Welcome to Goose Cafe (The)
An all day bistro/restaurant that combines influences from Europe and Asia with ambandon in dishes that can surprise with their execution. It's a charming space full of light and overflowing onto a verandah that is great in warmer months. The breakfasts are interesting, venturing away from the basics with the same sense of adventure as the main meal menus, and between meal snacks are just so tempting.

Well I'm surprised to read some of the reviews on The Goose. On the easter long weekend just recently my hubby and I went to Busselton for abit of a get away and booked a table there.
We got there abit later than our booking time but was shown to a table by the window which looked out over the water. The service we found to be excellent, food wonderful and atmosphere delightful. Usually we get to a restaurant here in Perth and you're rushed. There is was laid back but still great service.
After eating our entrees we asked for them to hold off on the mains which they did without hesistation. Then a short time later we asked for the mains which was great. Hubby had Barramundi and I had a pasta dish both great. Couldn't ask for more. The staff were helpful and jovial which made for a great evening. Next time we go back I think we'll go there again.

I had the venison shank which was great and my husband had the chowder which was superb. I couldn't fault the food it was excellent. However we were surprised to see that there was 10% GST added to the bill. I'm not saying that there isn't a foot note telling you that this is the case but we didn't see it, and the amount on the bill was 10% higher than the figure that was written on the menu next to the choice that we requested. Also we were on holiday in the region and called the restaurant on Wednesday at noon to make the reservation for the Thursday night, so I wasn't pleased to receive a call at 8.45am on Thursday morning to confirm my booking for that night. The ringing of my mobile was just the relaxing start to my morning that I was looking for on my hols.

My gosh, after reading the other reviews I can't believe we are talking about the same place! We recently stayed in Busselton, and had lunch at this cafe. We ordered some fries for the kids, and they did make an error in sending two bowls instead of just one, but once I pointed this out, we were given the second bowl for free! And may I add, they were the best fries I've ever tasted in my life! My husband had the lamb cutlets, which were divine, and I had the linguine with prawns, sdt, chorizo, olives and onion - absolutely fantastic! Service was great! The views were spectacular, an overall wonderful lunch experience!

We went to Busselton and Margaret River for a one week holiday. Before we left for Margaret River, we stopped by the Goose Cafe. This is situated right at the beach, near the Busselton jetty and Nautical Lady water slide. It also have has disabled facilities. I noticed this as I took along my grandmother who had trouble walking long distances so we needed a restaurant that’s got a ramp for the wheelchair. The rest had nice big windows so diners can have a nice view of the jetty and the sea. When we entered, we were not even walked to our table but the lady just pointed an unclean table and asked us to sit there. It took around 10 mins to get a drinks menu and I had to ask for them to wipe the table clean for us. The table wasn't even set up for us after they wiped it clean. No serviettes or bread plates put on the table. We ordered garlic bread for starters and still no bread plates were given after they served the bread. I ordered for fish and chips with salad and the food was great! Fish was fresh and so was the chips and salad. My son ordered lamb shanks and was very very nice. The nuggets n chips for my other younger children were nice too. Cost was $12.50 for a child's meal and my naan ordered just toasted ham and cheese. The service was ok after that. They did have a wide range of wine and other drinks in the drinks menu but I only had Coke. After our meal we weren't offered any desert at least for the kids nor coffee. With 2 main meals, no wine, a toasted sandwich and 2 kids meals, my bill was over $100.00. So it was a bit pricey and I feel that it wasn't worth it. Overall, it was ok but you don't get value for your money. Basically the ambience was nice, waitresses/waiters were friendly, service was not up to standards, food was nice and fresh but too expensive I think.

We had lunch at the revamped Goose during our week's soujourn 'down south' and were very disappointed after hearing rave reviews from friends. The service was very slow - due to a lack of trained wait staff during the busy holiday season - and drinks ordered when we arrived were eventually cancelled when the main dishes arrived over an hour later. Give the Goose it's due -their value was subtracted from the bill - but the mollification this caused did not improve the taste in our mouth.
My main of chilli mussels was very salty. Others in our party reported reasonable fare - but given the prices of about $30 per main, we expected better than 'just okay.' And the $16.50 for a miniscule cheese platter (3 slivers each about 10 gms) was really unforgiveable.
