Food:

Last time we went (late last year) the food was quite good, but most recently, it was terrible. The beef in the enchiladas was dry, the rice seemed like it was microwaved straight out of a packet and one of the orders was incorrect.

Service:

Again, terrible. The woman walked up and didn't make eye contact or say hello. She was very rude and uninterested and was sarcastic when I asked a question about the menu.

Ambience:

You would not go to this restaurant if you cared about ambience! Tables and chairs and some tacky Mexican decorations...not even cool, kitschy decor, just plain cheap.

Overall:
We chose this over other Mexican restaurants because it was more local...now we will drive further for better food and service. Avoid.

Food here is great, definitely common mexican, not as great as somewhere like santa fe but good none the less! they have burritos, tacos, enchiladas and the fajitas which we just love! the chilli con queso is just delicious and naughty! meals are always gigantic! usually don't order a entree if its only two of us. My partner loves the el dorado and i cant go past a side of cheesy frijoles. cant go past a frozen margarita too!!!

Service:

Usually just girls in here always there to help with a smile. I don't know how they put up with the manager but they are always on the ball and serve you straight away!

Ambience:

definitely outdated but cute and corny at the same time, comfortable enough

Overall:
love the place, go back all the time!! local favourite, can usually get a seat but i'd always book. great for big groups

The food is always great here and the serves are really large. We've never bothered with entrees or dessert because the mains are so satisfying and delicious. They have excellent vegetarian options (even for fussy ones like myself!) which is why I return again and again. The fajitas also come highly recommended from my friends, and of course, no Garcia's meal is complete without a jug of their delicious margaritas!

Service:

The service is not amazing but we've never encountered any problems. We've had the same girl serve us many times and she's fantastic. It's very laid back though - which my friends and I prefer - so don't go expecting attentive service.

Ambience:

I like to think of it as kitsch but I suppose really it's just outdated, but thankfully not in an overwhelming way. It's ideal for a casual dinner with friends or family but I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic dinner.

Overall:
We always have a fantastic time there, thoroughly enjoying the food, drink and not being hounded by overzealous staff! It's the top pick with my friends (young, female and fussy!) and sometimes we have to stop ourselves from going too often! I've recommended it to friends and family looking for somewhere 'cheap and cheerful' and they still talk to me.

Food:

Starter was so bad I couldn't eat it - it was a chicken quesidalla and it tasted a couple of days old (the chicken was hard and looked dodgy) and was microwaved (obvious by the way it came out within about 2 minutes)
Mains were better - Fajitas were quite good although chicken still tasted a bit funny, Chimichanga was ok but again, microwaved and a little bland.

Service:

Fine.

After reading mainly good reviews of this place decided to try it. After eating there I am concerned about the tastes of most reviewers on here! Wouldn't go back unless needed a change from the v few other restaurants in northern suburbs.

Have been several times now and can say that the food is very good - large portions and very tasty although maybe a bit heavy on the cheese. The decor is daggy but that's no problem really - the reasonable prices of the meals more than makes up for that.

From what we could see, the manager can get pretty stressed and cranky - not nice for the customers.

However, as I said the food is really good and we will be going back.

Best Mexican by far that i have had. There is so much choice on the menu and there is just about every Mexican food you can imagine. We only had to wait 15 minutes and our meals came out. very friendly service and the meals were massive, i couldn’t finish mine. nice atmosphere with a low music level which was perfect for conversations. the decor is a little outdated but nevertheless serves its purpose of a Mexican feel. i would go back there again as i was very satisfied.

I've been there about 5 times and seems a bit hit and miss what you get from it. Twice I have been there when the service was poor, waiting over an hour and a half for the meals. What made it worse was there were only 4 others in the restaurant.

The decor was interesting plain but added to the atmosphere. It is no classy restaurant but the meals are massive and cheap. The food is quite tasty and good value for money.

The staff look as happy as McDonalds workers and there is no real cheer to the place.

But it’s a cheap restaurant that usually serves good food.

My wife and I went here on a Friday night for our "date night". And really, ambience is the only thing the place lacks. Their attempts are decorating don't really take your eyes off the grey carpet and paneled ceiling that betray the building's former life as on office.

But once we got past that, the rest of the night was lovely. The meals were generously sized and tasty, plus there was a large variety in what could be ordered. The meat in my beef taco was a bit watery, but the chicken and beef enchiladas that came with it on my combo plate made up for it. The chocolate mousse for dessert was also delicious.

The staff were also excellent - very friendly, very prompt and very attentive. They really helped make our night.

We'll be back...

I have just moved to Perth from Sydney. Not really knowing my way around, I stumbled onto Garcia’s while driving around looking for a local place for dinner.

The food was fantastic. Quite traditional Mexican, rather than the Tex Mex stuff which passes as Mexican these days.

I had Fajitas, which I haven't had in quite a while. Would have to say the portion was HUGE and very tasty. Just as good as the Fajitas I used to get in Sydney from a place run by a chef from Mexico. My friends had steaks and they were cooked to perfection.

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. I will be back without a doubt.
