Excellent, we had the antipasto plate and capaccio for entree, antipasto was excellent value and gave you a wide range of dishes to choose from, the capaccio melted in the mouth. Mains we had the stuffed rabbit and beef again both dishes wonderfully cooked and presented. Dessert I had the flour less chocolate cake with pistachio nuts with chocolate sauce which again was excellent but by this time I couldn't eat it all.

Service:

Loved the service, I have read a review about the wine not being poured, well the wine wasn't poured for you all the time but this actually allowed us to monitor the amount we drank. Service of food and the warm and friendly greeting we received on arrival and throughout the meal, exceptional.

Loved the warm cosy feel, my sort of restaurant.

Overall:
Defiantly worth a visit. Food, service and ambience wonderful. They made you feel welcome and then served excellent food too.

The food was outstanding, we shared an antipasto plate and pasta for an entree. The Antipasto was delicious - featuring about 6 items incl a divine scallop, small salad of fennel, baked mussel with a breadcrumb topping, they were all superb. The pasta was a prawn and dhufish ravioli with a lemon caper sauce, again beautiful and melt in your mouth.

For mains we had a small lamb roast with mash and beans and a veal chop filled with pate and with a delicious crusty topping. Both fantastic and went really well with the red wine we bought. We finished off with two desserts, a creme brulle and flour less chocolate with caramel sauce. Yum! I thought the servings were spot on in size and we left feeling full but not over the top.

Service:

The service is a little slower than we have usually experienced but that is part of the charm. 2 hours had passed before I even knew it & points to how much we were enjoying the experience. Having the menu read to you and explained was delightful & obviously a lot of thought goes into its creation.

Ambience:

The ambience was great - the restaurant is a sweet old house and dimly lit so that you are aware of the other diners around you but the focus is mostly on your dining companion. We were after a romantic dinner and really enjoyed the intimate surroundings.

Overall:
I had heard about Da Bruno's from friends and colleagues for some time and was looking forward to an opportunity to try it out. It totally lived up to expectations and my partner and I enjoyed a relaxed and intimate dinner. It is a little more pricey than some similar quality restaurants but being BYO we saved at least $80 on wine and had the opportunity to try some bottles we'd been hanging out to drink from the cellar. Can't wait to go back.

I went to Brunos for dinner with friends on Friday night. The prior reviews left me with high expectations. The 28-30$ entrees and 40-48$ mains with even higher expectations.

My entree was ravioli with tiger prawns and seafood stuffing in a saffron sauce. Interesting flavours, overall good. The main was the fish of the day, Dhufish with mash and green beans in a seafood stock sauce. Overall the food was good, but not exceptional. Certainly less impressive than I had come to expect given the above average price tag. Serving size was very small portion. Having had an entree and main I was still left hungry. I asked the waiter to please let the chef know. Alas they didnt deem it important to reply to my feedback.

Service:

The waiter did not pour our drinks, something which I had come to assume as standard in other restaurants. When paying, the chef finally acknowledged that someone in our party had complained about the serving size, offering no reconciliation apart from 'Sorry'. Not impressed after spending 80$.

Ambience:

Plain.

Overall:
Fails to impress and leaves the reviewer hungry.

Since we have moved to Perth we have struggled to find a fine dining restaurant that matches the quality that we are used to in the eastern states - but the wait is now over. Da Bruno's is the place to go.

It might be that the restaurant is walking distance, so the BYO tag works very well with us, but the quality of the food here we have found to be second to none. It is a small, intimate restaurant. The staff are very knowledgeable and know the menu from back to front, in Italian and English. There were 5 entrées to choose from and I had the Antipasto plate at $25 which was divine. The others had the ravioli with lobster and the 3 cheese gnocchi which all tasted fabulous and were in the $27 - $28 price range.

As I am not a big meat eater I had the pumpkin and ricotta tortellini as a main and it was truly melt in your mouth. The others diners had the duck, the spatchcock and the veal - none were disappointed. Mains varied from $30 - $40.

All desserts were $15. The tiramisu was lovely.

Da Bruno's is pricey-even for Perth standards. But what you get is the experience of dining somewhere unique and memorable. We'll definitely go again.

Overall:
This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The food is very rich, but delicious. The serving portions are not huge, but then with such rich food they don't need to be.

The menu has a full range from vegetarian meals to duck, venision, chicken, beef, veal, etc, and is always changing. Don't expect the second time you dine to have the same menu as the first!

It is run by a husband & wife team who not only work in the kitchen but also work the floor. The service is friendly and helpful and they really know their stuff.

Bookings are highly recommended as it's a small, cosy place and it is usually full of regulars.

The only problem I had was that the menu board is written in Italian and when the waiters tell you the menu, they first speak in Italian and then translate. You find yourself not remembering a lot of the menu because it is quite extensive. The first time I felt a little stupid asking the waiter to repeat the dish, but I'm sure they get that all the time!

Finally I have to say that it is one of the only restaurants I visit where I order an entree, a main AND dessert - and it's only because I HAVE to try as much as I can!

Sorry! I had to post a follow-up review to confirm that a repeat experience at this restaurant matched the high praise I expressed last time.

A different night of the week, different waiting staff, different table, slightly different menu,

....all this did was reinforce my opinion that this is the best BYO Italian in Perth. Having been there before, we were able to match the wines better with the food, and they were even able to alter the dishes to suit allergies.

Simply superb!

At last! The search for a top Italian BYO is over!

Da Bruno's is a converted house on Beaufort Street - tucked away just before the Civic Hotel as you head out of town. Neither our guests nor our taxi driver could find it first go, so keep your eyes out. The premises are tastefully and thoughtfully furnished and lit, with heavy curtains, pictures and statues on pedestals providing visual appeal.

There is also a front courtyard area for al fresco dining in warmer weather.

I didn't realise (as I didn't make the booking - which you may need to do about 3 weeks in advance, as this is a heavily-patronised place), but this is effectively 'fine dining' without the liquor licence (and is all the better for that). The cutlery, crockery and napery are all quality, and so is the majority of the glassware.

The service is professional yet warm and friendly. The menu at first seems quite limited (4 or 5 entrees, 6 or 7 mains) and is chalked up on large blackboards fixed to the walls. However, when the waiting staff take you through the menu, you realise that considerable thought and design has been put into each of the menu items, and I'd be surprised if you can't find something you like (except perhaps vegetarian options for mains).

The 'primi' (entrees) were mostly pasta based, and included superb ricotta and porcini mushroom pillows with a walnut pesto sauce, and a two-cheese gnocchi, along with 2-3 other options.

The 'secondi' (mains) included rabbit, dhufish, lamb, beef, spatchcock (no chicken), and prawns, all prepared with carefully matched crusts, reductions, etc.

Desserts are also well thought out, with 6 or so mouthwatering options. I didn't think I would get to dessert, but I'm glad I made the effort.

Overall, the dishes appear to be a carefully crafted blend of flavours and textures, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find such attention to detail in a BYO in Inglewood!

Price aren't cheap ($20-25 entrees, mains $30-40) but you really get what you pay for. Highly recommended, especially for a more intimate dinner for 2 or 4 people, rather than a crowd (although they do cater for larger groups, too). Booking in advance is also highly recommended.
