My partner and I both ordered the breakfast bruschetta. These were different to any other bruschetta Ive tried, like flat pizza bread (the kind from the supermarket) that was too sweet and crumbly (like cake almost) The mushrooms, bacon bits and feta were sprinkled liberally over this, with a bit of chopped parsley. Not bad but not really good either. The worst bit was that we'd ordered poached eggs to come with each meal right? But they forgot these and then left to go get them, leaving our meals to get cold! I sent the meals back and asked to keep them warm for us while they were cooking the eggs. The meals came back still cold, with poached eggs on one dish, but not on the other.
I guess they're nice enough, but not memorable in any way. A bit sullen.
The best thing about this place is its a gorgeous little cafe / bookshop with plenty of light, a nice al fresco area and a selection of neat little booths and tables. Very sweet.
Overall:
My partner and I are always on the lookout for something new and we decided to come here because the ad in the paper made the pretty big claim that it was rated in the top 5 cafes in Perth. It didnt even come close! I had to try it, but I doubt seriously that I will be back, when there are so many other great places to go. I'd come here for the books more so, than for the food.
Overall:
We dined here for dinner last week.
What a great little surprise. They open at nights as a gourmet burger bar.
I ordered the gourmet chicken burger and my husband got the derby burger which is said to be their best seller. Both the burgers came in freshly toasted bagels and steak fries.
It was a really cheap night. Our bill came to $51 with 2 burger meals, dessert, coffee and BYO.
I looked at the breakfast menu and it looks just as good.
Ill be back !!
