Meals were appropriate priced and presentation was excellent. Although each serving by itself might seem small, once it all added up, it was more than adequate. Blending of Japanese and French cuisine was well done and none too shocking. Steak was done to my specification. Mushroom and scallop was excellent.
Choices were from a set menu which was good as it avoid the situation of "what should I order". 3 different set menus to choose from.
Service was courteous. We never did have to run out of water and each course was served about 10-20 minutes in between. Professional in approach. Was surprised that the servers did not know how to operate the EFTPOS machine with a chip credit card. Had to walk them through it.
Biggest complaint here. The acoustics in the restaurant are downright horrible. We could hear what everybody else was talking and most if not all of dinner was spend shouting. Lighting was nice and decor was functional.
Overall:
Would go back again for dinner but would definitely try to avoid the weekends due to the noise levels. Perhaps on weekdays, it might be quieter.

My first experience with the restaurant was when I attended a Christmas function a few weeks ago. Although the restaurant is not as big as what I have expected, but it has delivered fantastic food & service throughout the night.
We were surprised by the soup of the day. Definitely not the type of creamy soup which we are used to. It was a light consommé with a layer of chawamushi (steamed egg) on the bottom.
The food overall were very well presented. Many at the table commented that the food looked so pretty that it would be a pity to eat it. We were given many choices for dessert and I had the Green Tea Brulee. For all Green Tea fans out there, this is a must try and I'm sure you would be back for more!
This is definitely a place to go if you want a nice and cosy ambience to get-together. They don't play loud music so you can hear one another easily without shouting. And becos' the place is not big, they only fit certain numbers for one night. Reservation is highly recommended from my observation; they only had 1 round of seating that night.

I went there with 3 friends on Saturday night and it is one of my favourite restaurants to go to if you want a more quiet relaxed dinner style as it is a degustation menu so be prepared for a slow paced dinner.
I have been there a few times before and it always delivers fantastic food and at a great value.
Their location is a bit hard to find as it is actually just off James Street facing the park and is set back a bit so quite hidden. But other than that, i can't fault anything with the place.
The food comes in a degustation style and we paid under $50 for a five course meal including dessert which was great value. The food is always presented very well and is a fusion of Japanese and Western (French I think) and the quality and presentation of the food is just fantastic.
For the mains, I had the duck and my friends had the beef and seafood croquette which we which we all shared and they were all delicious.
A great place to go when you want good food and a relaxed night out with friends at a restaurant where you can actually hear each other talk and are not in a rush to go.

I was given the task of finding a decent restaurant in Northbridge with one hour's notice. Following reviews here and my own slight leaning towards wanting to sample some Japanese food, I selected K's Restaurant.
One thing that was somewhat critical was finding a restaurant that allowed our party of two to be able to hear each other speak (we're not into noisy places at all and consider good ambience to be very important).
We were given three set menus to choose from and we opted for the least expensive since it provided a good range of options. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. I found the portion sizes just right but my 6'1" friend was left feeling that he could have happily eaten more. He felt the value for money slightly lacking therefore (I'd say he's an 'average' eater for someone of his height for reference).
I struggled a bit with the chopsticks and the very attentive waitress surreptitiously slipped me a fork without me even having to request one (I didn't think I was doing that badly but apparently that wasn't the view of others!).
We went on a Friday evening and found the restaurant fairly empty and therefore not remotely noisy. All in all a very pleasant dining experience let down only by the debatable lack of value for money.

K's Restaurant has proved there ARE places in Northbridge that serve good food. Previous reviews have stated the menu is confusing, not at all. You choose option A,B or C. Some on our table of 8 chose A and some B. The service was VERY efficient and friendly at the same time. The food was DELICIOUS. Even though the each course looked small there was plenty of food over the whole meal. Corkage is $3.30. The wine list is adequate. Probably a good idea to book early as the place is not large. We had a great night and I was very happy with our 'stab in the dark' choice of restaurant. We will definitely be going back. (Just note it is not on James St but around the corner near the park in Parker St.)

Well I'm back with the follow up review as promised after taking the "club" out to their surprise "k" night. On arrival we were greeted and made welcome. Bottles were opened and wine cooler buckets made available for those who had champagne. I asked the waitress to explain the different menus, thought it better than me just guessing again! The deal is 3 different menus the K standard, the deluxe, and the crayfish. The standard is soup followed by entree (no choice) then choice of main, dessert, coffee or tea. Price was $38.00. The deluxe was again soup of the day, followed by all three entrees, choice of main, dessert, coffee or tea. Price $45.00 Finally the crayfish option which was same as the deluxe with the exception of one of the entrees being 1/2 a crayfish! Price $55. The cuisine at K's is different because it is a combination between Japanese and French and well worth a visit. All my companions of the evening had an enjoyable evening. The staff must be congratulated on their customer service. We will return.

We belong to an alphabet restaurant club and a group of 10 of us go out once every 2 months to different BYO restaurants. It is our turn this month! We have got as far as "K" over the past 2 years, and the hunt was on for a "different” restaurant beginning with the letter K. My husband and I decided to try out K's restaurant before taking the others there a few nights ago. We had a wonderful experience. The decor is superb and the customer service given to us was first rate. The food was beautifully presented and although the portions are not huge neither of us came away hungry after the different courses being served. The menu seemed a little confusing but as this was our first time at the restaurant we just went with the standard menu. Next time I will ask them to explain it. We'll add another review after we have all been on the 23rd and I'll get everyone’s feed back .PS loved the Japanese nutty tea!!
Overall:
The night we were there, K's had three set menus: K's menu, K's Deluxe menu and K's Crayfish menu. In all of them, the soup and appetiser were the same. If you had the standard menu, the 3rd course was your choice of 5 main dishes, but if you had chosen the deluxe or crayfish menu, you were presented with two more entrees before moving to your choice of main course. This was followed by dessert and coffee. Might sound complicated, but the concept is similar to Chinese banquet menus.
The food was fantastic; a combination of Japanese, French and Chinese with fresh ingredients and delicate individual tastes and flavours in each dish.
They are licensed but allow BYO wine. Their wine list is not great, but at $3.00 corkage, you would be mad not to take your own. The restaurant is a little too noisy for a romantic evening for two, but if fine food is what you are after, I believe it would be hard to find a better deal. Our all up cost for the night was just under $50.00 per person and we will definitely be going back.
Overall:
The food is exquisite and the service very good. The set course menu is excellent value and the presentation is superb. We return each year for our Xmas get together. BYO wine (corkage $3 per bottle).
