Food:
The food here, although its a "pub" venue is first class, it does not really matter what dish you order from the menu its always top quality and very well cooked and presented. The squid in black bean sauce with stir fried asian greens and steamed rice is excellent, comes on a sizzling platter with lovely sauce. The "fics and chips" is actually bara and is the best. Try the duck and pear sausage (they are often sold out). If you are lucky enough to get them you will realise why. The chefs here are in view of patrons and are really good to see in action - Gordon Ramsey - dont bother calling in here! - they will show you a trick or three

Service:
Cannot be faulted - Im pretty picky myself and actually left a tip - thats all I need to say

Ambience:
OK

Overall:
Pretty good experience. we had my 88 year old mother with us on a walking frame and the staff were great

My hubby decided that he wanted to have his birthday dinner here, despite my suggestions of somewhere else! its just easy i guess and is central for all our friends but i guess im kinda over it!

We had a large group of 14 and we all did have a good time, drinks flowed, meals all came out at the same time and i think everyone was happy with their choices.

I had the chicken parmagiana which was massive and i struggled to get thru it.

I guess my main gripe with this place is the pricing...premium prices for fairly average food and of course imported seafood, it basically pub grub with no table service and chips with everything!

I guess i will be dragged back at some point by some relative but i wont be happy about it!

What a fantastic experience, went here for my birthday with husband, four kids, sister and mum. Service was excellent; she spoke to the kids and got down to their level to chat, even with the baby. Was always prompt with bringing out bread, water and drinks. Food was delicious, big serves, could pay as we went, and all paid our own way.

What can we say - we were even 45 minutes late as had problems getting away, and we called them couple times to let them know - no problems, were not rushed out - they suggested we put in order fairly quickly as another big table there, and we had kids.

Great experience, great food, great service, great night - will definitely be back!!

Never a disappointment coming to the Greenwood. I have been here a number of times and every time the meals have been fantastic.. nice satisfying servings, delicious variety and service is always great. The staff are friendly and efficient.

On my last visit i chose the main serving of garlic prawns over salad and it was superb. The prawns were cooked just right and seemed very fresh and there was a lot of it! . All my friend's dishes were equally as nice and the compliments on the food were flowing.

This is a great place to eat. Its casual friendly atmosphere together with affordable satisfying meals.... I am definitely becoming a regular!

Ok im going to try keep this brief! will save my(issues) for the chat forum!

We went to the greenwood last night for my birthday dinner; we are members of their birthday club so each year on your birthday you get a gift voucher entitling you to one free main and a bottle of wine...good value.

So orders are made everything is lovely, wait staff attentive, free bread is put on table.

I ordered straight up for my little one and within 10mins out came his main and everyone’s entrees.

Entrees were nice,i ordered the garlic prawn salad and it was full of flavour, my only complaint is that the prawns were obviously the pre cooked frozen variety.

Time for mains...me and my gran ordered the prawn and avocado fettuccine this pasta dish was dry and gluggy lacking any flavour at all! after adding salt and pepper it was passable but it became apparent that there was actually no avocado present in this dish...it wasnt cheap$22.50 also my mum ordered the barramundi which came with chips and salad @$23.90 and she was adamant that it wasnt barra.

I decided to query the waitress who apologised for the missing avocado and confirmed to me that the barra was actually imported barramundi...hmmm

We were offered free coffee and desserts which was a lovely touch.

All up...next time i go i think i will stick to the steak! but they do everything else soo right,i cant deny that.

Value for money is exceptional here. Especially for lunch.

My menu picks:
*The calamari is REALLY good.
*Pumpkin soup with fresh crusty bread- yum.
*Pasta Carbonara - if phenomenal.

I also tried the chicken burger once - the roll it came on made it a bit hard (literally) to eat ... but you win some you lose some. Overall, for a pub bistro this place gets two thumbs up from me.

We go to the Greenwood a lot and the food is always fantastic, as is the service from the lovely Diane and Natasha. Tonight was no exception. I had the most amazing vegetable and walnut omelette with fresh herbs.

Everyone at our table was very happy with everything until my husband ordered a beer. The man asked if he would like a drink to which my father in law replied "Give him a pint of Stella". My husband said "No, I'm not a big fan of that - could I please have a pint of Pure Blonde instead?". The waitperson repeated the order but when it was delivered by a different waitperson, she said "Stella Artois" as she put it down. My husband explained that he had actually ordered Pure Blonde and she said "I'm sure it said Stella, but I'll take it back". When she came back with a pint of Pure Blonde, as she set it down she said "It WAS Stella on the order, but oh well".

Excuse me? Regardless of what is written down and what your personal point of view is, the customer has asked for something different and you should fix the mistake without commenting on it.

Aside from that one minor hiccup, everything was fantastic.

Went to the greenwood on Monday night for a birthday dinner, service in this restaurant is top notch you always have someone available and there is plenty of staff on even on a Monday night. Ordered our meals they were delivered on time. the only complaint at table was from my sis who ordered the Thai chicken breast, the dish came out covered in crispy dry noodles that were impossible the get on a fork and she said the actual meal was lacking in flavour, when the waitress came around we asked her about the success rate with this dish and she admitted that 9 out of 10 people didn’t eat the noodles on top, but told us a new menu was coming soon sop maybe they will get rid of this dish...had a little one with me and went to order for him but was once again miffed as to why none of the kids meals come with a side salad, this is common place nearly everywhere we go now. All up though a good night!

We came here as a group of six for dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was heading towards busy.

The food, as usual, was absolutely exquisite.

I want to go into more detail about the service. We were served by a woman named Diane and it was the best service I have ever had anywhere. She was down to earth, chatty and most importantly, knew everything there was to know about the menu. She let us know her favourites and why. She didn't have to read the specials off a board or a slip of paper. She was very prompt.

All this helped make it a really great meal out and I will go back many times because of this. Excellent service really makes a place.

It was my first time at The Greenwood Hotel, and I found it to be pretty much what I expected which was pretty good food in a comfortable atmosphere. It was quite noisy, which seems pretty much par for the course in this style of brasserie, but the live music (singer with guitar) was very pleasant and at just the right volume to complement the atmosphere without overwhelming it. My only big problem with the evening was the chairs which were very uncomfortable to sit in for several hours. Next time I'll come early and grab a seat on the bench side. Service was fairly efficient for what it was -- you order at a counter, but there is wait staff to take drink and dessert orders. The food was good and hearty without being brilliant. I had the peppered duck breast and it was a good size portion of meat served on a large bed of risotto with some asparagus. Actually, the risotto tasted a little weird but that might have been a spice I'm not keen on. The duck was good but without that little something extra that would make me order it a second time.

I just love this place!

We were in quite a hurry last night when we ducked in here for a quick meal. Upon ordering and letting the staff know we were in a hurry I would say that the entrees arrived in a little over five minutes. My Lemon Pepper Calamari was delicious as was the Bruschetta with Sausage my partner had.

Plates were quickly cleared and the main courses arrived within five minutes.

My Barramundi was superb and the Peppered Duck Breast was even better.

The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is fantastic. This is fast becoming a favourite.

Overall:
As regular happy diners at The Greenwood, we were somewhat disappointed by our last experience.

We had reserved a large table, and arrived a little early for drinks at the bar and a chat. When we enquired about being seated we were informed that we could not sit down until the exact time of our booking, even though we could clearly see that the reserved table was ready. As we were a large group we were getting in the way of people trying to move from the restaurant area to the lounge area. We were informed that they were short staffed as an excuse.

When we were seated we were served promptly and efficiently, however when we enquired about the bread rolls which are usually complimentary, the waitress informed us 'sorry we ran out' without any offer. The meals were delicious as usual, the new items to the menu a treat, however it would have been nice if we recieved them all at the same time.

All in all it was not the fantastic dining experience usually had at The Greenwood, and enough to make us consider dining elsewhere for the next occasion. Hopefully next time the standard will be back to normal and the quality of service will match the excellent quality of food.

We went to the greenwood to get away from the kids and it was a great experience as it was everything we have been told about. The relaxed atmosphere was the start to a great lunch. I enjoyed the choice to either pay for pre-lunch drinks at the bar or to put the drinks on the tab.

The friendly staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was a worry to them. I also liked the flexibility of ordering our meals when we were ready. The overall choice was very good as well as you can choose smaller portions if you are not that hungry. Well worth the wait and we also liked the idea of sitting down on the lounges after to enjoy a drink before we went back home.
