There wasn't a great deal on the menu that appealed to me. I chose the pork belly and my guest had the seafood platter. We were both happy with out meals and the portion sizes were huge. The vegetables with my pork belly were fresh and cooked to perfection
The woman that served us was a bit rude & took ages to work out how to use the till. I asked to see the dessert menu at the same time as the usual menu so I could decide whether to 'save room'. She patronizingly said 'it usually comes out later' & looked at me like I was an idiot.
We got an outside table. The tables were a bit small, especially when having a platter.
Overall:
I would go back for the two for one platter special but wouldn't go out of my way to return.

A very solid restaurant - just a quick review though. Very prompt and attentive service, tables for 2 outside are a bit small. I had a steak for main which was very good, cooked medium rare as asked.
Partner had the seafood platter which she enjoyed. Definitely worth visiting.

After reading a few bad reviews I feel obliged to add my own positive experience. Dined here on a Tuesday to take advantage of the kids-eat-free & cater4kids entertainment and couldn't have been happier.
The food was great, service friendly and prompt with the added bonus of well-fed, entertained children. A nice experience overall and we will definitely be returning.

Every meal I have had at the left bank has been excellent, from breakfasts on Sunday mornings to lunches on lazy Saturday afternoons the food, service and views have been spectacular. I would highly recommend the calamari!!!

Dined here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Shared the great harbour view with some cyclists and canoeists. The muesli was great and my friend was happy with the eggs. Always happy to return to the Left Bank.

Do catch the Wednesday special a seafood platter for 2 for the price of 1. Served at the café it was superb value at $36.50. The huge platter was well presented with 4 oysters, 4 king prawns & 2 smoked salmons atop fresh green salad accompanied by a light mayo sauce. The hot selection consisted of 4 battered whitings, generous serve of grilled peppered calamari & chips and a bowl of mussels.
The seafood was so fresh and I never had more lovely calamari with its "melt in the mouth" effect. The meal was going so superbly until we got to the mussels. What an absolute disappointment they were. Firstly, they were slightly overcooked. Then it was cooked in a weird sauce which we could not quite make out a slight burnish taste in a brown sauce with peas ! We thought they could possibly be trying to be creative and emulate an Indian style. Big mistake, should have stuck with good ole chilli mussels. Infact, it they had cooked it with the tomatoey sauce/chutney accompanying the cooked seafood, it would have been a great success. But for that special price, who is complaining.
We were seated inside but the views were still amazing through the glass windows, with the boats in the harbour and the lights from the traffic over the Stirling Highway overpass. If you don't mind being exposed to the wind, there is the outdoor courtyard area (with standing heaters) where there is live entertainment from 7-10pm. Pretty popular café as busier than the average place on a week night. Can't imagine what it must be like on Fri/Sat nights - parking then would be a nightmare. Definitely a great casual place to hang out with friends after a hectic week.

I am always very impressed with the menu at the Left Bank, and you cant beat the relaxed vibe that comes with sitting at a pub by the river! I have only eaten upstairs once and the food was fantastic - service could have been better but it was a friday night and busy downstairs so most of the staff were down there i figure. Unfortunate, as it is a high quality/high priced kitchen they run up there and a bit more service would have been great.
Though its a firm favourite of mine for breakfast downstairs! Last Sunday i tried the crumpets with a delicious blueberry jam that tasted home made - very impressive. The menu has the toasted smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese and roquette (my usual order) and i have sampled the sweet potato gratin (you have to be hungry), as well as all the standard breakfast favourites - this spot comes highly recommended by me!

Went here for dinner on Valentines Day and it was perfect - right down to the red rose on the table! The service was excellent, attentive but unobtrusive, and the food was delicious. The restaurant itself has an enviable location right on the river which makes for a beautiful setting. Definitely would recommend this one.
