Overall:
I have probably had coffee or supper at Exomod about twenty times now, as it's one of the only places near me that is open very late on Friday and Saturday nights (I think it might even be 24h on a Saturday night).
When this place first opened, it was my secret find... but now it has become quite popular! The best thing about it is the atmosphere. It's nice and colourful inside with some red couches and a constant rotation of different artwork on the walls that is for sale. I love looking at different paintings every time I visit.
The owner is very nice and friendly, but unfortunately I think the standard and atmosphere has dropped a lot since she stopped working there often (or at all). While the staff used to be extra friendly, they're now just average - that is, helpful enough but slightly disinterested.
I used to be able to count on the PERFECT hot chocolate - it comes in a big mug and always was the perfect strength, the perfect temperature and had a thick layer of creamy delicious froth. Now that the manager is not the one making my hot chocs, they are variable - I've had them without much froth at all, or luke warm (my pet hot chocolate peeve!) If you like white chocolate, the rich white hot chocolate is also worth a try.
Water is self serve and you can choose water with fresh orange, water with fresh lime in it etc. I haven't sampled many of their cakes, they never look very appetising. Their sticky date pudding was more like a date muffin with a disappointing sauce, and it certainly wasn't fresh.
Again, the best thing about Exomod is the atmosphere. It caters for an older crowd, with plenty in their thirties and forties + there for a chat, but younger clientele as well.
I still frequent Exomod, but if I'm in the mood for a well made hot chocolate, I don't take the risk and visit Dome instead (if it's open, that is!)
