Welcome to Millbrook Winery

The Millbrook tasting room has a range of wines available either for tasting or purchase by the glass or bottle.

To complement our fine wines, our innovative Chef offers a delicious selection of modern Australian light meals, or gourmet picnic baskets, for your enjoyment. Our menu changes on a seasonal basis to take advantage of the local fresh produce, including marron and fruit from Chestnut Farm.

Enjoy casual dining, in the tranquillity and beauty of Millbrook, on our deck with sweeping views; or find your own picnic spot by the lake; or in the winter, just relax by the fire in our welcoming tasting room or restaurant.

Millbrook also has a superb upper level function room which is ideal for special occasions or corporate events. Our Chef can design a menu to suit your catering requirements.

Millbrook has been chosen as one of the "Best Winery Restaurants" in Western Australia in the Australian Gourmet Traveller 2006 Restaurant Guide.

Food:

We visited Millbrook for second time several weeks ago and again found it an enjoyable experience. We both had a fish main (my partner had the excellent "Seafood in a Bag") they and other courses were up the standard we usually enjoy in western suburbs restaurants. He drinks mainly red and selected the 2005 Millbrook Shiraz Viognier, noting it as a good choice.

Service:

Although on a Sunday with a full restaurant, including several large tables, the service was prompt and pleasant.

Ambience:

On our first visit, we had had window seating at the front (lake) side and even though placed on a side (window) table for the recent visit, it was still an extremely pleasant outlook. The noise level was not greatly intrusive to us.

Overall:
Millbrook is up with our more enjoyable restaurant experiences. Not overly cheap, but worth the money and within fairly easy striking distance of Perth. Definitely a nice change from Subiaco and western suburbs restaurants and much closer than Margaret River!

The tasting plate was somewhat bizarre, including things like omelette squares and a little ramekin that contained something like pea soup. It was fine though.
I ordered the blue crab rag pasta, which was very underwhelming. The rag pasta was bland and under salted, and the crab looked like it had been overcooked in its shell, scooped into the pasta, and then mixed around. The serving size, as well, was more like a large entree. For the price, I was not impressed at all. The mains that my two friends had - a rib-eye steak, and the duck - tasted better, but still, the cost for the serving was exorbitant, and the presentation was not terribly inspiring.

Service:

I had no issue with the service, and the food was delivered fairly promptly and all at the same time. The waitstaff were friendly enough.

Ambience:

The room has a fantastic view, and the temperature was nice and cool. There is nothing outstanding about the dining room itself, save for the spectacular view.

Overall:
I was disappointed by my choice of main and because a meal is pretty much made or broken on the main, I must say that my experience was, overall, not favourable.

My partner and I ate on Milbrook on Sunday 26 October. It was a great way to begin our holiday in WA (from SA). The food was great. I recommend the tasting plate which was an excellent way to start. We both seafood mains. Mine was the barramundi special and my partner had the crab linguini. My main was very good. But I was envious of the crab linguini - I had a taste and for a moment wished I had ordered it! My partner reported it was excellent - balanced flavours and not at all a heavy dish. We had a bottle of their lovely Sav Blanc to share for these courses. We splashed out on a cheese plate too! This was well put together with good balance of flavour and texture between the cheeses and other things on the plate - all delicious.

Service:

We were advised when we ordered that the tasting plate was quite large so we asked for a longer break before main - our waitress followed through with this very well. Staff were attentive and friendly to just the right degree & the manager came to our table asking how we had enjoyed our meal.

Ambience:

Beautiful setting - the restaurant was busy and had a great buzz or feel about it. Acoustics might be a bit noisy if you are in a large group and wanted to talk across the table but this was no problem for us. We loved being able to taste wine first so we knew what to order.

Overall:
A great experience - great food, well presented, well timed in delivery to the table, great wine, staff friendly and attentive to just the right degree!

The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Servings were quite small, but the taste made up for that.

Service:

I found the service very friendly and helpful. The staff in the wine tasting area were exceptionally excellent. The table staff were polite, but could have serviced the tables a little bit more.

Ambience:

The ambience at Millbrook is amazing. The tasting room is classy and elegant along with its giant archway window. The dining room is huge, the ceilings are so high and the view is breath taking. Would be nice to be able to sit outside, but I understand fly's are quite a problem at the moment.

Overall:
Overall I found my experience at Millbrook excellent. We traveled an hour from Mandurah for lunch, and like the staff member said on the phone while I was booking "Its worth it'. Would definitely go back for a special occasion.

Food:

I can only award the food 2.5 stars as one of the $40 Eye Fillet Steaks that was served to our table was exactly half the size of the other one that we had ordered. The excuse? "Cooking a steak for longer (the diner had ordered medium to well compared to the other who had ordered medium rare) makes the meat shrink." To half the size?

Service:

Unfortunately the service was not only quite confrontational and rude in the restaurant, but also over the telephone when we rang back the next day to cancel the table of seven we had booked for the following weekend. While we were offered a complimentary bottle of wine, it doesn't excuse the treatment.

Ambience:

A lovely restaurant and view, but we were not allowed to sit out on the veranda on this lovely 31 degree day, and the air conditioning in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold

Overall:
Something has gone seriously wrong at Millbrook, as all of our party agreed. We have been dining at Millbrook for some years now, and while there have been some problems in the past, the people in charge have known how to treat their customers. This seems to have gotten lost somewhere. Disappointing.

Food:

There is no doubt that someone has done their homework in this kitchen. The meals are extremely well balanced with flavour and the portion size is satisfying. The shared plate is a meal in itself, giving the diner a chance to sample bite sizes of some of the entrees. The menu also gives the diner enough choice without feeling confused.

Service:

Unfortunately, we found that they seem to have forgotten to train their staff, especially that its the little things that can and will, make a difference!! Although I wouldn't call leaving our bottle of red for us to pour a little thing, would you?

Ambience:

Again, there is no doubt that they have aimed to achieve an outlook that compliments both their food and their wine and embraces all that Jarradale has to offer.

Overall:
We love Millbrook and will be back. The food is of culinary delight and with wines to match, its a lazy lunch in heaven. I just hope that the staff realise love it as much and want to do their job properly.

Overall:
My husband and I dine here quite regularly and as of late the food is to die for, i had the scollops and asparagus with millbrook olive oil and my husband had the laksa- thai syle, i have been all over Thailand and this one tastes better. For main course we had the chicken ceasar and sirloin with onion jam and both were cooked to perfection, the wines are superb, the only problem is some of the wine by the glass is too expensive around -$10 at that! the restaurant over looks a picturesque dam and natural ampitheatre, it makes for a beautiful day! However the service is severely lacking, there was three girls on for 40 people which you think would be enough, i felt sorry for two of them who seemed to be running around doing all the work while the girl who has a badge proclaiming to be the restaurant manager sat on the computer in the middle of the restaurant for get this! 3 hours! Terribly unprofesional! Even when we went to pay she couldnt get up and serve us she sat on the chair to take our money!

Last saturday they had an annual wine maker for the day lunch which was fantastic $65 which included a three course meal, all the wine you can drink (and we did!) and a tour of the vineyard and winery, highly recommended.

We will go back, all things considered.. theyve got two things right, the wine and the food now all the have to do is train up that manager to do some work and they will be laughing!
