Overall:
Well despite their losing my email booking, we were seated as if nothing were amiss, despite it being Easter Sunday lunch. Admittedly, we were on time for our noon booking for two, so it really shouldn't have been a hassle anyway.
We ordered the sun-dried tomato and basil bread as we sat down - we have been there before and know how scrumptious it is. This gave us something to nibble as we perused the menu. The waiter noted that our table wobbled and without any prompting, immediately set about rectifying this. He also suggested we have some of their olives while we were ordering. I don't actually like olives but when they came out, I ended up eating half a dozen of them and some of the sun dried tomato that came with them. With the bread as well, I had my own mini-tapas. The Chenin Blanc went very well with them also.
I went on to have the goats cheese dish followed by the honey soy prawns - both entree sized. My partner also had entree sized meals, as they aren't small, of the quail's breast and the smoked salmon and avocado. They were all well presented and very tasty. There was a flavour with the goat's cheese dish that I didn't care for, which while not spread through the meal, dominated it for me. (My partner disagreed, so it is probably just me.) I was too full to finish my prawns which annoyed me no end!
We had quite a wait to be offered coffee/dessert - some twenty minutes - and we were just about to go when the waitress rocked up. They nearly missed out on our coffee and chocolates trade, as we had decided to go to a Swan Valley cafe on the way home. Both, however, were very nice.
They omitted the olives from the bill and when this was pointed out to them; let it slide, as it was their tough luck! The menu and the day's specials always look so appealing on paper it is hard to choose. Everything has always delivered as per the written word.
It is quite casual in dress standards and in the presentation of the restaurant itself. However the food is far superior to the setting and the wait staff serve according to the standard of food, not the setting. They seem to be a bit weak on the last part of the meal as we experienced a similar thing to above last time we went. They seem to forget about you after your dinner plates have been cleared away. Word of advice - ask for the dessert menu at that point!
Lots of families and while a couple of the families had brought footies for their kids to play with, it wasn't very pleasant to have the football being kicked around the path as you leave. Other families brought books and small toys for their kids to do at the table. Much preferred in a restaurant.
Highly recommended.
