Overall:
Service was terrible, waiter that understood and spoke very little english, it was almost funny! And don't forget to tell them how "hot" you want your chilli mussels!
Having been here twice previously for a meal before a movie at Paradiso, I thought the food and service was great. But going back on Sat night with a group of 10 people, it did not live up to it's previous standards.
Firstly, 3 of us ordered an extra large mussels to share together for entree, and we were not asked how we wanted it (e.g mild, medium, hot etc), and as we were a typical group chattering away, we didn't even think to ask ourselves (it's the waiter's job to ask us, I would have thought!) When the mussels came out, it was so friggin' hot, that we struggled to eat it, let alone enjoy it!. Garlic bread was tasty, and so was the "capriccio" pizza that one member of the group had.
For mains, the grilled "fish of the day" was overcooked, which was a shame, as you could see that it would have been a nice piece of snapper, except that it had become tough and dry in the cooking process. The scaloppini masala and tortellini carbonara got the thumbs up, but the risotto (both types available on the menu) go a very big thumbs down!! It was very salty and killed any flavour which was there. The garlic prawns were the cheap imported variety, which is cheeky considering the charge of $23.50 for 5-6 little prawns!
So, the moral of the story is: stick to the pasta and pizza, which is what we will do, if we ever go back.
