Overall:
I found this restaurant quite a novel experience. I wasn't too fussed about the cooking your own meat thing as it didn't really require anything more than cutting up the meat to bite sized pieces and keeping an eye on it to make sure it didn't overcook. The smells of cooking right in front of you is reminiscent of a Sunday afternoon bbq at times.
We had the pork fillet which was coated in mustard seed and spices as well as the "Game of the Day" which was camel medallions. I'm not very big on heavy marinades so I was pleased to find the camel had not had any added spices or flavourings besides salt. I find that gamey meat is better when one is allowed to savour the flavours of the game itself rather than trying to disguise it with heavy spices. The spices on the pork, however, worked well to enhance the flavour of what is normally a fairly bland meat.
The sides that come with the mains is fairly bland, two whole potatoes which have been boiled or steamed and a bit of leafy salad. Minimal dressing, which I like(though others may not) and a dipping sauce to go with the meat.
For dessert we tried the chocolate tasting plate for two, which in hindsight was not a good idea as we had hot chocolates as well and were struggling to finish it in all its chocolaty goodness.
Bit pricey, with most mains around the $30 mark and drinks are very expensive, but there are number of ways to get discounted meals, such as entertainment book or west club card vouchers as well as Weekday specials, such as Mondays where the second main is half price.
Service was fantastic, the staff were incredibly friendly and bubbly, and were quite prompt in taking our orders or checking on how we were enjoying our meals, drinks etc.
Parking is also a bit of an issue, as there isn't very much of it and the parking at the rear is a bit dodgy looking.
This place is worth a try, if only for the novelty experience. The food tastes good if you go for the more exotic dishes rather than the fillet steak or seafood and is also a more healthy option as the meat is trimmed of all fats and there is no oil used in the cooking.
