Very good Chinese food, quality seafood, definitely will be going back again!

A group of us from work (20 people) went there on a weeknight, to celebrate Chinese New Year early. We booked ahead, and one of the girls from work picked out a menu for us ahead of time. We did not go with a traditional banquet menu, as the menu was not out in time when we were organising the dinner, and there were a few people who don't eat seafood, which is often heavily favoured in the banquet menus.

We started with the traditional raw fish salad, which was served with smoked salmon. Made of freshly grated carrot and radish, it tasted so good. Peking duck was the next course, which was crispy duck skin wrapped in a pancake with a spring onion and hoi sin sauce. The second duck course was "san choy bow" duck served with lettuce leaves. The third course was duck soup, which had a "gamey & fatty" taste, which is understandable, as it is made from the bones of the duck.

We then went on to have patagonian toothfish, a large fillet fried with crispy skin served with a simple soy type sauce (some call this Hong Kong style). Lemon chicken was next, good flavour with not too much batter on the chicken, and pepper beef fillet to follow, which were tender morsels of beef served with broccoli.

The fried whole prawns were divine, with Australian king prawns served. The Peking pork ribs were a bit "fatty" for some, but I thoroughly enjoyed these, especially the special sweet dark sauce that covered them. The fried rice was OK, I have had better elsewhere. We also had steamed Chinese vegetable in oyster sauce. We finished off with cut up pieces of fresh fruit.

The service was excellent, especially the lady owner who was very friendly. The young male waiter was not so friendly, but we didn't mind, as the food was so good. Corkage for wine is $4.50 per bottle, and the meal came to $45 per head as as we had negotiated a special price for our group.

Great food, nice decor inside, with crisp white tablecloths. We will be back, but we have heard that the owners will be closing the restaurant in June 2008 after 10 years of business!

We had a Chinese New Year banquet there this year and it was one of the best banquets we've had for many years. I eat here as part of a group of 10 to 15 every month or so, we all rate the quality of the food quite high. It can be pricey compared to "other" Chinese places, but far cheaper than most Italian places which is the other frequent choice when our group gets together.

The restaurant has a fairly up-market presentation, lots of glass, crisp white linen, gold coloured ornaments. Obviously it was noisy - every seat taken, 4 dragons dancing, incessant drumming, lot of talking and laughter.

The food was of a consistent high standard throughout from the traditional noodle start, then crayfish, abalone and shitake mushrooms, scallops with ginger and spring onion, golden coin tofu, crispy fried duck, good fresh spinach in sesame oil and seeds, baked snapper, noodles, rice then fresh fruit.

Being new year, if was quite pricey (food about $600 per table of 10-12 plus drinks or byo charges) but good value for money and better than recent new year banquets at China House, Genting Palace, or a place in Bennett St who's name currently eludes me.

Over priced! Serving size was too small. Food was yummy but not much to choose from. Very poor service. Food was out quick but only a few people in the restaurant. Drinks overpriced, no dessert menu. Got charged extra for Credit card and Sunday. Glass wear all scratched, waiter didn’t speak much English. very disappointed. Left hungry and broke and that was with the entertainment card.

We go to Good Fortune fairly regularly, mainly because I have a vegetarian friend and they are one of the few dim sum places that have vegetarian choices (and that means no fish!). Ordering off the menu means that we actually get the vegetarian meals, and they've always explained the dishes to us when we've asked. I don't think it's the best dim sum I've had, though it's pretty good, a bit expensive but that's where the Entertainment Card comes into play! And when I've had the crispy squid there it's always been good!
