Food:

Went there for a quick lunch for 4 today. I had the wasabi tobiko sushi, which to my disappointment, didn't have a hint of wasabi at all. I would've been better off selecting the normal tobiko sushi and pay a dollar extra. That said, the roll itself was still quite tasty and I don't fault it.

If you want a good deal, I reckon the combo is quite worth it, considering you can choose 2 items out of teriyaki chicken, fish, katsu chicken and karaage for $9.90 (or curries for $11.90?).

I liked their wasabi ice-cream the first time I went there, but unfortunately they only had the green tea flavour this time. Unlucky! Next time perhaps... :)

Service:

We were the first table there as it was only 11-ish. Although they gave us the buzzer, they brought our food out to us personally, which I thought was great service. All done with a smile too.

Ambience:

Very casual, cafe-like. Nice, chilled and relaxed.

Overall:
Great value for workers in the Subi area. Would recommend the wasabi ice-cream to those game enough to try, provided it's as good as I remembered it!

Food:

Well suited to an australian palette, the food is all traditional japanese (though I hear via the grapevine that soon it will include a larger array of pan-asian offerings).

My personal favourite is the Karaage Chicken, which is probably not healthy, but is so incredibly satisfying on a cold winter day.

Portions are quite good, and you get a serve of miso, salad and rice with a large meal.

Service:

The majority of the staff are all japanese or korean, and they're really polite and helpful, if a little quiet. It all adds to the calm aspect of Kome which stands in vast contrast to the echoing, school hall sensibilities of a place like Wagamamas.

Ambience:

The space is pretty open and clean, and adds to the sense of calm with fresh green paint and mostly white fixtures. The al-fresco area has a good heater installed, which makes it a good spot to eat even in winter.

Overall:
I've been a frequent visitor to Kome for ages now, and even though they have stopped trading at night (much to my disappointment) I still enjoy a lunchtime meal from them. Overall, I'd recommend them to anyone I know, and if you haven't tried them, you're missing out.
