The Moon serves fairly typical bar and cafe style food and I've found it all to be tasty and generously sized. The pizza I had was topped with capsicum and italian sausage and was better than I've had in some of the Italian restaurants around the place. I found the chicken penne pasta in a cream sauce to be very good though perhaps a little sweet. One of my friends had the burger and praised it highly for the homestyle pattie.

The only disappointment so far has been the nachos, that seemed to be a bit lacking in toppings and didn't really hit the spot. Overall the quality of the food is probably better than I would expect for a late night bar and of good value.

Service:

On one occasion the drinks we ordered didn't arrive but were on the bill. As we were in a hurray we didn't chase up the missing drinks but the cashier didn't argue and corrected the mistake when we went to pay.

I hadn't been to The Moon for a few years until recently but since then have been back a couple of times. Its great for popping in later in the night and has a very cool and relaxed vibe.

The Moon certainly doesn't look like the place where you'd find one of the best pastas in the city, but that's the way it is! Their lasagna is great and make sure you try chef's dressing - SPECTACULAR! great pastas we eat often are Marco and Arabiata. We're not big fans of the salmon pasta, and unfortunately the pizzas are nothing to write home about.

Service:

There were a few times where they had a full house and the service was a bit slow, but otherwise great. They're a bunch of interesting and unique characters, but the service is standardised and good!

A quirky place, but I love going there every now and then just because it's interesting.

Overall:
Overall, a great place for an informal weekend lunch or weeknight dinner.

Overall:
Great place to go after/before a night out. I've been here a few times and I totally agree with the other review. At 2am I found it extremely busy one night, and you have to order food in order to get a meal (which kind of contradicts the "late night bar" posted on the door).

Great music and some nice people there though, good place to hang out and have a few drinks and a standard meal. Last time I went I had a creamy pasta dish which I remember to be nice (although I was quite drunk at the time). Definitely not a place known for its great food. Also, we were never offered more drinks or anything when we were finished them, and it got quite annoying having to keep going up to the staff to ask for another. The atmosphere and the staff make up the whole attraction of the place.

I wouldn't sit outside in the undercover area on a hot night, it becomes a large oven. The feeble fans do little. Very little. If you do though, pick a seat under the fan and definitely order some cold drinks.

Although I liked the laid back attitude of the waiters, the guy that waited our table one night sat down at it to order us, and he was incredibly nervous and hard to communicate with. When we finished he reached for the plates and said quietly "umm can I .. take your stuff". Kind of funny though.

Yet, I still love this place and would gladly go any given weekend. Why you ask? I have no idea.

Overall:
The Moon is a hard place to review.

It's definitely not fine dining; let’s get that out of the way first. The food isn't great, the service can be sloppy/slow, and the place is often crowded and stuffy...

But somehow, this is a place people find themselves. It's open very late, has reasonable prices, and is so.... unrefined that being there while drunk (or to GET drunk) seems perfectly OK.

Spiel out of the way, here's some details. The food – This can be hit or miss depending on the time/night, but generally it's decent. The wedges are usually very good, and the pasta dishes are sizable. You won’t be ranting about subtle sophisticated flavours, but you won’t go hungry.

The cocktails are usually good - Smurfs are delicious, but the Pina Colada I had wasn't great.

Service is hard to describe. It's often slow, and since the place is usually so crowded and cramped, that slows things down further - my group of 5 managed to pounce on a table as it was vacated, and after 10-15 minutes the dishes hadn't been cleared and we decided to walk to Hog's Breath. When you do get service it's usually good and cheerful, very casual...

Don't go here if you're claustrophobic. It gets very crowded, cramped, noisy and humid most nights.

They also do dessert pizzas, but I've never tried one.
