Overall:
Over the past few weeks I have been arranging a works function and we decided on previous experience that Mulberry on Swan fitted all requirements. I had trouble booking as email's were not returned etc, but eventually all was ok and the big night arrived. Now this is not a cheap night at $90.00 a head but for that everything was included ie. buffet style hot roasts and cold meats, seafood, desserts, coffee cheeses etc. Entertainment and wine beer and soft drinks. We arrived at 7pm for the 7.30pm sit down as instructed by Mulberry. Reason for this was drinks are not included until 7.30pm so pay at the bar between 7.00 and 7.30. Thankfully I didn't take my purse so my poor husband had to wait "ha ha" for the 30 minutes until he could get his beer!! The setting at Mulberry is beautiful over looking the river and the dining area was decorated with Christmas trees and traditional red and green settings - all very tasteful. We were all welcomed by Malcom {manager I assume} and so the onslaught began with cold food being one end and hot food the other. It was a little like waiting in line for school dinners mainly because everyone wants to be first and doesn't wait to be called table at a time just in case they miss out. No fear of this as there was plenty of prawns, mussels, different selections of sushi. Finger bowls were on the table but it would have meant stretching over 2 others to get to it so I opted for a trip to the ladies for a wash of fingers between courses. It was then on to the roast ham, roast turkey, veggies and lots of thick gravy. There was also cold meats, king snapper {which I heard good reports about} curry and lots of salads. Certainly something for everyone. The desserts were mainly in the form of different cheesecakes but also a black forest cake and the traditional Christmas pudding and brandy custard. There were waitresses serving jugs of different beers and bottles of wine flowed all evening. Now on to the entertainment - this was by a group called "Pretty Fly". They were fantastic and kept the evening moving along at a good pace and playing the good old songs that we all want to dance to time and time again. I think I danced for 3 hours and was surprised when the evening came to an end just after midnight.{My body thinks it has danced for 12 hours - must be getting old!!} There were a few casualties during the evening - the trouble with being let loose with as much alcohol as you want and so the trip to the car park was a bit precarious with unwell people. It was a good evening - the cost was high but basically if you want an evening of as much food as you can eat with as much wine as you can drink and get up and dance the night away then it was worth it.
