I've been eating Chelsea Pizza for many years now and I rate them as having the best pizza in Perth. I usually order the Tandoori or Nog. They have a thin style base and use lots of fresh ingredients. The restaurant is suited to families. A casual atmosphere, my kids love the crayons and colouring, but you usually have to ask the staff for them when you come in. Their kitchen is always very busy and we like to watch the pizzas being made, it really is amazing to see them make the pizzas so fast, I reckon they'd have to be the busiest pizza store in Perth. Because it's so busy, I'd suggest you phone ahead for your pizzas if you're picking up, but you shouldn't need to make a booking for the restaurant. Chelsea are an old and loved favourite.
Overall:
My first experience of chelseas was a fantastic one, the second experience had a fair bit to live up too and sadly fell short and not by a little bit in my oppinion.
I understand what its like in the food business when you are busy the standards drop in order for production to increase. The food took about 15-20minutes (both times) which for a pizza is totally acceptable.
When i went the other night I was really looking forward to a great pizza just like the last time. Started off with a serve of new norsia garlic bread which was wonderful and then the pizzas came. It felt like the base was pre-rolled and then put in the fridge and when needed to be used was taken out. The dough had a terrible texture to it but the toppings were of high quality and there was plenty on there.
Service was pretty good for them being busy. Water was brought out and so was tobasco.
Price wasnt too bad at all with the bill coming very close to $40 for a serve of garlic bread and two main pizzas. No drinks were ordered apart from water (complimentary).
The ambiance inside leaves a lot to be desired but for a casual meal it suits me fine.
Would I go back in a hurry? Nope. But I am sure I will be back at some stage though.
Overall:
Chelsea isn't really much of a dine-in experience, since there's really no ambience so-to-speak. The pizza is fantastic (I agree with the previous reviewer, the 'Greek' is really tasty) and is $3-5 cheaper if you pick it up. Service is always good.
They used to make one of my favourite desserts here, "Monica's vanilla bean ice-cream and butterscotch layers." It's still on the menu, but they no longer make it. A real pity. Bring it back guys!

Does take away count?? On a very busy night, with no menu in front of me, I called up to order pizza to the Sommerville (UWA). I could tell the girl on the phone was frantic and felt bad for her, but hey, we had to eat, right? Between 4 of us we got 2 pizzas, one was Greek style with feta and was fabulous, the other i can't quite recall, but it all went so it couldnt have been bad!
PLUS! The driver comes right to the gates of the Sommerville and waits for you :) Gotta love that.
Sorry – can’t comment on the ambience of Chelsea, but the Sommerville is always great!
