Food:

The very tasty food was all served on square dishes with very freshly prepared salad garnishes.

In general, the menu was a bit on the pricey side for Thai cuisine, but the servings were reasonably generous and worth the effort for another visit.

The Stuffed Chicken Wings was very overpriced - at $12.90 for two tiny winglets

Service:

Although the staff were courteous and pleasant, It took 1 hour and 5 minutes before they actually took our order. We then waited another hour before the food arrived; ALL at the same time. I had drunk more than half a bottle of wine by the time the food was served and couldn't care less. Not good!

Ambience:

I enjoyed the ambience in the secluded section. They cater for groups on Saturday nights and I enjoyed the unusual ambience of astro-turf and open space with well-laid out tables, linen and tableware. They could turn down the spot-lights a little and add Thai music, but it was good ambience overall.

Overall:
I visited CDT as a small group of 6 on a Saturday and would definitely visit again. I enjoyed the location, ambience, great food and service, but would be better prepared next time by ensuring the waitstaff took our orders within 15 minutes of being seated and that the arrival of the dishes were staggered. The owner/manager, Rob, looks and sounds like a very professional man and I'm sure he would oversee the improvement of service of this venue. I recommend CDT as a current favourite.

I go to Chock Dii fairly often and it never lets me down. Great fresh flavours, crunchy fresh vegies and good Thai flavours. The beef with pepper is a standout, as is the pad thai. The salt and pepper squid is good too.

The astro turf and shed roof make it look a bit dodgy, but who cares if the food is good and you're only there for a casual meal.

Overall:
I definitely recommend this place for a delicious, fresh Thai meal. Not the best decor but for a casual meal, it's fine.

I have eaten in this restaurant a couple of times, recently for my birthday. The service was excellent, the food very tasty & fresh. Don't be put off by it's location and outside appearance. It's definitely worth a visit.

Decided to bless Chock Dii Thai with my presence last friday night. I never noticed this place before since it's hidden among other "dodgy" takeaway places. The place is actually much bigger than one is led to believe from outside. The dining area has a very warm and inviting feeling to it. It looks to be a family-owned and run business.

One of the surprises (a really good one), is that the coconut juice I ordered was actually served from the actual coconut, freshly cut and carved to a presentable shape. And you can even scrape the flesh inside once you've done with your drink. This just reminded me of my childhood days (yes, I'm originally from a tropical island).

The menu is thai of course, but it has a little element of fusion here and there on the menu. We sampled a few dishes, some of which I can't even remember how it's written. The pineapple fried rice was a standout. The dishes all had good flavours, although some vegetables were overcooked while some were underdone (like they were all put at once in the wok/pan). The curries are moderately spicy, enough to bring a sensitive diner to a light sweat, but not make you shed tears through your skin like some of the indian restaurants around here.

A nice cozy place, ideal for a quiet dinner with friends / families. Service is casual and very friendly.

This is a lovely little cafe style Thai restaurant hidden away amongst some less pleasant looking take away style foods across from the Balmoral Hotel. Very simple decor - plastic garden chairs - but with a lovely little water feature in the side room (the main seating area). The owner greeted us and guided us through the extensive menu. Meant to be authentic Thai and not Westernised, but as I have never been to Thailand, I couldn't comment. The mixed entrees were a lovely start to the meal and the green seafood curry and rice were very fragrant and tasty. The seafood is all real ie no seafood extender like a lot of places use. Don't usually care for desserts but the desserts were lovely. Not too sweet.

One of the best Thai meals I have had. BYO.
