Food:

i've been a couple times with a small group of friends, and while some of the dishes were fine, we always come accross a couple which are far from satisfactory. The lemon chicken serve was so small - only one piece of chicken breast sliced into four or five pieces and the sauce was terrible- i couldn't eat it. We also tried the mongolian beef and sichzuan chicken with both sauces tasting the same. I find the food a let down- a bit disappointing.

Service:

Service is basic, not much of restaurant service but more like going to a cafe. Staff are adequate, they get the job done.

Ambience:

The ambience is okay in the morley Chatters, its not very cosy but ideal for a quick meal. The midland Chatters is much nicer inside, very big although the booth-style tables are uncomfortable to sit down and eat at

Overall:
It is much like a cafe or a place to grab a quick meal and head off somewhere else. I don't find it a pleasant place to sit down and enjoy a meal with family/friends.

We are regular Chatters junkies, I find it to be very reasonably priced as well as delicious food. We have just returned from a holiday in Bali and searched high & low for the best Mee Goreng! I hate to say it but Chatters wins the search so far. There was not one Mee Goreng I tried that had as much flavour as the Chatters version.
WAY TO GO CHATTERS!!! I would also like to recommend the Teriyaki Chicken (especially for children), Pandan Chicken (entree) and the Deep Fried Spicy Fish (very tasty). Why got to Chinese, Thai or Indonesian when you can get it all at chatters.

First of all, the food is very mediocre here and definitely not as good as, say, Han's, which is far from spectacular. We had szechuan pork, mongolian beef and sweet and sour fish. All the sauces were bizarre and not to our taste. Lots of sugar! The fish was like three pieces of fried fish floating in a liter of gooey red sugar sauce. The mongolian beef was 90% onion and the black bean sauce was weird and sweet. Those two didn't fill us up (we're pretty average size guys) so we had the szechuan pork which was just greasy and mostly onion scraps.

Service:

Service was fine and friendly as it was late afternoon on the weekend so the place was empty. The Chinese boy at the bar is cute!!!

Ambience:

Location near the seedy Morley Markets can be tough to find parking. Ambiance is inoffensive. Dark walls and modern look. Clean. Weird tinted windows don't exactly invite folks in. And who came up with the name Chatters? Sounds like a gay bar. We never would have guessed it was Chinese food

Overall:
Can't say we would return. Han's has a better menu and more reliable and authentic cooking. Any Chinese place which caters down to the Australian palate is going to be trouble.

I've eaten here quite a few times and without exception, the result has been great. Food is excellent, served quickly but without making you feel rushed and prices realistic.

My only adverse comment would be that the water feature is looking a bit tired and even grotty and could do with a considerable bit of tarting up.

Overall, I'd strongly recommend Chatters - don't miss their satay!!

Last night (17/10/2007) my GF and me went to chatters for dinner. The venue wasnt busy and we were seated straight away. Greeted by a waiter who seemed to have nothing else to do. We ordered and within only a few moments steamy satay beef and pad thai (bowl of rice) were delivered to our table. The food was great just we felt bad when there was so much left. The waiter was a little confusing but pointing to what we wanted worked so all good.

This place is just great. My family will always opt to return to this place. My father was recently in hospital after having an operation and the first thing he said was can we please go to Chatters and get him some dinner. So off we went and ordered his favourite choices one being Honey Pepper Spare Ribs. We had the picnic set packed and within 30 mins the food was ready and off we went to the hospital to have our dinner.

This place is great if you have not been you are missing out on some really tasty food....

Last Saturday my lady friend and I returned to the Chatters after an excellent movie (Ratatouille). We always skip the Entrees to give us more Mains choices.

The Choo-Chee Fish was excellent. The Ka-Tha Chicken (stirred fried chicken with some spicy sauce and red wine) served on top of a bed of raw onion was at best average. The Sambal Prawn similarly served on top of a bed of raw onions was positively poor. I got the impression they were trying to get rid of onions this week. The last time we came all our 3 mains were served with identical salad.

For an Asian Restaurant I was also disappointed a rice bucket is unavailable to keep the steam rice warm. That's because the way to enjoy steam rice is rather than taking all the rice you think you need from the start is to take a couple of times from the rice bucket over the course of the meal.

As Squizzy has already mentioned, she and I caught up recently for a mid-week lunch and chose Chatters for the venue as we both were interested in giving it a try after the reviews on EWA. Crayon was going to join us but had to pull out as one of her kiddies was sick. Chatters is a quite large venue with lots of glass and clean lines, giving it quite an airy atmosphere. The restaurant was fairly busy although whether this is because it is a sought-after venue or due to its location by the Galleria and the Morley Markets is hard to say. You don't feel like you are in a busy restaurant though.

Our orders were taken fairly swiftly by a smiling gentleman, (owner maybe?) with the food following after a very brief wait. As Squizzy said, I had prawns in blankets which were very tasty and Squizz had the beef satay sticks. We sampled each others entrees and I think we both preferred our own dish but enjoyed the other. My main of chicken green curry came out in a bowl of curry broth packed with tender pieces of chicken and heaps of veges, mainly capsicum but otherwise a good variety, and a separate bowl of rice. This was the lunch special and it was very good value for money as well as being very tasty, so much so I had a hankering for green curry for days afterwards! Squizzy's lunch special of honey chicken however came out with a mound of rice sitting next to a few pieces of honey chicken (no batter from memory but I could be wrong). It really looked a bit pathetic next to the rice and they were only sticky, not sauced. I don't remember if I tried it or not. I definitely won out in the ordering stakes though! I gave Squizzy some of my curry (mainly sauce) so that she could finish her meal.

All up we paid $42.50 for two entrees, two lunch specials, two cool drinks and one mocha (?) coffee which was pretty good value. While we were there, there was a substantial amount of drool-worthy food smells wafting by us, with most people ordering main share-type meals. There was also a young child's birthday happening at a nearby table so when the cake came out, there was a rendition of "Happy Birthday" flowing through the restaurant. Would definitely return.

As some of you may already know, i caught up with thecatswhiskers for lunch and we went to chatters, ive wanted to try this place for ages and finally ive had my chance.

It was quite busy for a weekday but service was friendly and prompt.

I had my usual satay sticks for entree and tried one of cats prawn in a blanket...very yum.

For mains i ordered the honey chicken and when it came out it looked rather small, it was also lacking in sauce so at the end of my meal i was left with a large mound of dry rice! fortunately cat kindly shared some of her thai green curry with me so i had some liquid to finish my rice, oh and the green curry was very tasty! All up i will return there are lots of dishes that i would still like to try.

When I went to chatters for dinner with my family, it was on a Saturday night, which was busy and we didn't have a booking. It was good how they still let us in but we had to wait 5mins to set the table, which was ok. The service was good and the food was fabulous. I liked the BYO, you can bring wine or spirits which is good.

I will go there again, the food, service, ambience was great.

I've reviewed Chatters before, but we usually get takeaway from there, and I've since discovered 2 more favourite dishes so I thought I'd add a little something more. Stopped in for a quick dinner at 7:30 on a Saturday, and the restaurant was full but we snagged the last table for 2. It is quite noisy when the restaurant is busy, but the atmosphere was comfortable and the service good. I asked the waitress for a recommendation of a fish dish, and she suggested the Choo Chee Fish, which is a slightly crispy fillet in a beautifully flavoured coconut chili sauce. The other dish I've really enjoyed from Chatters lately (but this one doesn't work too well as takeaway) is the Gatiam Pik Squid (or prawns), which is a crispy battered squid with lots of garlic and chili in a lightly, slightly sweet sauce. It's somewhat similar to Hans Cafe's Squid Pepper, but with lots more garlic.

Love this place! We used to go to Hans and now we go here instead. Have been here dozens of times with the kids and it has become a family favourite. The food arrives almost instantly, its tasty and there is a large menu selection. Average cost for our 2 adults 2 kids is around $40. Must try the Jungle curry beef, Long Song chicken, Teriyaki chicken (kids think it’s KFC). The staff here are always friendly and we have often taken in a McDonalds happy meal for the youngest to eat before we converted her tastebuds and they don't seem to mind at all. One word of advice though, you must ring ahead to see if you can get in if you have not booked, weekends and weekdays. We usually get in because we dine around 5.30 or 6pm and are gone by 7pm so they can seat more diners. Also they don't use MSG or any nasty stuff, my friend is highly allergic and has been coming here for years also.

The first day I moved into Morley, we found this place. On a summer's night, we were wandering around the concrete jungle of fast food restaurants surrounding the galleria, this place was buzzing.

It was a Monday, and we were told that we were lucky to get in without a booking.

As mentioned by another reviewer, this restaurant is what Han's cafe should be: decent Asian food at a reasonable price.

The food can be hit and miss. The portions are generous. Some dishes are great, some average, but always hot and never unappealing. Not too greasy. I wouldn't recommend any dishes with squid however.

The service is.. very efficient. You will never be left complaining about not being served. An army of waitpersons march around at high speed seating patrons, taking and delivering orders promptly, bringing bottles of (free) water as soon as you sit down. You may be served by up to five different staff in one meal. Once I went to the toilet after dining on my own to find that my table had been cleared (although I was still drinking my water). The staff have always been quite friendly to me, if sometimes a little brisk.

I have to disagree with previous reviewers on the ambience. The decor doesn't do much for me. They have two types of chairs and they are both rubbish (you can't lean back in them at all as they bend). The water feature is a bit dirty. The tables are a bit cramped. The place buzzes, usually with a lot of families.

The menu is huge, and all in all, if you want a guaranteed decent feed at a sensible price, it's always worth a go.

What can I say, except quote the famous lines of Molly Ian Meldrum and say "Do Yourself a Favour", visit this fabulous eating establishment. It’s got everything an Asian restaurant should have.

Firstly my experience began with the not so run of the mill decor. The place is tastefully decorated more in a new age Japanese decor, although the food is Asian Singaporean. There is a water feature which creates a warm dining ambience.

The best thing about Chatters is the food. The satay here is too die for. Do not go past the honey chicken. The best honey chicken in Perth, people who have had it here will swear by it.

Also other highly recommended dishes are the Long Song Chicken - this is a generous dish for this restaurant and believe me its tender and succulent to the last morsel.

Service is excellent here. The staff are friendly and attentive.

You want more, well you can get it here. The prices are song here. Want to eat the best food and pay a paupers price, then you can do no wrong with Chatters as your selection. Most dishes range around the $9.00 to $12.00 mark.

Summarising, Chatters has everything. The food menu is extensive and the quality and price is better than average. The service is of a high standard and the ambience also rates higher than your average Chinese restaurant.

Parking is not a problem and just when you thought it couldn't get any better you discover its got byo. Sensational. Do not pass go, go straight to Chatters...its will keep you ranting even after numerous visits.

I have eaten in the restaurant and got takeaway numerous times from this restaurant, the staff are very friendly and the food is always very, very tasty. I love that the meats are always tender and the veges are always vibrant in colour so you know they are fresh.

What I also like about this place is that it is actually a trendy little eatery and you don't feel like you are sitting in a cheap restaurant even though it is incredible value for money. I had friends over one night and it was cheaper for the three of us to get dinner from there than for me to have gone to the shops and cooked us dinner. They also have chips and stuff for the kids which is good for those fussy eaters.

Over all I have been there about five times and I will be back again.

Let me see, how should I start.

I will have to say that i have to thank Hans' Cafe in part for helping me find out about Chatters' Restaurant. Fed up about the way i was treated at Hans cafe, I was lamenting about the lack of Asian restaurants to my friends when they suggested Chatters.

I have been back for the past few days now and i am going back tonight with my partner and some friends for dinner.

Well, when you step into Chatters' there is a certain kind of atmosphere around the place. A kind of happy atmosphere. Everyone is smiling, enoying themselves, and the service staff are always buzzing around taking care of customers need. This sort of rubs off on you and you tend to be sort of becoming happy, if you know what i mean.

For the food, it is really really good when compared to han's. Most importantly, they serve HOT food!!!! As mentioned, you must try their longsong dish (i.e. a thai style satay sauce dish.) Beautiful! After that, a must have is their Ginger fish and their pineapple fried rice.

Their prices are pretty reasonable too. It starts of at $5.50 for entrees and the most expensive dish on the menu is only for $12.

After tonight, i will know more of their food as these are the only ones i have tried so far. Will try to add more after my meal tonight, and seek more recommendation from their staff.

Looking forward to my dinner tonight!!!!

Crayon, although I disagree wth your take on Hans just around the corner, I have to endorse your review of Chatters. Service needs a little work, but the other elements are there, and whoever is in the kitchen knows his stuff. Highly recommended (above any Hans restaurant!)and the best Asian restaurant in the Morley area (for pure Chinese, Sun-On is next)

Chatters is the restaurant I get takeaway from the most, and I have also been there to eat several times. It's usually quite busy at night, but has pretty good food and a pleasant atmosphere. My favourite dishes so far are the Chatter's Red Chilli Beef and the Long Song Chicken (breast meat in satay-type sauce with snow peas). The Jungle Curry Chicken and Jungle Curry Beef are also quite good. Cashew Chicken is not bad but a little bland, and I've had mixed luck with the Char Kway Teow (sp?, finding it good once and having almost no flavour another time.

All in all, though, more hits than misses and so far the best option I've found for Asian cuisine in Morley. The menu seems to be a mix of Chinese and Thai dishes, and the Thai style ones are marked with TS.
