Food:
Absolutely the best. Can't go past my favourite the Mee Goreng. Also enjoy the soups and other mains. Food plentiful like it should be at all restaurants and always fresh and tasty.

Service:
Very busy at dinner times and is better for lunch. But the staff is good and helpful given how busy they are all the time.

Ambience:
Not flashy, but comfortable. A good family feel to it and it is food we are after not fancy surroundings

Overall:
Hard to go past. In fact miss out on other restaurants because they do not match up to Kulcha. The best in the north for sure.

Food:

The chef at Kulcha is a superb judge of the sauces, spices and nuances that make their version of classic asian dishes absolutely top class. Remarkable given the price for the dishes.

Service:

Always friendly, courteous and fast.

Ambience:

It is a casual dining venue - It's busy, it's crowded but friendly and there is a constant flow of people in and out - every bit the bustling Asian restaurant

Overall:
There would be few places in Perth that can match Kulcha as a casual dining venue.

i've been a devotee at kulcha since it opened, and despite now living in Toodyay, travel every few months just to dine here.

the menu is huge, service is great, food is quick. an inexpensive meal that rivals the authentic cuisine i've tasted in asian countries from street stalls.

also an easy place to take the kids and my husband loves that it has both byo and alcohol available.

i'd recommend the stuffed chicken wings, beef rendang, mee goreng, chilli beef, green curry & salty pork chops.

a social dining experience with communal eating and sampling a must!

Have been dining at Kulcha since it first opened Sept. 2002. and since then eat there 2-3 times a month. Have always found the food to be fantastic and the staff really friendly. The owners Cecilia & John along with son Anthony do a terrific job and have built a great business with a huge local support & seem to go from strength to strength. A visit will not disappoint though I should add its best to book a few days in advance.

This is the place to be if you want fresh cheap Asian cuisine. There apparently was a major game of AFL on this Friday night we came in for a meal, so the restaurant was not busy; the service was spot on and the food fantastic.

The chicken ramen soup was tasty with generous succulent pieces of chicken breast piled on top of a wonderful tasty broth at a very good price.

The entrées were cheap. We ordered spring rolls and Vietnamese rolls the quality was amazing, fresh ingredients.

The main dishes Schezuan Chicken, great sized portion wonderful flavour and a fired chicken dish starting with K?? fantastic use of Asian spices and crispy coating served with my favourite Asian mayo and dipping sauce.

This place is BYO with cheap corkage and pretty much all meals under $12.

Our bill came to under $40

The best part, no belching, stomach rumbling or dry mouth syndrome you usually get from other Asian restaurants.

Maybe I shouldn’t be singing their praises, keep this one a secret!

very happy with the prices and service is extremely prompt. You get your water and drinks right away, and if you order entrees, they come out reasonably fast. A lot of variety in Beers and spirits, ranging from cheaper to the more pricey labels.

Food is fantastic, out of the world, you actually feel like u are in asia with out travelling. The restaurant has also introduced a new alfresco dining area now, which has heaters and plastic blind coming down which stop any wind.

The workers actually makes you feel appreciated there, and from my experience, the business is a family run business, and they deal and talk to you as if they really truly know you. They actually remembered me after a couple visits and they seem like friends to me now.

The wait for food and takeaway can take a long time, but u cant blame them. If u sit and watch how many tables are turned over, and how often the phone rings, u be astonished.

I recommend this place for little family dinners as the prices are cheap, and the kids can eat the food too. I have also seen a lot of birthday parties there too so its a great atmosphere if you like noisy, crowded areas.

highly recommended and appreciate what the family has done for the area of Joondalup!!

Just one of those really good local restaurants that you come back to time and again. Very popular with the locals so bookings are a must. We have been several times for dinner and lunch. Always pleasant, efficient staff and good tasty food. Although the nasi goreng was a disappointment. We travel extensively in Asia so maybe this is a somewhat biased view. Busy and noisy so I wouldn't recommend for the hard of hearing or a romantic dinner. I love this place! Will be back and back again.

I love this restaurant. It has all the elements that make a great restaurant, good food, pleasant atmosphere and 5 star service. You really feel as if you are a valued customer here and the prices are too good to be true. I eat here regularly and have never been disappointed. The menu is extensive, and also caters for vegetarians. If you go here i promise you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I have been eating here for some 3-4 years now. It all started when we went to the nearby Grand Boulevard Tavern for a meal and after being totally ignored for some twenty minutes stormed out vowing never to return. Finding Kulcha a mere a hundred metres away made that an easy promise to keep.

The basic menu premise is that of Asian fusion with a mixture of Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Malaysian dishes. The bar is well stocked with a great selection of beers and soft drinks and the wines although not huge (very adequate though) in variety are well priced and the by the glass serves are generous. They are also BYO with a sometimes applied corkage.

In all the times we have been, either at lunch at night as a couple or with a group, the food has been spot on. Never once has there been the slightest variation in quality. We have been through about 50-60% of the menu and I have to say to pick a favourite dish is almost a crime. That said however I must highly recommend the Chicken Karage, spicy battered and fried chicken strips with 2 dips, one a Japanese mayonnaise and the other a heavy soy. The other personal favourite is the Chlli Beef, just magic and my wife can't go past their Mee Goreng, but as I said, to pick a favourite is really hard. The service is always good (you are well advised to book and book ahead because those of us up here in the north keep coming back) they seat you quickly and have bowls, menus, wine list and a water bottle and glasses on the table very promptly. The meals average around $8.95 to $9.95 for a main $4 to $5.00 for their entrees, I can honestly say I have never had room to eat a dessert but they are available. Yeah it can get noisy, and it is a little crowded but if you want a seat you are grateful they can squeeze that many people in.!
I wouldn't recommend this as a romantic first date, but if you are in a group and or just a couple looking for a great meal in an otherwise desolate area for food you must give this a try.

If you miss The Hawkers Hut in Leederville like I do then Kulcha in Joondalup is the place for you. Sometimes a little busy and hard to get a table but in all, once in, its all about the food. With a choice of many Asian cuisines there is something for everyone. The beef and cracked black pepper is delicious, along with the lemon chicken. There are noodles galore and for desert have some deep fried ice cream. They have bottles of wine from around $18 and is fully licensed. To sum it up its cheap and tasty.

My family have frequented this noodle house many times and also had takeaway. The restaurant is noisy and busy but due to very reasonably priced and great food this is definitely worth putting up with. Very much in the realm of Hans restaurants but with better and more abundant food.
