We had made a booking for 7pm Sunday night which I thought would be a really busy time, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were 1 of a handful of couples and groups.

We were seated promptly in the outside dining area, which may I add had these wonderful misters which I thoroughly enjoyed (born and bred Perth girl but cannot stand the heat!). The menus were brought out and I started with a glass of sweet white wine (the name escapes me) and my partner a pint of Feral pale ale, both of which we enjoyed.

For starters we ordered the dips plate for 2, which came out with three different dips which were homemade, none of this shop bought stuff, french onion with bacon, curried eggplant and sundried tomatoes and capsicum all of which were great. Also a nice touch was that we had either pita or turkish bread to dip with and enough for many more people than the menu described.

For mains I had the lamb cutlets which were on a bed of couscous - absolutely divine, meat was cooked to perfection and more than enough to fill me up, 4 decent sized cutlets. My partner had the veal which he asked for medium-well done. This also was magnificent, the meat was tender and just melted in your mouth, and finally somewhere that knows how to cook meat properly! My partner had a beer taster rack with dinner that had a sample of all their beers on offer - a fun way to see which one you like. I settled for a lemon lime and bitters, well I was driving after all!

We just couldn't go dessert as we were so full, so I had an iced chocolate.

The service was lovely, friendly waitresses that gave you enough time between meals to have a drink and chat and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, without making us wonder what is happening in the kitchen. We did not feel rushed at all and had a lovely dining experience.

A wonderful establishment with great beverages to boot. We only live 5 minutes away and now we are wondering why it took us so long to visit! We will surely be back again soon.

Using a midweek 25% off voucher kindly emailed to us by EatingWA and RAC (as an RAC member exclusive offer), we ventured up to Baskerville today to have lunch at the Feral Brewery Restaurant.

A lovely waitress greeted us and welcomed us to grab a table wherever we felt comfortable. The inside dining area suited us perfectly as it was a rather miserable day outside. The inside dining area was very spacious, the decor simple, we first sat ourselves at a 4 seat table, but a little later shifted to a more intimate 2 person one (the bigger tables are very wide and we felt it was hard to speak over such a large expanse.

We were asked what we wanted to order for drinks as soon as we had arrived. We chose a Malbec Light Red ($24 bottle) and were very pleased with our selection. We were encouraged to help ourselves to bottled chilled water and glasses from a fridge on the back verandah (entrance to the rear outside dining area), which we thought was a great idea!

For our meal we ordered a Dip plate for 2 and a serve of Dukkah for entrees.

For our main meal we ordered a Warm Chicken Salad and a Porterhouse Steak with Red wine jus, salad and chips.

Firstly we could have just had the one entree between us (there was enough Turkish bread on our two plates to feed a family from a Third World Country).

Quite an unusual thing as usually we run out of bread (at other restaurants) and have to order more to finish dips!

We did our best with the entrees before tackling our main meals. Hubbie's Warm Chicken salad was very unusual, but very tasty just the same. Instead of masses of greens this salad consisted of small medallions of chicken fillet with lashings of spicy chick peas, there was some lighting wilted greens amongst the salad with steamed fresh asparagas spears on the top.

My Porterhouse Steak (served rare - as it was ordered) was very tender and had a glaze of Red wine Jus on the top.

A small mixed salad, drizzled in Olive Oil and very large serve of plank chips came with my steak. I had trouble finishing the salad and chips after such a big entree helping but the steak was devoured with much enthusiasm.

As attractive as the dessert selection looked we had to concede defeat there..but we did enjoy a wonderful long black coffee and a Mocha as we waited for the rain outside to subside.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and meal at the Feral Brewery. With our RAC/EatingWA voucher we also enjoyed a $25.50 discount off our bill.

We vowed to return again - perhaps on a warmer day so we could enjoy the outside dining area and vineyard vista!

I’ve been to the Feral a couple of times over the summer and enjoyed it, though both times have been a Sunday and it’s been busy.

It’s a great place to take overseas guests, my English Aunty and Uncle loved the Bush Tucker Aussie tasting plate, and dips and bread were good too.

The servings are huge, we shared two mains between three, the squid and the fish and chips, both were really good, the squid was tender and you got two huge pieces of fish.

The next time I went we had a chicken pizza which wasn’t the greatest. The toppings were nice but it had a thick base which was doughy and not crispy. Fab garlic bread though, chunks of garlic the way I like it!

They have a great range of beers, I like the Feral White, though it looks like cloudy apple juice, it tastes great and the Pilsner is good too. They also have a pretty good selection of wines too.

They have a water misting device to cool down the veranda in summer which works pretty well as it gets pretty hot out in the Swan Valley.

As has been said previously... this place is going to be bouncing in summer.

Mother’s day was the occasion for my visit... and that Sunday saw this place packed to the rafters. Luckily we had booked and arrived a little later than most people so it was quietening down towards the end.

The food was pretty good for a brewery/restaurant, and of course the beer was well... beertacular... and the fact that they have a full range of different styles means almost anyone can enjoy a pint or 4.

The concept of matching the drinks with the food is not new, but works well with their menu and I can honestly say that Feral is a bloody good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Just make sure you con someone else into driving.

Four of us went there for a late lunch on a Sunday arvo, and it was packed! The service however, was quick and the food was great. The only complaint we had was that the table was quite large and we had trouble communicating to each other due to the size, and the noise of the restaurant. Some live music started up and it definitely would be the place to go in the summer.
