Welcome to Duckstein

Duckstein

The Duckstein offers traditional Bavarian meals that are the perfect compliment to the range of German-style beers available. Share a large pan of traditional pan-fried potatoes with smoked pork cutlets and bratwurst rings or select from the range of hearty German soups, potato salads, german sausages, sauerkraut, rye breads, mushrooms, hams, veal schnitzel.

For dessert, or simply to enjoy with coffee are a range of cakes and pastries such as Sacre Torte, Apple Strudel with Vanilla Bean Sauce and Salzburg Lemon Cheesecake. Just try to resist to the scrumptious black forest cake

This restaurant/bar offers typical German food that you get in Germany. The bratwurst and deserts were excellent.

After living in Germany for 2 years I sometimes hanker for some good German food and this is the place.

Stopped here for lunch. It was a lovely day and many people were enjoying the ambience/beers in the beer garden at the Duckstein!

I ordered the chicken salad. Basically a large serving of lettuce, capsicum, cherry tomatoes, cucumber with four fairly small grilled pieces of chicken and some bacon bits scattered throughout. All drenched in a very creamy sauce (which was lovely, but wont look so lovely on the waistline!). I was looking for something light to eat so this was perfect.

My partner chose the grilled bratwurst with pan fried potatoes and sauerkraut which he enjoyed immensely.

The staff were very friendly and efficient (you order at the counter) the beer was good. I will definitely return here for a meal when im really hungry and can explore the menu further :-)

An update to my previous review of the Duckstein.

Since Elmar's has opened down the road and gained popularity, the Duckstein have had to restore their hearty meal sizes. There was a time when the portions reduced substantially, but now they are back to the good old days.

The beer is as good as ever. Service is always adequate and friendly. And the atmosphere is always one of people enjoying their food and a drink.

I went with my family for a meal before Christmas and we all enjoyed what we had. "The usual". The pan for five. The bratwurst has changed since we were there last, but it was still rather tasty. The potatoes pretty much the usual - although a little greasy and needed a bit more seasoning. The two downsides for me this time. The red cabbage was like no red cabbage I had ever had; sweet, tangy... like jam really. I didn't really enjoy it too much, although it was palatable. The thing that did me the most though, the kassler. 4 of our 5 cutlets were ridiculously salty. The other agreed about the saltiness, but you give you my experience in a nutshell - it was so salty that I was pretty ill later in the evening.

Mind you, having said that. I will be returning. I've always enjoyed the Duckstein on the whole, and I will continue to do so. Although, with Elmar's down the road, we'll be alternating visits ;)

Duckstein is one of the few places in Perth to get the total German experience - food, beer, and atmosphere. The food is generally of a good standard and service is always good.

My only complaint is that since we have been going since day one, the change of ownership a while ago was a transitional phase. New owners, (slightly) new ideas. But all-in-all, the Duckstein is still a good place for some hearty fare.

Duckstein is a great location for a hearty Sunday lunch. Make sure that it is a nice day as Duckstein has such a great outdoor dining area. The animatronic german folk musicians are good for a laugh too.

Food is very traditional German fare with bratwurst and fried potatoes and the like.
