Grand Palace Chinese Restaurant

Grand Palace Chinese Restaurant

Situated in Perth, Western Australia in a heritage listed building built in 1928, The Grand Palace offers one of the finest Cantonese dining experiences in the country. With a menu that is influenced by western cultures, owners Wenny and Fia Wang will greet you with a friendly welcome as you enter this magnificently appointed restaurant that is matched with first class, fine Chinese cuisine and service.

Located on the park and close to Perth's famous landmark, The Bell Tower, the Grand Palace Chinese Restaurant is without doubt one of Western Australia's finest eating establishments. Gone is the normal red and gold décor associated with Chinese restaurants, and in its place a contemporary design with pastel blues and greys fused with a delicate Asian flavour. This elegant but casual restaurant is widely frequented by Perth's corporate and financial leaders, and is an outstanding venue for weddings and corporate functions. One look on entering will tell you that you have come to somewhere special. Try the Grand Palace, where 'East meets West elegantly'. You won't want to leave.

Owners Wenny and Fai Wang will offer you not only the finest service, but also an extensive menu which utilises the freshest of WA's produce ranging from the finest seafood to crocodile and kangaroo. The menu is influenced by Fai, an award winning chef, with authentic Cantonese and Szechuan flavours. Try the Hong Kong Bay style king prawns (the prawns fresh from local sources) or the world famous rock lobster, which is so fresh it is still swimming. For those who are not seafood lovers the menu also offers a vast array of other dishes like Szechuan Chicken, Peking Duck, Black Pepper Fillet Steak, Xin Jiang Lamb Fillet plus a selection of vegetarian dishes. The Grand Palace also offers you an extensive wine list with local and interstate wines and beers, and spirits from a fully stocked bar.

  • Interesting history of the building; if you don't know; do a bit of research. Anyway, nicely set up in standard chinese restaurant fit out. The upstairs private function room is a good spot for a large business gathering.

  • We dined on Saturday August 1st 2009. Six of us celebrating our daughters birthday. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar area before our meal - the sole barman was kept extremely busy and the cocktails the girls ordered took some time to arrive. We consulted the waiter about how many dishes we should order and were given helpful advice. The restaurant was nearly full and our meals took a while to arrive but the wait was totally worthwhile - the food was simply delish!!!!! Chinese at its very best!

  • As mentioned before the bar service was a bit tardy but the actual wait staff were attentive, polite and helpful. We did have to ask for water however, which was quite a surprise considering the the overall standard.

  • If you want an average night out, at for an average price, at an average restaurant then don't go to the Grand Palace! It is quite pricey but the service is good and the food is just magnificent! It is somewhere to have a great evening and best of all it is a five minute walk from Esplanade station!
