Welcome to Llama Bar

Llama Bar

Billed as Perth's edgiest late night venue, Llama Bar makes known from the moment you walk in the door it is not your average cocktail bar. Light, airy and arty, the bar's decor is neat, chic and relaxed. The music is inspired and the result is an eclectic crowd.

Llama Bar has a focus on innovative cocktails and our fresh watermelon and mint martini is a crowd pleaser and is enough to satisfy all the senses.

Our garden bar is ideal for functions of 80 to 150 with your own exclusive bar, or for a more intimate event our lounge bar is perfect. Bar tenders show their talent flairing our famous cocktails for you and your guests which can add that something extra to your night.

A cool place for after-work drinks or those in the party mood can enjoy our resident DJs until late in the night.

Llama Bar is the winner of the 2005 Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence, Contemporary Bar Award which is sponsored by AON.

Opening Times Open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm until late

Overall:
This review is solely for WEDNESDAY nights at the Llama Bar.

I have been to Llama twice now on a Weds to experience the $9 steak night and have been more than impressed on both occasions!

The atmosphere of the place is the same as it always is on the weekend (but without the crowds): laid back vibes, soft lighting and cool bar staff.

The deal on a Weds is that there are only two dishes on the menu - steak with either mashed potato/chips and a pepper/mushroom or béarnaise sauce OR the vegetarian pasta option.

I have ordered both the mushroom sauce steak and mash combo and the pepper steak and chips combo. Both times the quality of the steak was excellent. The steak itself is about 250g and it is lovely and thick. Both times it came out cooked exactly the way I requested - medium rare and very tender/melt in the mouth. The mashed potato is definitely real potato and not the powder substitute and the sauce is excellent. The chips are plentiful and crispy and just salted enough to bring out the flavour. Both the mushroom sauce and pepper sauce are good - although I would say that you really have to enjoy a strong black peppercorn taste if you choose that option. The mushroom sauce is more subtle.

Basically what I am trying to get across is, I would quite willingly pay a lot more than $9 for this dish and it is even presented in a manner more befitting a more expensive dish.

I cannot recommend Llama Bar on a Weds night more highly - although I would recommend booking a table.

Drinks specials are also available, making the whole night a cheap mid week treat!
