WOW, WOW, WOW !!!! This is by far the best meal I've had in any restaurant - why is their chef not a household name ???!! I had the scallops for entree; 6 scallops cooked to perfection. Mains for my partner was the rack of lamb - which was so good he scraped every possible morsel off the bones - and I had the duck, soooo tasty and moist. Desserts both resembled tasting plates, with three different types on each plate. Fairly small servings, but great presentation and each a taste sensation!

Really attentive service. Staff made us feel very welcome, regularly checked if we needed anything, and kept our water and wine glasses filled.

Ambience:

We arrived for dinner fairly early and were seated in the back section of the restaurant, which was quiet. Probably better than being in the front which was full of people and quite noisy by the end of the evening.

Overall:
I was absolutely blown away by this place, and it will definitely become one of my favoured restaurants. Aesthetically, nothing fantastic, but food - oh my gosh !!!! Oh, and its BYO which is always a good thing :)

We went to Clarke's for the first time on a Saturday night and took my parents who were visiting from Canada. I had heard many good things about that restaurant but we still hadn't gone there.
What a wonderful discovery we made! Our whole experience was completely sublime. The food was spectacular; much attention to details and presentation. We all had different entrees and mains and all of them were just succulents. Although they had a full house; the service was outstanding. It's not cheap by any means but it's worth it.
Since then, we have been back 3 times!! That is how much we like it! The only minus about Clarke's is that if you want to go on a Saturday night you have to book 1.5 to 2 weeks in advance!

Clarke’s came recommended highly and deservedly so! From the phone booking where it was suggested we arrive a bit earlier than our booking time because a large group was booked for the same time - to the greeting when we arrived - like old friends.

We were seated right next to the kitchen door/bar area which was somewhat disappointing but we had booked at the last moment.

I loved the fact that our glasses were constantly kept filled with water and that the staff seemed to know when to appear. This kind of service is fabulous and can make a big difference to the dining experience. The food was impressive also - the seafood tasting plate was noteworthy, with the oyster with sorbet being a winner in my book. Our mains included the chicken, duck, lamb and venison dishes - all fantastic - with the duck and chicken being voted as equal winners. Clarke’s is BYO which we appreciate and they offer to decant your fine reds for a $10 charge. This place is a must if you enjoy fine food and magnificent service. We will be back for sure.

Overall:
It was my very great pleasure to attend Clarke's last night for a family celebration.

I don't even know where to start - everything was so perfect. From the knowledgeable, friendly staff, the lovely ambience, the timeliness of the courses, it was all excellent.

But extra-super-special mention must be made of the food!

I started with the chorizo and scallops, delicious. Everyone’s entrees were like works of art, carefully arranged and presented on a variety of different style platters. And the servings were just the right size to thrill us in anticipation of the next course. (We were literally excited, the food is that good.)

My main was the poulet, the tiny chicken. It came with chestnuts and mash and peas and all kinds of goodies. There was a sauce on that was kind of like a split-level gravy. In this sauce there were stocks and hints of fruit that engaged with every single morsel on the palate with a scrumptious synergy. It was simply a triumph.

Now, after being treated to such delicious savoury courses, to leave without trying the desserts would be a crime!

So we lingered and I ordered the lavender crème brulee. Again, the desserts arrived on beautiful platters with creative squiggles of toffee and splashes of sauce. In my dish, the delicate flavour of lavender mixed in subtly with the decedent custard, plus I got a little scoop of green ice cream (marzipan flavour maybe?) and some tart little berries. Again, magnificent.

Needless to say, the coffees that followed were great as well.

All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. My family and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and our celebration was memorable for all the right reasons.

If you have a significant date coming up and you want it to go perfectly, make your booking for Clarke’s well in advance (of course) and expect to have one of the best meals you’ll eat this year.

A party of 14 of us descended upon this establishment. Fortunately, I had booked well in advance, as it's not a big place, and they wisely located us in a large enclosed balcony area (the restaurant is on a steeply sloping block) away from the main restaurant area.

We were tempted to this venue after looking up a few restaurant sites, and this in particular:
http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,19713459-5005384,00.html

The service was absolutely spot-on, from the initial booking to sorting the bill at the end. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff were very friendly while also exuding competence. They were also flexible - we were advised service could be slow (which is exactly what we wanted) due to the size of the group, and they were happy to let me play sommelier for the evening (we brought some larger-format older bottles and 10 year old corks can be hazardous) and even had a side table available for the wine surplus to rest on.

The food was also delightful. Entrees are between $10-20, with mains around $30 (and salads or vegetables on top of that), and the quality and presentation is superb. The mushroom and asparagus tart was imaginative and presented with little streaks of beurre blanc on the plate, while my duck on royal blue potato mash with berry confit was sensational. There are also a range of fish / seafood options, as well as a rack of lamb, and other options.

Desserts were also well thought out. My Jamaican choc and orange tart was just the right size, with an accompanying sauce presented in a large spoon on the plate, and again the presentation of the dish was superb. The other desserts brought to the table seemed to be equally well presented, and even the coffees elicited positive comments (from a cafe-owner, in one case).

My friends also gave many positive comments about the food, the venue and the service, so it's not just my opinion! It was a top night, where nothing could be faulted. Marvelous!
