Do you long for mums roast dinner? Do you want to meet the look-alike, sound-alike, Mrs Doughtfire? If so then this is the place to go but make sure you have a big appetite. We have been to this "little and quaint" restaurant many times now. It is open for breakfast and lunches most days and open Saturday night for dinner. The setting is beautiful especially at this time of the year as it is on the banks of the river and just behind Woodbridge House. Sarah, "Mrs Doughtfire" and her husband Alex have been working so hard to make this place something special and I think they have achieved it. It is good wholesome tucker whether it be bangers and mash or a top piece of steak. Lots of it and very reasonably priced. My latest visit was with a girlfriend for lunch. I had the fish of the day which was cooked just as I wanted. A delious grilled piece of Bara with heaps of salad and lots of crispy chips. My girlfriend couln't go past the roast pork with crackling and yorkshire puddings, lots of roast veggies and thick gravy. I've had the roast myself on many occasions and the tastebuds were still watering. The sweets are in a refrigerated cabinet and generally the cheesecake, mudcake style of dessert. This particular time I didn't have sweets but settled for a very leisurely cappuccino and a good chat with a beautiful view over the river. This is a byo restaurant with no corkage but I suggest you book.
