Welcome to Matilda Bay Restaurant
MATILDA BAY RESTAURANT was established in 1984 by current general manager Warwick Lavis and since that time the restaurant and function centre have become known not only as a Mecca of fabulous Western Australian food and wine but also a showcase for local timbers, stone and artisans craft.
The restaurant is situated on the banks of the picturesque swan river, ten minutes from the centre of Perth and all major hotels, adjacent to the Royal Perth Yacht Club and it boasts panoramic views of the city, Kings Park and Perth water.
Each day market fresh seafood and fresh local produce are crafted into exquisite modern Australian cuisine by executive chef Richard Hinson and his talented team.
The restaurant is a popular venue with locals and visitors to Perth alike for lunch or dinner. On Sundays a delicious breakfast buffet is available. With a capacity of 150 persons. Both large and small groups can be accommodated.
For large parties, there is the Roe Function Centre upstairs which has a capacity of 150 persons and the ground floor Catalina Room has a capacity of 50 persons. Both rooms are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with both set and choice menus available. All tastes can be catered for.
Being set in an 'A' class national reserve gives us the added facility of being able to cater for barbecues and marquee functions up to 1000 persons whilst enjoying Perth's magnificent Mediterranean climate.

Overall:
My husband thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Matilda Bay Restaurant. The staff where refreshingly friendly and efficient and I can safely say the Seafood plates we had was the nicest we have ever had. The seafood was generous and cooked to perfection so the meat fell away from the shells with out sticking and was beautifully tender. My sashimi entree was perfect and my husband enjoyed his oysters. We only wish we had room for dessert but we will return in the near future for sure.

I arrived at this restaurant at lunchtime for a business luncheon with 3 others. The restaurant was particularly busy but we were shown to our table promptly and given menus. We had bread rolls brought to the table and because it was only a lunch we only had mains. My steak that I ordered was a sirloin done to perfection. This was a large portion and came with a béarnaise sauce on a red wine jus bed. This was stacked on to a potato base and topped with asparagus which was unusual and very delicious. My partners that I dined with all commented on how good their meals were. I was too full to try any desserts but my lunch buddies had a chocolate trio. This was a mixture of a white chocolate sorbet, a milk chocolate moose and a dark chocolate tart. I wish I'd had room to fit it in, maybe another time!! I recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
Overall:
My partner took me here for dinner last night, and it was sensational!
The restaurant itself is just gorgeous, the decor is not too overpowering of the view. It is simply beautiful.
I had the Mushroom Risotto as an entree, and frankly it was the best Risotto i have ever eaten. Perfectly creamy without being glugy - it was delicious! My partner had the Cream of Field Mushroom soup which he said was magnificent.
For mains I ordered the Sirloin, and he ordered the duo plate. My steak was cooked to perfection. I could not fault my meal.
The duo plate (fillet steak with half a cray) however, arrived with the smallest looking half cray either of us had ever seen. He did comment that it wasn’t particularly good crayfish either. I was advised that the rest of his meal was fantastic.
I did browse through the extensive wine list - which looks really good - but as I was driving and my partner does not drink, I decided to give it a miss.
All in all - a must try restaurant!!
Overall:
Some girlfriends and I headed there for lunch one weekday. First impressions - awesome! The artwork around the place definitely opened the place up (especially the woodwork). The service was friendly, however a little lacking. No black pepper was offered and after our first bottle of wine, we weren't offered any more. The food and the views though were sensational!

Amazing dining experience!!
I visited Matilda Bay for the first time a few weeks ago. I had always heard really good things and decided to check it out for my birthday.
From the moment we walked in the door, the staff were nothing but charming and attentive. One of the staff members (Charlie) sung "Happy Birthday" to me opera style. It was so special!
The food was sensational; so fresh and a delicate medley of flavours.
And THE VIEW!! The river, Kings Park & city lights make the perfect backdrop. I really don't think there's any better in Perth.
A truly magical experience. I would recommend Matilda Bay to anyone without hesitation and I can say without a doubt I will definitely be returning in the near future.
Thank you Matilda Bay for making my special day so perfect!!
