Welcome to Hog's Breath Cafe Mandurah
Hog's Breath can be credited with developing and specialising Prime Rib Steaks in Australia, with the boast that there's not a more tender, mouth-watering steak to be found anywhere. To complement this signature dish and its diverse menu, Hog's Breath has created a distinctive style for people who enjoy casual dining experiences.
In a nutshell, it's all about providing quality food and beverage services in an informal, yet comfortable environment with an overriding friendly, party atmosphere.
Quite simply, the basic Hog's Breath philosophy is "have fun and enjoy yourself" - a principle engendered by its unique operating style and unlikely decor that sees walls crowded with unusual paraphernalia and memorabilia. In truth it's a place you have to personally experience to fully appreciate its rather different and exceptional reputation.
All Hog's Breath Cafes are in essence themed licensed restaurants catering to all ages. They incorporate three interacting components - a seated food service area, a licensed saloon bar and a merchandise shop exclusively carrying the Bad Hog clothing label.

Overall:
Family dining is alive and well in Mandurah with Hog’s Breath café’s promotion of “Kids Eat Free”. We were there on a public holiday and asked if that special applied on that day and was hugely surprised with the answer that it was a 365 days a year offer. For each adult meal purchased, a kid’s meal is complimentary.
The restaurant is very spacious and interesting with their seemingly limitless American memorabilia decking the walls, frames and ceiling too. We were quickly seated and kids given a colouring sheet with a pencil case full of colour pencils and a handy sharpener on hand. Doubling up as a colouring competition, the kids got deep down into it.
The kid’s meals came out fairly fast. Daughter had the steak and son had the burger. Served with their specialty of Hog Tails fries, I did not find them particularly nice but it certainly was a novelty with the kids and they seemed happy enough. Steak was a little dry which was sort of expected as the meat was a thin piece and burger not much different from Maccas. The kid’s meals also came with a small glass of softdrink and 2 scoops of icecream. As usual, always a delight when it comes to the ice-cream.
As for our adult mains, the food did take rather a long time when there were only about 4 other tables. But when it did finally come, the presentation was impressive which made the food looked really appealing. However, it stopped there for hubby as his cheeseburger ($11.95) was only OK. Not much different from Maccas again but paying for presentation. He stated that the buns should have been toasted as it came out served not warm but room temperature. On the other hand, I was extremely pleased with my El Grande Steak ($27.95). Served with a cheesy sauce and tomato salsa and to die for jalapenos (would love to have heaps more jalapenos, though) it was indeed one of the best steaks I have ever had ! Cooked medium rare, it also came with sides of mash potato and Caesar salad. Hubby and I always share our meals but this time round, I told him that I was really, really starving ! Ate the bulk of if but my conscience got the better of me and I ‘generously’ spared him a few morsels.
The next time we take a drive to Mandurah, I have forewarned hubby that I am gonna try another steak and have it all to myself !

We booked at Hog's Breath, thinking we were taking the kids but ended up getting a babysitter at the last minute (yay!). Still, we kept the booking and went with friends.
The laid back atmosphere was great, the waitress we had was friendly but not too friendly - suggested a wine we all might enjoy and then left us to enjoy our meals, only stopping back once or twice to see if we needed more drinks and that the meals were okay. The timing of the meals was perfect and the meals themselves were all pretty good (one complaint about the steak being a bit fatty but still delicious though).
Value for money, all in all a great relaxed night out.
Overall:
Great food although the menu for children doesn't go much beyond "nuggets and chips". The atmosphere is perfect for a family outing although if you are unlucky enough to go during a busy time don't expect quick and attentive service.
