Food:

The food we ordered were beautifully presented and good serving portions for this day and age of better restaurants. We enjoyed the food.

Service:

My partner and I had found the service to be very poor from most of the wait staff. There were no smiles or attentiveness to our table which spoiled our night unfortunately. Quite disappointing for Subi standards.

Ambience:

Restaurant was wonderfully decorated with nice lighting and furniture suited the Subi lifestyle as you'd expect. The live band set the mood for the dimmed light restaurant, good crowd to boot.

Overall:
If the food was disappointing, I'd suggest to black list this restaurant all together, but if diners aren't in for the service then it's a place to go.

Food:

The garlic bread came with cheese strips melted over the top which we didn't like. I was disapointed that my choice of meal was unavailable as it turned out I had been given an old specials menu. Instead I had the Char Grilled Beef Fillet served with mushroom cream sauce served on fetta, thyme and potato roesti. The Fillet was good quality meat and cooked to my liking. Overall the meal was very nice but not something we would return especially for (when there are so many fabulous restaurants to try in Perth!).

Service:

When we walked in there was no one to seat us, but after that our orders were taken promptly and our waitress was friendly.

Ambience:

Interesting decor and the ambiance was nice on a Thursday night as the restaurant was quite busy.

A friend and I came here for lunch on a Sunday as we have been meaning to try it out for ages. It didn't disappoint however it was very quiet as the restaurant was nearly empty. I wonder how they can afford to pay the staff with Sunday wages with only a couple of diners in attendance?

Our waiter was very attentive. (perhaps as we were only one of two tables occupied), and the food was reasonably priced for lunch and enjoyable. I would prefer a few more patrons in attendance for mood and ambience but perhaps it is more an evening place to go.

I hope it does stick around.

I have walked a couple of times past this place and thought that we should try it out as the decor is speaks out and is just fantastic.

We were there on a Saturday night. There were a couple of birthdays being celebrated so the noise level was high.

As soon as we had ordered our drinks we were asked another two times by different waiters if we would like any drinks, which kind of took us by surprise ...

My wife and I both ordered the chicken Caesar salad which we both enjoyed, few people had ordered the lamb which looked impressive, someone ordered the fillo parcel which was quite close to being burnt and hidden under a pile of greens, and the other chose the risotto which he exclaimed was quite filling.

Overall i guess it was a good experience as I liked the portion sizes and the quality of the food.

Ess Bar is a great place for a lunch time catch up, can thoroughly recommend the tasting plate, service is fantastic but would recommend booking on Fridays. Prices are reasonable and a good selection of wines.
