  • Whoever hit on the idea of the modern Indian restaurant certainly invented a cash cow! Yes, compared to a la carte, the prices appear most reasonable. However considering that what you're getting is a small bowl of mass-produced stew ladled out of a giant pot, perhaps not so.
The allure of Indian food should be the exotic flavours and aromas, however I ordered my perennial favourite the Rogan Josh, and it had none. It was a tasteless podge, unless you count pain as a flavour.
I also sampled the Butter Chicken, which was average.

I must say that the Naan with cottage cheese and onion was delicious. If you dine here, you really must try it.

  • You cant fault the initial service, and the food couldnt possibly have arrived any quicker, it was astonishing.
However as the restaurant became busier, the staff struggled and follow-up service was lacking. It was a stormy Thursday night, so perhaps they werent expecting such a full house.

  • Have been going to the Cinnamon Club pretty much since it opened and the food has always been consistently brilliant. Favourites being the chicken Biryani and the chargrilled veges with coriander sauce. Both where spicy and rich and generous in proportion. However during on our last visit the portions had been down sized and the spice was lacking, somehow the food tasted stale.

  • The most delicious food I have tasted in many many years. We had the mixed tasting plate to start and we collectively groaned with delight over the lamb and grinned at each other as we devoured the samosas. For mains we had the delectable goat curry that was silky smooth in texture and tender with the aromas that were amazing. we also had the Rogan josh whose spice kicked in at the last moment and gave just the right amount of heat making us want to jump right in for more. the breads were divine as well as the riata and saffron rice. What a cook!

  • Can not fault the food - I went here twice in one week. The first time I went with work and we had an assortment of dishes that were all delicious - every one of the 50+ employees that went was wrapped with the food. The second time I went with friends and we ordered Butter Chicken for all, Garlic Naan, Poppadoms and Steamed Rice. Again yummo - chicken was tender and flavours were warm and intoxicating without being over powering. Serves look small but are actually big enough to share.

Last minute we were asked to come an hour earlier, we were moved to a table for 4 when there was 6 of us & were asked to leave as soon as we had finished our meals as they needed the table - even though we had just ordered drinks.

  • A good selection of typical Indian dishes and a fantastic choice of Vegetarian options!

The plain naan, garlic nann and paratha we ordered were excellent and a good size.

The Dhal Makhani and Malai Kofta both vegetarian were really yummy and satisfied a picky vegetarian.

The Rogan Josh was nice, but not the best I've ever had. The fresh ginger on top was a nice touch but it lacked any 'oomph'. The chilli in it was the right amount.

  • Attentive with no mistakes. Mind you, it was only 6.30 on a Wednesday night. The only gripe would be not offering us more drinks when they took away the old bottles. More a point for the restaurant as they lost money, could be annoying for someone to chase down the waiter again.

  • Firstly let me say that we ordered a number of side breads - these were unique, fresh and delicious. It was clear that they had been made from scratch in tandoori ovens - very authentic and flavoursome with amazing fillings or toppings. We also ordered the traditional chai tea which was fantastic, the best I have had anywhere.

My main course of Tandoori Tiger Prawns was disappointing. The serving was an okay size but the prawns tasted strange and were either not fresh or (more probably) had been cooked to oblivion so that they were tough and overly chewy. I'm a big fan of tandoori chicken so perhaps I expected similar flavouring, and was disappointed. I have never had to leave prawns on my plate before but did in this case.

  • The only area which I felt was really lagging behind was the services. I believe there was no system in place. I, on many occasions had to go to the bar to see where my drink was and way it was taking so long to make. The bar person was also the cashier person which exampled the long wait for drinks.

We arrived at the Cinnamon club on a Friday night...

    V
  • We arrived at the Cinnamon club on a Friday night and found the place surprisingly empty. Having heard great reviews of the place we went there expecting the same great standard of food and service that we had heard about but for the latter we were to be sadly disappointed.

For starters although the decor was of a decent standard we found the seats to be sandy and also the tablecloth was not quite clean.

For entree we ordered the samosas which arrived slightly overcooked but we still eagerly awaited the arrival of the main dishes for which we ordered Malai kofta, Butter chicken, Garlic Naan and Kashmiri Naan. These dishes were of a reasonable standard and although the Malai kofta only arrived with one cheese and vegetable compact ball and the garlic naan was slightly cold we left feeling at that stage reasonably satisfied.

However the thing that let this restaurant down the most was the poor quality of service that left us feeling extremely dissatisfied. Throughout the meal we felt that the service staff ignored us and instead dealt with the larger tables of which there weren't very many. This was not really acceptable as the restaurant itself wasn't very busy. We weren't sure whether this was due to us being a smaller table or due to other reasons such as race. However the final straw came when it came to paying and what we assumed to be the manager of the store ignored us totally and serviced the other customers instead. This left us waiting at the counter for an inordinate amount of time and he would have kept us waiting longer had we not politely informed that we had somewhere to be.

Overall. Although the food was of a decent standard the service left us with a bad feeling. Unfortunately we felt that the service was bad enough that it left us not wanting to give it another go. This was quite unfortunate as we were expecting quite a lot from this restaurant.

    V
  • The decor and ambiance I found to be very nice on a Saturday night. The service was good - sometimes a little disorganised as we were asked the same question by numerous different waiters who seemed to be strolling around looking for something to do.

My friend and I ordered 2 breads to share and were amazed at how delicious and flavoursome they were. They are cooked in the tandoori oven and one was stuffed with a sweet sticky mixture. They were a nice addition to the meal and are worthwhile trying.

We then ordered two main dishes to share. The first was a vegetarian dish which was very nice. The second was the tandoori prawns which we found very disappointing. They were either not fresh or had been overcooked to the point where they were like rubber, or both. The tandoori sauce/marinade wasn't nice on them either. We actually left a quarter of the plate because we couldn't eat them.

After dinner we had the traditional chai tea which was milky and delicious, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We will return to sample more of their menu but would definitely avoid the tandoori prawns which are amongst the worst seafood I have ever had.

  • Being a fussy eater, Cinnamon Club deserves 2 thumbs up.

Upon Arrival, me and my date was greeted straight up and shown to our seats. It was pouring mad with Rain outside and the waitresses sure know how to make our night an enjoyable one!

All of them know the food (well..at least the one who served us does).

We ordered the Tandoori tasting plate, but changed the naan that comes with it into the traditional Roti.
Being a Carbo junkie at heart, The Roti is one of the best I have tasted, not greasy and chewy enough.
The Tasting plate comes with Tandoori Chicken, which tasted insanely good with the marinate immersed into the meat.
Tandoori Prawns, which is the nicest prawns ever...I can taste the exotic spices infused in every bite.

I then ordered the entree sized Salmon Steaks, which is marinated in yoghurt and some spices! It is delightful! generous serving of chunky Salmon, not too greasy and yet not dryWell done!

My date ordered their Paratha Bread which turned out very unique and authentic. He ordered the Fish Curry, which is great too.

Overall, great service, great food...great place.

but since they take so much care in their food... it comes out quite a while...which... I dont mind, since it's so good!

  • I managed to get out with a few girlfriends and have a bite at the Cinnamon Club.

We were greeted at the door and quickly shown to our seats. Menus offered and drinks orders taken. Service was relatively quick and efficient.

The place was busy, but not jammed packed which made it easy to talk.

I didnt order, leaving it up to my friends to decide what we would be eating (sharing).

I was very happy with the food that came through. I wish that I had ordered as I would remember exactly what we were eating.

All in all, enjoyable night, enjoyable food.

    V
  • Went on another one of our "Mums" nights on Friday to the Cinnamon Club at Leederville, looking to add to our collection another good Indian restaurant. The decor is modern and funky with a mixture of bar stools, booths and tables for seating.

We decided against the set menu as it did not look too inspiring so we shared a vegetarian platter and a mixed platter for entrees which were both very tasty and a good size for the price($20- 22).

For mains we had the lamb vindaloo, fish curry, spinach curry and prawn masala to share with a big plate of garlic naan and saffron rice. The vindaloo was not as hot as you would expect which was good for me but not so good for those who need their curry super hot. The food overall was good, but we have had better.

Service wise we had to ask for water a few times which is a real let down in an Indian restaurant and we waited nearly an hour for entrees and the same for the mains .I noticed that it was the same for the other tables too.

Overall, atmosphere is good for groups but the food was just OK. There is better Indian around.

    V
  • We went to Cinnamon club on a Wednesday evening, which is our traditional weekly night out. The Cinnamon club is also a regular for us. Very reliable and great food, as you will see, though we tend to stick to vegetarian dishes here.

Ambience: this is one of the Australian-modern Indian restaurants that are springing up everywhere. Very chic, dark colours. We didn't reserve, and had a high table.

Service: is ok. Food took a little while, but we were a big group of 8.

Wine: this place allows BYO from memory. Might be a good idea, since the wines seem to have a bit of a mark-up. There's an average selection, some of the usual Evans-and-Tate stuff. Nothing fancy.

Food: we ordered the butter chicken, rogan josh (lamb) and all the vegetarian dishes: the dahl, the malai koofta, the green beans and potato, the palak paneer, the eggplant, mixed vege with paneer. We also ordered garlic naans and rice. Look. All of it is quite excellent. The sauces are very rich and creamy, don't come if you are on a diet. For me the highlights were the butter chicken, the Dahl, and the malai koofta. We were a party of eight and we couldn't eat it all, thought to be fair, I wasn't at my best, recovering from a flu. Many in the group ordered mango laasi's, which are a favourite.

Price: we came away with $23 per person. It's really very cheap for the quality that you get. If you are in a smaller group, or if you order meat, probably it will be more expensive.

Overall impression: this is a very good modern Australian Indian restaurant, put it on your regular list.

    V
  • 'Critics with Appetite' visited the Cinnamon Club on a Thursday night. The overall initial reaction to the restaurant was very positive. Its a large restaurant with many tables, but as we arrived the place was pretty empty. We commented amongst ourselves that the music was rather loud, and it was instantly turned down. The variety on the menu is fantastic, with many signature Indian dishes. As we were a large table we were able to order many dishes including Butter Chicken, Vindaloo, Fish Curry, Goat Curry, Chicken Biryani and others along with a few different bottles of wine.

The meat dishes came out relatively quick and there was just enough for everyone to have a try of each (9 people at the table). The condiments were required to tame some spices (Vindaloo) and complimented the dishes perfectly.

We were disappointed with the dcor and the quality of the toilets, but were impressed with the service, staff and quality of the food. All in all it was a pleasant experience and a jolly time was had by all. Would recommend this restaurant for dining with family or friends, not a very romantic atmosphere.

  • Visited on a quiet Monday night to discover some of the best Indian Food in Perth. We started with the mixed tasting plate for two which was a meal in itself and absolutely fantastic. Our favourite was the Fish Tikka and the dipping sauces. We then followed this up with the Butter Chicken (a taste sensation), Spicy Fish Curry, and Dahl. Everything was amazing and we will definitely be going back again and again.

    V
  • My wife and I went to the Cinnamon Club in Leederville on Friday night, instantly greeted and seated at a table and offered refreshments.

The dcor of the restaurant is very funky and modern (especially for an Indian restaurant), the actual space is quite large but the service from entry to leaving was top notch. If anything my only complaint would be that some of the tables are a bit close together, but thats a minor detail.

We had for entre the mixed tasting plate - $22 (samosa, paneer pakora, adrakhi lamb cutlets, aloo paratha, cucumber raita and mind and yogurt sauce), which was yum.

For mains we had the goat curry - $20 (hot an spicy marinated lean goat serviced on the bone, cooked in pickling and ground spices), the paneer masala - $12 (cubes of homemade paneer cheese tossed in spices and herb infused oil) with sides of cucumber raita, roti bread and saffrom basmati pulao along, all of which was scrumptious.

I would rank the Cinnamon Club as one of the top ten Indian restaurants in Perth, as it has an interesting menu (and comprehensive wine list) along with good service and tasty food all in a venue thats a pleasure to be in.
