One of our favourites. We go there on average twice a month.

We have dined in Sams restaurants for many years, and he has always been consistent.

The menu is extensive with a good variety to suit all tastes, we have never had a complaint.

This place is quality at an affordable price, table cloths, napkins, nice wine glasses.

It is fully licensed with BYO wine, charge $2 a head which is a bit much, $2 a bottle is fine, as some people do not drink.

It will be a sad day when Sam retires, I hope not for a long time yet.

My family and I "STUMBLED" upon The Dons.

We visited Kalamunda on one of our regular trips to the free-range egg farm and also our usual week-end food-hunting. As weekenders were all busy eating, the restaurants were full everywhere, we headed for the car when we saw The Dons sign.

The restaurant was quite packed, but it didn't take long before we get our food. We ordered mussel with cream sauce which was absolutely out of this world, the main course was expertly done, the sauce on the spaghetti was really tasty but not overpowering, serving size was very generous but you got to notice the aftertaste, it was so good.

Just last week we headed for The Dons once again, this time the Chef/owner told us that he had some crab and asked if we would like to order that. It turned out to be a real surprise, I am not sure if the dish was in the menu but it was a mixture of crab, mussels in delicious tomato base sauce, topped with fried calamari and the slice of bread at the bottom of the dish was so tasty. Perhaps the description is not as good as if you were to taste the dish yourself.

Service was excellent, as the size of the restaurant is not that big, they were easy to find and very quick in getting your request accommodated.

ok take away the fact that my brother went to school with Sams son , this is a great place to eat.

Sam and his wife are great people and put on a great spread.

they have this huge T bone steak there which has to be seen to be believed and the rest of there menu is very nice too.

Sam is a typical Italian, interested in chatting to his customers and wanting to know more about them, very nice man.

A very accommodating owner

It can be disconcerting dining her at times, often empty in Wintertime but overall I'd say it is still worth considering. The owners can be a little intrusive but then they can also be quite entertaining. The standout for me is the huge rib steak, the Consigliere, that is then covered with layers of spinach, tomato, garlic, cheese and other tastes, then crumbed and baked. It is like something from a Flintstones film (dinosaur steak, Wilma?) and nearly impossible to finish. BYO and licensed.
