Welcome to Caffe Martino

Caffe Martino

Caffe Martino offers exceptional meals, specialising in gourmet wood-fired pizza, pasta, steak chicken and seafood with a wide selection of local wines to complement the menu. All meals are reasonably priced and prepared fresh everyday. The family owned restaurant presents itself as a traditional Italian home-styled trattoria with an ambience of a lively piazza a place to meet, eat and enjoy the company of others.

The staff at Caffe Martino are very experienced and provide exceptional service. On Friday and Saturday nights head chef Daniel Benn will tantalise your tastebuds with ever changing speciality dishes such as the popular carpet bag steak served with natural oysters or Balmain Bugs baked with pastry and served on a tangy saffron rice with mango sauce.

If a quick meal for a busy weekday is more on the agenda, join us for dinner from Monday to Thursday. A wide selection of Pizzas and Pastas are available for $9.95, or simply drop in for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

Caffe Martino caters for large group booking for special functions and offers all meals on a takeaway menu. If you would like any further information just leave a message on our answering machine and one of the staff will call you back.
Book early to avoid dissappointment!

This has to be one of the worst meals I have ever eaten in my life. My friend ordered a vegetarian pizza, which came literally covered in soggy asparagus spears. It was like someone up-ended a tin of asparagus onto the pizza. It also tasted terrible. My friend had one slice and couldn't eat any more, it was so bad.

I ordered a carbonara, which was completely uninspiring. Frozen bacon cubes had been used (the sort you buy from a packet), and there was no liquid in the cheese sauce - just a thick, gluggy, cheesy mess.

I went on one of the 'cheap pizza and pasta' nights. Even paying a reduced price, I did not get what I paid for. Truly awful.

Service:

The service was impersonal at best, and upon paying I was presented with the bill without being asked how the meal was. Nobody checked on us during the meal. Also, the meals came out staggered.

Ambience:

To top off our already unbearable evening at this restaurant, we were sat next to a children's birthday party. So, as for ambience, I guess one could liken my experience to being at a McDonald's playground.

Overall:
This is truly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I would strongly recommend that you steer clear of this restaurant. The food was so bad, it was funny. If I had of paid full price for it, on one of the non-discount nights, I wouldn't have found it quite so funny. When food is this bad, and the service and the place we were sat was so bad, I really feel insulted as a diner.

Food:

Terrible. The pizza was burned. We had to leave so many pieces on the plate. The lasagna was microwaved. It was still slightly cold inside. The waiter admitted it when we asked him.
Disgusting. The worst Italian food I've ever had. It wasn't really cheap, either.
Makes me ill to think of the bad experience again.

Service:

So-so. Not fantastic as they didn't check up on us. We had to call the waiter/waitress each time. At least the waiter admitted to the microwaved lasagna...

Ambience:

OK for a cheap (not the prices) family restaurant.

Overall:
Stay away from this place. Try any of the other places in Mt Lawley or in Northbridge. Otherwise go to Fremantle.

Pretty disappointing, 2 of us ordered a medium sirloin steak, 1 ordered a medium rare sirloin and 1 ordered a chicken pasta. steaks came out all medium-well, the pasta looked like it was thrown on a plate and came from a supermarket packet, and for a Italian/Mediterranean restaurant, thats not too pleasing. Our pasta-loving friend ended up only eating 1/4 of her pasta dish.

Service:

We were very disappointed with the service, We ordered 3 sirloin steaks, 2 ordered medium and 1 ordered a medium rare, when the steaks came out, we asked the waiter which one was which, his reply " i don't know, i was told two steaks" we were utterly flabbergasted.. so we just took them gobsmacked.

Ambience:

Didn't really have ambiance, felt more like a pizza joint than a nice warm Italian restaurant..

Overall:
Extremely disappointing. After waiting 25 minutes and still not receiving our starters, we had to ask a waiter to check for us. By the end of the evening we all left the restaurant quite disappointed with the poor quality of food and service.. We heard such good things (maybe we should have just stuck to the pizza), however, to be honest we probably wont be coming back.

After about 20 minutes waiting we had to flag down a waitperson to place our order as it seemed we were forgotten about, we ordered a serve of garlic bread which lacked any real flavour, grilled sausage and pizza Bianca to share between the five of us was ok but not great, Bianca was burnt and overcooked. The mains arrived about after about 20 minutes, we got 2 soggy pizzas, uncooked seafood in the risotto and a very watery spaghetti Bolognaise (containing not much meat) we did get a reasonably good cannelloni which looked and tasted nice. As for desserts there was only two very dry pieces of cake in the display so we passed on dessert.

Service:

Service was very slow, waited almost an hour for all our entrees to arrive, they did arrive all separate with the drinks and the Pizza Bianca about 15 minutes after that, but still no water. We then ordered more drinks but they never showed up at all

Ambience:

Ambience was good, not to noisy as was a quiet night, great Italian music playing adding to the atmosphere.

Overall:
Very disappointing, having to wait so long in a quiet restaurant for our entrees and no body caring at all, very poor quality food and service, seemed we were not the only ones voicing their concerns over the service times, this was once a place that you struggled to get into, no one came near us unless we waived them down, no one cared how long we waited, and no one apologized, not good for a quiet night with only 25 people in the restaurant not one place i will be returning to soon

My friends told us about this place, it had $10.95 pasta or pizza, Monday to Thursday - said the food was great, large serves, good service and great price! The first time I went it lived up to its name. The second time it was busy and as it's such a small place it get VERY noisy, but still everything else was great. The third time terrible. They sat (husband & I) in a small table right in front of the swinging door through to the toilets & kitchen. We were continually bumped, people put their hands on our table, and having 1 door through to the kitchen and toilets AND seeing it....was kinda disturbing. Still their food is great. Prices have also gone up to $11.95 or $12.95. However due to the noise level & the way we were treated one night....my husband never wants to go back. Shame.

Went here for a late dinner with a friend on a Tuesday night. As all the other reviews have stated, don't expect good service. We were better served than some of the others, but it was all very blunt and rushed, with no niceties. Oh well, the meals came out quite quickly.

The food was quite good - not the best, but good value for money. we only had the calamari (very nice and decent portion for entrée size) and a pizza (average - bit of a sloppy job as far as toppings and slicing went)

The ambience was nothing special - it didn't feel as cramped as others have stated, but it was quite late at night.

Overall, you get the impression that the restaurant is not looking to improve in any way - it obviously gets good enough business (being open late no doubt helps) to not be encouraged to improve.

Food & Wine was well priced and both had very extensive menus.

Service was quick and attentive - however we were dining on a Monday evening.

We had a very enjoyable experience overall and will definitely be returning.

Great Pizzas at $10 a go.

Pasta is not too bad in my opinion.

Service can be a bit dodgy as the staff are pretty much rushed off their feet.

The restaurant gets very busy so if you are thinking of making a night of it, they don't like it when you hang around (unless you continue to order).

Food is good. Price is excellent. Service not so good.

Checked out this place a few weeks ago. Cheap pasta and pizza. Will serve you bottled water if you don’t ask for tap water specifically :( Average pasta for a low price.

This restaurant has been reviewed alot, so I won't say too much, just add my 2 cents. It was very crowded and noisy on a Thursday night, but with pizzas and pastas at $10.95 that's understandable. I've been craving pizza for about a month now, and Dominoes and Pizza Hut just don't cut it. Caffe Martino does. The pizza was very good indeed, crust just the right texture, sauce not too little or too much and not overly strong, and plenty of mozzerella cheese and toppings but with no one overwhelming flavour. Everyone I was with seemed happy enough with their meals, maybe not wildly enthusiastic, but not disappointed either. I wish I lived a little closer as I would probably get the pizza as takeaway on a regular basis.

Caffe Martino is a restaurant that offers value for money, and is packed even on weeknights. Their $10 pasta and pizza specials are huge, I've never been able to finish a serving myself.

Having said that, the food is not amazingly tasty but only average or slightly above. It is worth going for a simple meal however but do not expect a culinary delight.

It's always very packed and noisy, with tables quite close together and generally a nice ambiance. The owners are not friendly or helpful, but the other staff are nice. They do tend to hire a lot of non english speakers who have trouble taking difficult orders.

I would not visit here on a Friday or Saturday night and pay full price, but what you get with their weeknight special is worthwhile.

We went for dinner on one of their $10 pizza and pasta nights. Very busy atmosphere, the place was packed.. had a real italian feel. Ordered an antipasto platter to share for entree it was probably the best anitpasto I've had ---- the warm italian sausage was delicious!.... Meal sizes were large could only eat about half of mine after the entree.

Great Value, definately worth a try.

I haven't been to one of those cheap pizza and pasta nights at Cafe Martino or Sienas before, but last Thursday we gave it a whirl. The pizza and pasta was great but the antipasto was amazing. Try it, try it now!@#!@$ p.s. Don't get bread with your antipasto.
