Welcome to Hog's Breath Cafe Northbridge

Hog's Breath can be credited with developing and specialising Prime Rib Steaks in Australia, with the boast that there's not a more tender, mouth-watering steak to be found anywhere. To complement this signature dish and its diverse menu, Hog's Breath has created a distinctive style for people who enjoy casual dining experiences.

In a nutshell, it's all about providing quality food and beverage services in an informal, yet comfortable environment with an overriding friendly, party atmosphere.

Quite simply, the basic Hog's Breath philosophy is "have fun and enjoy yourself" - a principle engendered by its unique operating style and unlikely decor that sees walls crowded with unusual paraphernalia and memorabilia. In truth it's a place you have to personally experience to fully appreciate its rather different and exceptional reputation.

All Hog's Breath Cafes are in essence themed licensed restaurants catering to all ages. They incorporate three interacting components - a seated food service area, a licensed saloon bar and a merchandise shop exclusively carrying the Bad Hog clothing label.

We went here for Father's Day, and it was busy but not crazily so. My daughter has been wanting to go back since our first visit a year and a half ago, but I'm afraid it didn't quite live up to her expectations. Everything was fine, but after our first orders were taken service was slow and we kept spotting our waitress running around everywhere but our section. She seemed more concerned with clearing tables than taking dessert orders or checking if everything was OK. The kids burger meal was absolutely plain -- nothing but a burger and piece of cheese on a roll (along with the curly chips). Some salad on the side would have been nice. I had the steak with calamari which was cooked well and was good but not spectacular. I think what coloured my opinion more than anything was just that it felt like we were sitting there so long with minimal service and restless kids. I'd be happy to go back, but I can wait a while before the next Hogsbreath experience.

Overall:
The ribs and steak r super good.

I was given the impression the pig tail fries had a special accompanying sauce with it. (It said so in the menu) So i asked for the special sauce, and the young lady said there's no such thing, all they hv is ketchup -.-

So that was a downer there.

The worst was when I brought my family there for dinner. We ordered our drinks, apple juice, coke n plain water.

We waited for at least 20 mins, still no drinks. Then we realised we saw our tray of drinks sitting on the bar.

We looked at the bar for up to 15 mins, hinting the bar lady that we r still devoid of our drinks.

She had eye contact with us a few times, but never bothered why.

Waitresses and waiters went up to the bar countless times, passing the tray of drinks by, not even asking who it belongs to. They even chatted at the bar amongst themselves with the tray beside them.

So that was more than half hour wait for the drinks, when the steaks came I asked for the drinks. the waiter took the tray that's been sitting there for heaven knows how long, and still served it.

The ice was completely melted, the coke didn't even taste like coke anymore and you could even c the melted ice water layer on the surface, which was super dodgy and unappetizing.

If it weren't for their superb steaks, I don't think I'd even go there again.

The steak was very tender and very tasty, we went on a extremely busy night but still the waitress was very attentive. The chicken ranch salad was delicious also.

Overall a great dining experience, we have always enjoyed coming to Hogsbreath as we know we'll get great service and great food.

I’m sorry to say that I didn’t try the steak (as fiercely recommended by the wait staff) and instead had a cheese burger which was a culinary non-event. It makes me wonder why they would bother having anything else on the menu apart from the steaks if everything else is so bad (my partner’s meal was pretty poor as well).

The spiral chips were okay.

The people who work in this restaurant are friendly and attentive, but i found the décor cheap, naff, and much too busy for my tastes.

We were seating and had our drinks order taken - 15mins later still no drinks, 1 of us approached the bar, 5 mins later we got our drinks, the 2nd round was required not too long after that!!! So not a good start there.

We finally got our food order taken. Perhaps we were busy talking but we came to eat. I don't have a problem with young waitresses but they seemed barely 16 and unprofessional. Me and another got a Mexican combo, the small piece of steak with that was full of fat, 1 ordered fish which she was far from impressed with (dry), and the big steak that was ordered was tuff.

Not to return to that 1! Joondalup however has not been faultered.

Hog's Breath Cafe food is tender, tasty and value for money. The steaks are the best. I've been there a few times and I haven't had any problems with the food. I think the restaurant needs to be bigger, because its always busy and usually I go out for dinner with family and there's not much room for big tables. The staff are friendly and service is good. But I would definitely go there many times.

I've been to Hog's Breath several times now, usually in groups for parties, etc. It's a great place for that - the staff are friendly, the service is pretty fast, there's nice big meals and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed.

As far as specifics go... Hog's Breath is good/very good but not quite "amazing" in all areas. There's nothing really wrong with anything, but it doesn't *quite* have that little bit extra that makes a restaurant totally fantastic.

In the end, it's a great place - one of my regulars in Norby. Go there with a group, go there if you want a good steak (and some damn nice ribs!), go there if you want a casual and cheerful atmosphere.

Extremely tender steak, good kids' meals, and a down-to-earth pub atmosphere made our Hogsbreath experience an enjoyable one. I was looking for a place where I could get a decent bite to eat for my birthday last year, but where my (then) 3 and 5 year old girls would not be out of place or bored. Hogsbreath was perfect for that. Everyone I was with enjoyed their steaks, the appetisers were decent pub fare (some deep fried finger food with dipping sauce -- calimari, spring rolls, etc.), and the kids meals came with ice cream. Because of the relaxed atmosphere we didn't need to worry about everyone being on their best behaviour, and my younger daughter was sufficiently taken with it that she wants to open a restaurant called "Hog" when she's grown up.
