BYO. I have also noticed that coming in 2008 they have added a Pasta Night. I will definitely dropping in to try this one out.

Sadly they have been closed over the X-mas/New Year period, so I am eagerly waiting their re-opening to head back for one of their famous Kickstarter Breakfasts.

Great little place to head for a casual breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday or dinner during the week. Highly recommended.

I am updating my review of Cafe relish as I went there last night.

The food was lovely, I had the lamb shanks and they were cooked to perfection with lovely mash and beans. My husband also enjoyed his pork.

It is a great place to go for a casual meal, all the food is very fresh and tasty. I am back to being a regular!!

Cafe Relish is a nice casual cafe, nothing flash but quite a nice vibe.

I had the steak for my main and it was sensational - cooked to perfection and pretty good value too. The tart that I had for dessert was really lovely too. Staff were friendly.

I've visited once for brekky also. It gets pretty busy but once again the food was great. I can recommend the kickstarter which consists of spuds, bacon, spinach, tomatoes and chilli. A really tasty and different breakfast dish.

Had dinner here last night as it is close to home.

Used to frequent this cafe because I knew the owners and staff (and the food was pretty good) but haven’t been here recently.

Okay - the entrees were lovely - the tasting plate of Turkish bread, babaganoush, chili relish, chorizo and fetta was delicious and a great size.

The other entree was a chili/salt squid. This has been on the menu forever and still remains my favourite. Beautifully cooked twirls of calamari (coated in wonderful spices and chili) on a bed of thinly sliced capsicum, carrot with lots of sprouts etc and a vinaigrette dressing…delicious! :-)

The mains unfortunately let the experience down. My tomato, gruyere and thyme tart, although flavoursome, was badly constructed and very hard to eat. The tomatoes on the tart were also whole (and they were not small) so it was impossible to eat properly. The gruyere was kind of "dumped" in a big lump on top of the tart. My partner had the Rogan Josh lamb and said it was very average. The service was good, the restaurant is BYO and the atmosphere is cosy and casual. Maybe next time I will try some other mains!
