Overall:
I have a love/hate relationship with this place... it's always buzzing and it has its fans, but it's difficult to find a dish with pizazz and spice.
Most of the food is "middle of the road" -- I imagine in order to cater for the mum-and-dad-and-two-kid families who want to try Asian food without scaring the first-timers off with spice and flavour.
It's not BAD food, it's just not "interesting".
Overall:
It's ok..just don't ask for hot...some of the dishes are 50/50...I have spent time in Thailand cooking and I know my Thai food. Some of the dishes have been australianised and so lacks the soul Thai food can deliver. But I will eat here once and a while and its ok..
Overall:
Just One Thai is quite unique - (and very popular) - It's a small very friendly venue where the owner and staff will chat to you as though you are a family member even if it's your first visit - and there is little formality, if any extended.
Try to avoid the single table in the small front window as with the mirrors it's somewhat like sitting in a goldfish bowl.
Food is prepared in an open kitchen at the rear of the seating area and the BBQ seafood platter is very good. The whole fish in chili sauce is also a good choice but a little on the sweet side to retain it's authenticity to a similar dish cooked in Thailand. The only down side is that all menu dishes are VERY heavy on vegetable content! (Makes the portions look huge).
The prices are very low indeed and it’s a great place for an inexpensive meal if you are happy with a cafe environment.
