Welcome to Funtastico
In the heart of Subiaco is Rokeby Road, then, the heart of Rokeby Road must be Funtastico.
Fulvio Tirli, our highly regarded Head Chef, presides over a kitchen, menu and restaurant that lives and breathes but one thing: authentic Italian cuisine of the highest standards.
If you’ve never graced the unique collection of Italian cuisine before, we suggest starting your Funtastico experience with our ‘Double Cooked Duck with a Pear and Honey Sauce’ or our truly authentic ‘Spaghetti Marinara al Cartoccio’ the likes of which you’ll only find elsewhere in Italy. Whatever you choose, be it the freshest seafood, hand made specialty pasta’s, free range chicken or tender succulent steaks, you can be sure that it will be truly outstanding.
From any part of the restaurant, you can watch Tirli and his team at work in Funtastico’s open kitchen. Here they go to any length required for their craft. For example, our signature ‘Spaghetti Marinara al Cartoccio’ is prepared and served in a traditional ‘cartuch’ parcel to retain all of its delicious flavours in a way only marinara lovers can know.
Our pizza celebrates its Italian traditions too, as it’s cooked in our wood-fired oven while you watch from your table nearby.
Every dish is prepared with only the freshest ingredients of the highest quality. Fillet steaks, fish, tender veal and everything you can imagine, taste is the ultimate test at Funtastico.

My dinner companion and I were both disappointed in our meals. More so me as I had the pizza with prawns and as pizza is one of my favourite meals I can be particular, but we both agreed it was too plain and not tasty enough. In fact I enjoy my own homemade pizzas more! My friend had the seafood "platter" which he said was ok but some of the seafood was too chewy. Neither of us finished our meals which is very unlike me!
It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was full but the wait staff were very attentive and refilled my wine glass and water glass quite a few times. They were friendly and happy.
It was very noisy so it was difficult to hear my friend's words sometimes but generally I enjoyed the fast paced, trendy feel of the place.
Overall:
I won't be returning in a hurry as like to enjoy my food with the money I spend and vaguely remember dining there a few years ago not enjoying the food either.
the food wasn't that superb...we had the funtastico pizza ..it was good but nothing special.but the wine make it works... we had a rockford shiraz 2005 (it was beautiful)..the desserts woooo.... just normal...we had tiramisu, dry and hard blueberry torte, and sticky apple and raisin cake..
the manager was great...friendly greeting, all the waitress are put they smiley face everytime they reach our table.. only the waiter who serve our wine were not flare enough to serve the reserved wine to us..his hand abit shaked..
great.. just nice for dinner and have a date or talk with frensss
Overall:

Went here for on a Wednesday night for a quick bite to eat after having a few drinks a Llama Bar, when we arrived, the place was rather full but we were able to get a table easily. My mate and I had Stella Bella wine which is fast becoming a fave with the both of us.
My friend is fresh off the boat from England and when she saw there was duck on the menu didn’t hesitate about ordering it, I love pasta but I love mushrooms and pasta together even more so there was no question about what I was having either.
Once we had ordered it didn’t take very long for our meals to arrive under 30 mins which was great as I was starving.
The duck looked good and was sitting on mashed potatoes and covered in gravy, my friend said it was lovely and the duck was cooked just right.
My mushroom pasta was a huge, I will be coming back for this, I have had mushroom pastas from many places in Perth but this was the best I have had, creamy with plenty of mushrooms.
It was a great night out. We will be going back.

Living in the area, I'm a regular at Funtastico. Meeting a friend after work for a coffee often turns into a meal. Last Thursday was no exception.
Started off with a lovely glass of white as recommended by the hostess. I can’t remember the name, which is unfortunate as it was probably the nicest white I have tried! After a glass of wine we decided we were ready to eat. I ordered the Insalata di Pollo (chicken salad, baby spinach, bacon, avocado and cherry tomatoes - $25) and my friend ordered the Spaghetti Marinara ($31). Had some Turkish bread and balsamic/oil while we were waiting.
Waitstaff were very attentive and polite, always making sure any excess plates were cleared, and always asking if we wanted another glass of wine or some water, but not overasking.
Meals came out promptly. My friend’s marinara interested me, it came out all wrapped up in some kind of greaseproof or baking paper, and then was unwrapped into the bowl. Unsure if this is the “cool” or correct way to receive a marinara, as I don’t eat seafood myself.
Could not fault the food, my salad had the perfect balance of flavours, and my friend was impressed with her marinara. The only thing I would like is for the food to be a little cheaper - but we are in Subiaco after all, the prices seem pretty standard for Subi/Claremont.
(NB: have just been informed that the method of serving marinara like that is called “cartouche”)

Excellent food, but very pretentious waiting staff!
We had a quick dinner there last night before a 7pm concert nearby in Subi. The first 3 members of our group arrived at 5.45pm (no booking was made) and the restaurant was empty, only 2 tables with patrons on them. The group of 3 were told to wait up at the front of the restaurant at the bar stools/high tables until the rest of the group had arrived. In other words, they were refused seating at a table for 5 even though the restaurant was empty!! So up yours basically!!
The service was pleasant enough, but we found the young waitress stating, "that wine is fabulous" a bit over the top, especially as she looked like she had just finished school last year!
I had the taglierini with crab, which was delicious, and 1 member of the group had pizza, which she commented was very tasty, especially the succulent prawns. I would definitely go back for the food, but can do without "up start" service! The pasta dishes ranged for $28 - $32, which is more than most restaurants, but everyone who ordered pasta on our table really enjoyed the flavours and serving sizes were more than adequate.

I haven't been here for a number of years, but my friend and I were on a break from work and hardly anything was open at 4:30 which is unusual for a weekend. We started with some awesome cocktails I had the Raspberry High Tea and my friend had a Mojito. We then ordered some bread with three dips. They were fantastic and we hardly waited a long time for it. After our bread we had a decent wait - not too long and not too short, for our mains to come. I had the duck which was SENSATIONAL. It came with a pear, sweet sauce and the most unbelievable mashed potato. I had a bocconcini and tomato salad for a side, which great but not necessary. My friend had the veal and sweet pumpkins for a side. Towards the end of her main my friend (which I should have mentioned before is Canadian) said it was the best meal she has had in Australia. I must admit that it was definitely in my top 3. For desert we had the vanilla panna cotta to share - which was divine!
The service was good and didn't hound us. We only had to put our hand up and they were right there helping us without any hesitation. We were ordering more cocktails throughout the night and I felt so sorry for the bar guys because they had so many drinks to make - but we didn't mind. Overall we were very happy with everything. Service and food were fantastic. They were also very accommodating because we told them we were pressed for time and they said they would do their very best to get our food out - and they did.

We normally go here for a glass of wine and a wood fired pizza on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, and I normally have no complaints as the food and service is usually excellent.
This time, we decided to pop in on Thursday night after a bit of late night shopping. I was a little disappointed as i usually have no reason to complain. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table which was ok, but the fact i had to wait about 50 minutes to get my entree bugged me. granted it was very busy ...but still. we had these chicken / saffron / risotto balls which are normally delish but this time (after our 50 min wait) they were just....bleh. I had the spaghetti marinara for mains and it was absolutely fantastic.. it just happened to come out straight after our entree. no gap. so I didn’t get time to rest in between meals.... starving for 50 minutes and then both courses one after the other.
I will go back, but I think I’ll stick to lunch times or mid afternoons. It seems they were a little un organised this night?

Funstatico is my favourite Italian restaurant in Perth and I’ve been there many times. It has the most delicious unusual pizzas, yummy pastas and inventive mains. I also like the fact that it has really tasty vego dishes for example the eggplant parmigiana that is extremely substantial unlike a lot of other restaurants in Perth.
The complimentary wood fired bread is also a really nice touch. The wine list is good but not overly inventive. The venue is massive and at times can feel rather cold because of the cement walls and floors. They do have some great circular booth seating which I’d recommend, but for groups of four or less.
It is always busy so sometimes they try to fit 6 people into one booth and it just doesn’t work. The staff is very friendly but not always knowledgeable or attentive to your needs. I would recommend going during the week because they only take bookings for large groups on weekends and you can wait as long as an hour for a table. However you will forget all the cons once your eating because the food is that good!!
P.S preview the deserts in the cake window and save some room!!
