Food:

Had the Bruschetta for entree, very nice. and tender beef with gnocci for mains, this had a very strong stew taste, i was expecting gnocci on the side in napoli sauce, but this was quite nice, my partner had the crumbed veal stack with tomato and mushroom risotto i think it was, this looked very nice also, he said it was good. They dont do pizza's.

Service:

Had to try and flag down waitress's for more drinks, but the service overall was very good and friendly.

Ambience:

Quite a small venue, looks much bigger from the outside, but very nice and cosy.

Overall:
Will be back, good menu and a nicely priced local cafe.

I was a first timer at Gratzi for lunch on Sunday 16 March - I have to say, I cannot wait to go back again - and have enough room for dessert this time.

The food was delicious. I had the fish of the day (pink snapper) for main, which was so fresh and melt in your mouth. The servings were enormous, and service second to none. Well done Gratzi! I will be back!

I finally had the chance to try gratzi out last week I printed the discount voucher for 25% out and booked in for lunch on thursday. We were greeted upon arrival and shown to our seats, feeling very hungry we ordered straight up!

I chose the prawn and avocado salad mum ordered the calamari, upon inquiry I was assured that the seafood was WA fresh.

The meals that came out were beautiful especially mums calamari, it was fresh and tender. Service was flawless, ambiance cosy, prices reasonable...can’t wait to return.

This place must be the best kept secret of Perth dining. I've visited twice and each time has been great. The food is great, service is good and the restaurant has a good atmosphere too. The food service is uncannily quick.

The food here is awesome. The lamb stack with risotto is heavenly - 2 lamb schnitzels sandwiched with wild mushroom risotto and roasted tomatoes. Gnocchi with beef cheeks was delicious - personally I've been searching for good gnocchi for a long time, each time disappointed but these potato gnocchi are the only exception! The handmade gnocchi are smothered in a rich beef cheek tomato ragu. Thought I couldn't finish the huge serving but I did.. =)

The desserts are popular. They are usually big servings too. The panna cotta and the sticky date puddings are pretty good. If visiting this restaurant it'd be a good idea to save some space for dessert.

The ambience of the restaurant is good. Gratzi is a comfortable suburban restaurant. Not too noisy and not cramped either. The service is usually very good (an exception in Perth in my humble opinion). The food service however is very, very fast - without compromising food quality - how do they do it? On my first visit, the garlic bread came within 5 minutes of ordering and the main meals came about five minutes after.

I would definitely recommend Gratzi to anyone who likes good food. I'll definitely be visiting again. Gratzi is a great restaurant for good food and long dinners with friends and family.

Love Gratzi. Been many times. Great for a group or couple. Service can be a bit slow. We had the sticky squid - fantastic & the garlic bread - huge servings. Then we both had the lamb shanks - double serving of course....it is huge but absolutely delicious. Reasonable pricing too. The serves were so big we could not get to dessert. I will definitely go again soon.

Once again a terrific meal and night out spent at Gratzi Cafe in Morley.

Hubbie and I dined there last night and enjoyed a lovely warm welcome. We hadn't made a reservation but that was no problem and we were offered the lovely garden dining area for our seating. Which suited us fine!

First up we were offered water and given the menu and 'specials of the day'. We had opted to BYO so our wine was opened for us and when our waitress returned we were ready to order.
We shared a trio of dips which were served with warmed pizza bread. We ordered an extra serve of bread so we could finish off the dips and not waste them. They just tasted too nice to send back half eaten!

I chose the Warm Chicken salad for my main meal and hubbie opted for the Seafood Risotto. Our mains were served fairly soon after our entree dishes were cleared from the table. The service was spot on - not rushed but we were not left waiting just the same!

My Chicken Salad was delicious, a blend of spiced chicken breast fillet pieces with beautifully presented green salad, tossed through were some cherry tomatoes and capsicum strips, There were also cubes of roasted pumpkin and macadamia nuts pieces (which was an unusal but very yummy addition to the salad). The dish was dressed with a lightly spiced ranch-style dressing. I was very impressed with the presentation and the taste of my dish.

Hubbies Seafood Risotto was also cooked to perfection. An almost 'creamy' blend of tomato and herb flavoured rice with mussels, prawn, calamari and fish pieces. The calamari was cooked perfectly and very tender. He cleaned his plate which is always a good indication of a good meal!!

We were too full for dessert so we decided against ordering further.

Our bill came to $70 exactly and we were very satisfied and had thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Our waitress thanked us for eating with them as did the lady doing the front desk service.

Ambience was delightful (lots of people having a really good time), delicious cuisine and very polite and attentive wait-staff.

As I said before always a terrific night out at Gratzi Cafe! 5 stars all round!

Iam a regular customer a Gratzi and the only compliant was about the service.

i had booked a table for my mum’s birthday. Although the food was delicious, it took a couple of goes to get the waitresses attention to take our orders. When our mains were taken away we werntt given a dessert menu. 10 mins later i had to asked the waitress to give us all desert menus. We then had to flag the waitress down again to take our orders.

When we got home to look at the bill we notice that there were 2 extra corkages and looked down at the rest of the receipt and found we were charged for 3 extra drinks and deserts we didnt have.

We rang up Gratzi and went through the table order and we found that the waitress had put the table next to us, their drinks and deserts onto our bill. They had already left the table by the time we rang.

Gratzi apologised and we were credited with the amount back. I love the food here but i have noticed the more Gratzi gets busier with a full restaurant, the service seems to slip.

Make sure you check your bill before you pay!

Very impressed! Generous serves and reasonably priced. For starters we had an anti-pasto plate and deep fried quid in a sweet chilli sauce which was great. For mains, I had duck and scallop salad which was also delicious. The duck was tender and scallops cooked to perfection and both were plentiful considering it was priced at only $26.

Ambience:
Busy with typical italian restaurant decor. Had outdoor sitting area which would have been nicer.

Service:
Professional phone manner when I made the booking. I found the service okay as is expected with busy Italian restaurants but some of my other friends were not too happy. I've had worse at other italian eateries and the food too.

Overall:
Will definitely be back again to try the other dishes! Just goes to show you don't have to spend alot to get good food.

Almost not worth leaving a review since there is so many already and obviously Gratzi is a quality establishment.....but I couldn't resist.

Dropped in for dinner after late night shopping as I remember this place had a good write up.

Walked through the doors to be whacked in the face with the tantalising aroma of fresh garlic.

So how could we resist starting off with some garlic bread. It was hot and tasty, dripping with chunks of garlic. Mmmm.

For mains I went for the Spaghetti Mafioso, homemade spaghetti with prawns, chilli and garlic in a tomato cream sauce, was delicious with just the right amount of chilli kick.

The boy went for Spaghetti Marinara which had a generous amount of seafood (no frozen marinara mix here) and a hint of chilli.

All washed down with a Oyster Bay Sav Blanc at a cost of about $70. Was a truly italian experience and took me back to a favorite restaurant that my Dad used to take me to when I was younger.

Gratzi Gratzi ;)

It’s always very interesting to read the reviews of other diners. There is obviously a lot of different likes and dislikes about restaurants, whether it be food tastes, ambience and atmosphere or general dining expectations.

I have visited Gratzi a number of times have always found the mood, food and the general groove of things there to be spot on!

The decor is pleasant and clean, the food is ample and fresh (and the chef has always been happy to accommodate my hubbie's food intolerances satisfactorily). Which is always appreciated and makes dining a pleasant experience all round for us.

I say Keep up the Good work Gratzi.
We'll be back again to enjoy your hospitality soon.

I decided to go to Gratzi at the last minute with a friend on sunday night after a movie and thinking being a sunday i thought it wouldnt matter that i had no booking. I only just got a table as they were full and they told that this is the case most nights.

I had the usual garlic bread to start, this is my fave garlic bread in the whole of Perth i would have to say and then i wanted a ceasar salad but with an entree special they had. I was kind of making my own menu and that was fine but the waitress and chef. So i had a sticky squid leg ceasar and it was just to die for! The spicy, crunchy legs on a fresh salad was so good i ate the whole thing even though it was massive.

My friend has a lasagne which was huge also, she thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was the best she has had in a long time.

Overall it was great, the staff were very busy but made a point to apologise for any wait, which i didnt feel there was and the food was fantastic at a reasonable price.

I thought I'd review this again since I've been twice for lunch since the last review. Once was on a weekend, and I had a salad with greens, scallops, smoked chicken, cashews, and pear with, I think, a balsamic vinegar dressing. The chicken was very dry, but overall very nice and the scallops were fantastic, plump and tasty. The kids meals were the usual fare of nuggets, etc., nothing exceptional, and my husband had a roast chicken dish which was very large and he said was OK. I saw some people having breakfast and it looked very tasty -- will have to try it some time. My other lunch was a midweek $10 special, and I tried the mussels in ouzo and cream with snow peas. The peas were in slivers, the cream sauce was very creamy, and the mussels plentiful. Apparently this is an entree size, but it was more than adequate for lunch. Also shared some garlic bread which was delicious, probably the best I've had (and I was happy with the garlic bread last time too so it's consistent). All in all very good value for a weekday lunch and I'll happily go back and try another variety of the mussels next time. The other diners at the table were all very happy with their meals, which included the chili mussels, and three of the pasta dishes.

As a young couple who love food and dine out frequently, I have to say that Gratzi is one of my and my partner’s favourite restaurants in Perth.

The service is always fast, friendly and efficient and, to not risk sounding like an amateur food critic, put simply the food is always delicious.

I come from an Italian family with old-fashioned food values and I have never left this place disappointed.

The best recommendation I make is taking friends and family there to see for themselves.

I found Grazti by mistake as driving by and thought we would try it out.

The spaghetti Mafiosi is absolutely magnificent with the succulent fat tiger prawns. I have also tried the dips and bread and you can't fault this dish!

One thing i love about Grazti is it's homemade Gelati deserts, they are so delicate, almost too good to eat!!

I have eaten here numerous times and the staff are always helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

The servings are quite good and we always leave there with a full belly. You can buy wine at the restaurant or BYO, which corkage is reasonably priced.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a relaxing dinner for good value for money and friendly service.

I have been to Gratzi restaurant in the last few months about 5 times. Mostly breakfasts and one evening meal. Brekkies are just great. Food delicious, staff really nice. In the evening I was a little disappointed, with the fact that I thought we had more time to order our meal, then we found out that the kitchen closed at 8.30pm. I know my friend and I talk a lot, so when we finally found out that we needed to order, well we were a little surprised. Maybe there should be a sign or something that tells us to order by 8.30. When our food did arrive, it was delicious and we did enjoy it. We were the last in the restaurant that Thurs evening, and we did enjoy ourselves.

I've been to Gratzi a few times and I always find the place relaxing, a great place to go for lunch as well with friends and family. A good list of wines and also have a good $10.00 lunch deal with good prices for pasta and mussels. You can also join the diners club online which gets you great savings and specials. The staff have always been warm and friendly. They have a good range of desserts, enough to make you want to go straight home rather than going back to work. Last week, I had lunch with my workmate that was leaving. We had the garlic bread and was served with 4 HUGE ones which were really nice. I had the spinach and pumpkin frittata served with a nice green side salad and my friend had a nice Caesar Salad sandwich which was also HUGE! They were lovely. If you have the entertainment book, you can also use that to make your dining even more worth it. I wouldn't mind going back again and taking my kids as they also have a kids menu and a kid friendly atmosphere.

A Pleasant Surprise

I’ve been to Gratzi (especially in its previous guises, Dante’s and Trevi) since the early 90s, and it was a regular for quite a while. I’ve avoided it for about 3 years now, since a couple of very dissatisfied experiences when it changed ownership, and it was therefore with a little trepidation that I arranged a party of five to try a Wednesday night there.

The place is reasonably well maintained in terms of décor, and quite pleasing on the eye. The cane-covered chairs are also comfortable. There is a (mostly enclosed) garden area for al-fresco dining (in fact, that’s where the smokers would congregate in days thankfully past!).

Although there are no real surprises on the menu, it is quite comprehensive, with pastas, salads, mains (based around chicken, veal or seafood) and with the addition of mussels as a specialty. There’s also a separate kids menu, which adds to the family orientation of the place.

There is also a wine list, heavily leaning towards Swan Valley and WA producers, and at the lower end of the price spectrum (to allow usual restaurant mark-ups without requiring a second mortgage). The restaurant is also BYO wine (only), which is a positive in my book!

The five of us shared a serve of garlic bread, an olive foccacia with chili oil and olive tapenade, and a trio of dips (spring onion, olive and feta, and sun-dried tomato, I think) with pizza bread. These were fine in terms of quality and taste, I found the dips a fraction bland, but this was compensated for by the very more-ish foccacia. The restaurant also does the usual calamari, Italian sausage, and similar entrees.

The group went for a mixture of pastas and main courses (e.g. Tuscan roast chicken with macadamia, cheese and spinach, linguini, veal parmigiana). I had the Tuscan chicken, which was pretty good; a rich tomato-based sauce accompanied the chicken, along with beans, pumpkin and whole baby potatoes. The presentation of all dishes we saw was also very good, drawing positive comments from my group before they had taken a mouthful.

The servings are quite large, especially the pastas, which would be beyond the capacity of most people I know. As a result, we didn’t make it to dessert, which appears to be a course entirely bought-in by Gratzi from outside sources (a selection of Cake Box cakes and Benny’s gelati), although that doesn’t have to be a problem.

The service is average, moderately friendly, and maybe a little keen to clear the table, on a quiet evening for them. No real faults, but nothing outstanding, either.

The Entertainment Book voucher kept the cost to about $25 per head.

So, my opinion has now changed. Without giving it 5 stars, I would go back again, as would my fellow diners, and that’s probably as good a recommendation as any!

If only Gratzi was within my area, my insatiable appetite for mussels would be easily met. We went for their $10 lunch special having the pesto cream mussel, chilli mussel, fettuccini carbonara and linguine pesto. As stated by a previous reviewer, I believe their pasta was indeed homemade as it was just so smooth. The fettuccini carbonara was really tasty but I found the linguine pesto a little bland. But I blame it on myself as I had the chilli mussels before eating my share of the linguine pesto. Problem with sharing is that our taste buds get desensitised at times to the milder tasting dish after you have eaten the stronger flavoured dish.

To me the mussels were to die for at $10. The mussels were cooked to perfection and not a single one was unopened. Either the mussels were extremely fresh or Gratzi had taken the trouble to discard the unopened ones before serving unlike some fine dining restaurants which don’t and yet charge hefty prices. The sauces were simply delicious and there was plenty to lap it up with bread which I will order the next visit. I shamefully drank it like broth this time.

The $10 special menu is pretty impressive with a huge array of about 10 different pastas and 6 different mussel dishes. On the service side, there appeared to be only a sole waitress but she was very efficient and the meals also came out pretty quick. Do sign up for their E-newsletter as members are entitled to regular specials. Gratzi is generous as we were given a voucher for a complimentary dish with a bottle of Oakover wine thrown in as well for a party of 4. Sigh. If only Gratzi was just around the corner, it would very well be my weekly mussel fix.

I must admit I did expect quite a lot from Gratzi, after phoning to make a booking and being informed that they were booked out, and we could have a table at such-and-such a time, but had to vacate it because some regulars were expecting it. I don't really think it delivered quite to my expectations.

My main gripe was the table. (Which had been set for four, yet booked for two)The waitress did not seem impressed when we informed her there were only two of us. The main problem however was the stickiness! The table was sticky all over and as we were in a hurry, (we had to leave at certain time to free up the table)I did not get a chance to ask the staff to clean it. It did make dining quite uncomfortable for my husband and I.

It was a very warm night and I was pleased when the aircon was turned on. I was not pleased, however, when less than a minute after being turned on it was switched off because a couple next to us complained it was too cold for their baby. There were no other babies there, yet many hot adults and I think the staff should have taken this into consideration.

The entrees were served quite quickly, and were satisfactory. I thought the price of the Italian sausage plate was a bit extravagant but the garlic bread was nice.

For the mains I had the risotto which was the highlight of the night, it was both a generous serving and yummy tasting, not too gluggy as some risottos can be. My husband had the fish of the day, but opted for chips instead of the vegies, which turned out quite disappointing as we ended up paying nearly $30 for two bits of fish and some fries.

All up it was not a hugely bad evening but all the little things add up when you are out enjoying a meal and I don't think we will return again.

Today i treated my friend to lunch for her birthday and i ordered us the monstrous seafood platter!

It had so many different foods i can't even remember them all, i definitely enjoyed the marinated octopus which tasted fresh and home made and the chilli mussels and calamari were just divine. The scallops were large and not over cooked, a mistake made by a lot of restaurants. Overall i cannot say how great it was, except for the table of rowdy teenage girls next to us who were so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. So the waitress asked if we would like to move into the garden area for some piece and quiet. We thought that was a fabulous idea and she had no problem re locating us.

Would definitely order this again, it was soooo big a serving we couldn't even fit in cake. YUMMMY

I was looking forward to trying Gratzi this afternoon for the $10 mussels special, so was disappointed to learn that there were no mussels available. Apparently the mussel man was running late, and none were on hand at 12:45 pm. I chose the fettuccine carbonara instead, and the pasta was delicate, the sauce creamy and nicely flavoured. The garlic bread, which we shared, was excellent, but my friend was not as happy with her meal. The chips were very good, but the steak on her sandwich was very fatty and didn't look particularly appetising. Service was acceptable. The waitress was attentive, but failed to initially give us the menus which had the pasta/mussels special on them (probably since there were no mussels), and didn't offer cracked pepper (though she did to the next table) or extra grated cheese which is often standard with pasta dishes. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the bill came to a reasonable $34 for 2 lunches, garlic bread, 3 sodas and 2 coffees. I'd go back, but mainly because I'm still curious about those mussels.

I have been there numerous times and have also tried the mussels which are always plump and fresh, not shriveled and old like I have been served up in other restaurants.

I highly recommend this restaurant but have been disappointed before when i didn't make a booking as it is always busy.

i would have to disagree, we frequent gratzi alot and must say the lamb shanks are amongst the best i have ever tried, and you cant go past the pasta & mussel specials for both taste and value.

we were last there on saturday night and forgot to book however after a short wait we finally got a table and the food was as good as always, the staff frendly and polite and the service was great, not too many places actually replace your cutlery after your entree and the water is free unlike in mount lawley.

gratzi is agreat place to go, the fact that it is full most nights of the week is testament to that, i would highly recomend a visit but BOOK or you may miss out.

Gratzi is a very nicely set up restaurant with a pleasant and cosy ambiance. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, we've never had to wait to be served. It's a good place for kids, as colouring books and crayons are provided.

The food is only average, we've only ever been there for dinner however. The pastas range from average to nice in our experience, but we haven't been impressed with the lamb shanks or many other meat dishes.

Servings are generous and they have good prices on weeknights (currently a special going on) so it's worth a visit :)

One of our fav places to go! They have super pasta with great deals. The restaurant is cosy, relaxed & pleasant. The staff is courteous & mostly on the ball. The owners are very friendly & do a great job with their place.

We discovered their breakfast/brunch & now love to have a leisurely Sunday morning/early afternoon there when we can. It can be busy so if you are wanting a table for more than 2 it's best to make reservations. One draw back can be the lack of parking at times, so all bundle up in one huge vehicle & go try GRATZI!! ;-)
