Overall:
I'll mention the food we had and rave about the service too, but I want to set things straight first. This was by far the best dining out experience we have ever had for the money we paid.
I chose Divido because I still had an EatingWA voucher to use there. We had booked a table for four for 7.30, but we actually arrived about 7pm and it certainly wasn't a problem. The waitress showed us where we should have been seated, but decided to seat us at an identical table across the room because the sun could sometimes hit the other table and it may be uncomfortable. The table we were seated at was huge, which was absolutely fantastic. Everyone had plenty of room and when antipasti was served into the middle of the table, none of it was encroaching on personal space.
Antipasti: We shared Beef Carpaccio, Eggplant and Mint Frittele, Calamari, Quail and Wood Roasted Sardines. All of these dishes were outstanding. The flavours melded together well and had obviously been chosen carefully. No one could decide on a favourite, but we all seemed to have a fair bit to say about the Beef Carpaccio. The antipasti was accompanied by beer for my father and my husband and a bottle of 2005 Voyager Estate Sauvignon Blanc for my mother and I.
Mains: My husband and mother shared a Zucchini and Pork Sausage Pizza which they both thought was delicious. In particular, the base was light and crispy. My father had the Beef Sirloin, which came with warm potato, pancetta, peppers, zucchini and a herb bread sauce. This tasted sensational. It was cooked to perfection and the meat was very tender. I liked the herb bread sauce. I had the Wood Roasted Pork Belly rubbed with fennel seed and garlic, with grilled peaches, water cress and pistachio aioli. I have never had pork like it before. The crispy, crackly skin was so flavoursome and not over-salted and the meat was very tender. The flavours were a combination I'd never thought of and they worked really well. The pistachio aioli was incredible. We shared a serve of Wood Roasted Asparagus, which came with some delicious parmesan (or it could have been provolone) on top. My father ordered a bottle of red, a sangiovese blend I think, which was very nice. It had quite a rich nose, but went down well.
Dessert: We managed to make a bit of room for dessert, which I don't think anyone regretted. My husband had the Maple and Marscapone Cheese Cake. I can't think for any word to describe it other than stunning. The maple syrup is something I've never seen with cheese cake, but it certainly worked. It was delicious. My Mum and I shared the Caramelised Lemon Tart with double cream. Instead of bringing just two sets of cutlery, the waitress brought the tart out already divided up, on two plates and each with a little portion of double cream. It had a crispy Creme Brulee style top and the lemon filling was rich and perfectly compounded by the double cream. My father isn't a big sweets person, so he made do with a long black. My husband had a cognac and Mum and I each had a coffee.
I'll try and compact the rest of what I have to say for anyone who is still reading this.
The service was outstanding. Our water glasses were never empty. At the beginning of the evening when the waitress asked if we were ready to order anything, my father said that we would like to sit and chat for awhile first. She said that was absolutely fine and that she was there when we were ready to order. Once we did order, the food arrived fairly promptly and there was a good amount of time in between each course. We didn't feel rushed at all and had a very relaxing evening.
The food is simply amazing. Very fresh ingredients are used and the serves are just the right size for you to be able to sample something for entree, main and dessert without feeling like you'll burst afterward.
Ambience: The table size was the best thing. It is a small restaurant which is also a plus and they don't squeeze customers and tables in. The lighting is not too dark and not too bright and the music not too intrusive. Even during the loudest, busiest time we were there, I could still here the conversation clearly at our table.
All up the meal came to $216, which includes the use of my EatingWA voucher. It may sound like a lot for four people, but it was the best value for money I've ever had in a restaurant with food of that quality.
