Overall:
out with the family again, this time celebrating my mothers birthday with an excellent time all round. food was exceptionally good , although the purple spuds threw me dad out a bit!

we had a table of 5 and were there for lunch, we had a nice bottle of red and three kids in tow. service was great and the girls were very helpful.

we had tried almost what was on the menu and i couldn’t fault much except for my me old boy who thinks everything has its place and time.

anyway highly recommended are really good value for money! love it all , we'll be back for sure!

Overall:
Sue and I picked an interesting day to 'blow in' to Capel Vale. I have been an occasional wine buyer there since the days when the galvo shed attached to the winery usd to house their trophies, but it is a far cry from those days now.

There is a purpose built restaurant and tasting facility. We got there around 2.30pm and made sure we got into the restaurant first, then wine-tasted. As it turned out, there was a wedding in the vineyard at 4pm, with the reception to take place in the restaurant afterward - we'd better eat quickly!

And we ate well! A bottle of their Whispering Hill (Mt Barker) Riesling accompanied Sue's fish dish and (surprisingly) my duck with five-spice. Both were presented in a style that didn't indicate they were trying to rush us out the door (which they were).

And the wines? Yes, we spent some money there. If you are a Shiraz drinker, I recommend spending the $50 it will cost you for the Kinnaird Shiraz 2002. We got to sample the 1996 Kinnaird as well, but I'd rather have the 2002 (and that's what I bought). The Whispering Hill Riesling is one of the best WA Rieslings you could try.
